New Nintendo 3DS production ends in Japan

It looks like they're ending production of the smaller screen version of the New Nintendo 3DS.

Nice. The beginning of the end for the handheld that could.

They're doing this to try to force people to buy the new 2DS XL.

3ds really should have just been what the 2ds xl is all along with a higher resolution screen.

I always forget 3ds has 3d, legitimately I do, it's in the name but I never think about the meaning.

I would have preferred it to be higher resolution without the 3D gimmick. I guess it would have been too much like the DS for their tastes. It wouldn't have been enough innovation for them.

The leap in power is enough. DS could barely do 3D gaming while the 3ds is like a handheld GameCube. That's when a power leap actually matters significantly.

Yeah, but you know simple power leaps are not good enough for Nintendo. They always have to have some crazy new way of doing things.

I think Nintendo has learned from silly gimmicks now. They haven't really paid off except for the Wii which that casual audience that bought it to waggle are now on phones playing clash of clans or whatever.

Switch absolutely is a gimmick that's entirely beneficial to gamers and I think from now on Nintendo won't do silly stuff. Hypothetically if the switch didn't exist, I think they would just release an HDS and a regular Joe console

You forgot about the useless IR camera. And why shouldn't you. It never gets used. Plus I haven't really experienced HD rumble too much.
