New 3DS - NO AC adapter included

    Source -
Take this with a grain of salt because it just does not make sense. It sounds like it was just omitted on the list of box contents list. I think we have another case of internet bloggers jumping to conclusions without actual confirmation of information.

I could be wrong, but isn't no AC adapter commonplace for other regions outside the U.S.? I remember this coming up on some other release (maybe the Smash 3DS bundle?) and someone stated as much for that occurrence.

I think in other regions the XL models didn't include the charger either.

It is kinda weird though, how many 3DS's does Nintendo think people are buying...

DOOM headlines, buried retractions a few days later.

It's almost as if the industry doesn't like Nintendo.

Yup no charger with xl in Europe, it's apparently the new standard.

My 3DS XL came with a charger. So did many other people I know that have 3DS or 3DSXL handhelds.

Oh, thank God they made it easier to switch between tabs in a browser. That makes it well worth the upgrade to a new gaming handheld.

And since it's Nintendo, it will never get clarified, and it's probably true.

That doesn't make any sense. My XL was my first 3DS. It would make perfect sense if it was a standard USB charger, but it's not.

Japan and Europe did not get ac adapters with their 3ds xl so this isn't much of a surprise

Only US and Canada that comes with AC adapter. This is not surprising.

Is there a reason behind this like those other regions have some regulations that Power Adapter does not have to be included or something?

I wonder if it'll be the same charger as the regular 3DS and XL?

In Norway, 3DS XL's come without the charger.
Would probably mean the same for rest of Europe.

The 3DS xl's in Europe don't come with the console. I don't mind that because people that already own a 3ds or dsi can just continue using that and we won't collect a huge pile of wasted chargers like we have with phones and tablets. Really, what are they thinking? I have almost ten chargers for phones, and half the amount of USB cords for those same phones. It's a huge waste and I would prefer to buy a separate charger over owning multiple of them because when do those things ever break? It's a waste of nature's resources and money to include chargers with tech these day's.

I would be against it if it had it's own dedicated charger that you can't use with any other device. That would just be a d*** move and would bite them in the behind fast.

Why wouldn't it be? The Dsi, 3DS and 3DS xl all use the same charger so why would they change that now and require you to buy a separate dedicated new 3DS charger?

In Japan, they're powered by nuclear fusion, and they never need charged. You just add a drop of water every 10 years.

I have been doing some reading on this and apparently the 3DS is not the only device that does this in Japan and Europe. Many things like cellphones, digital cameras, and other portable devices have been known to come without chargers in those regions. I am not sure why but it appears that it is a regional thing like maybe companies are not required to give a charger with their device or they have some crazy rule that is attempting to cut back electronic waste or not forcing customers to use the OEM charger and giving them a choice to use whatever charger you want.

Also in my searches I found that a USB Charging option for the 3DS/DSi line exists

i also remember reading that nintendo assumed most of the people in these regions already had a charger from buying the original 3ds. i can see that being the case in japan, but not europe. it is very cost effective though, i will give nintendo that.

The more I read on this it just seems it is a common practice with devices and not just with Nintendo. Maybe it is an excuse to save money but I know that some regions have weird laws with technology and products like forcing companies like Microsoft to remove the internet browser and media player from their operating system or not packaging certain things with products because it does not give the consumer the choice.
