May 8th, 2013

This is certainly the year of the indie for Nintendo, as SnowCastle Games is the latest developer to join the ranks of Wii U developers. The Norwegian team is currently at work on an RPG called Festival of Magic. The game has a very unique premise and promises to offer a mix of Harvest Moon and spell-casting to create an incredible adventure.

Puzzles and exploration are also supposed to be a big part of the game. The characters look a bit like anime-inspired Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, but I’ll hold my reservations for now. The celebratory tweet reads:

The developers go on to promise that the game won’t be just a port for Wii U owners in further tweets, stating they plan to make use of the unique features of the Wii U to make gamers feel at home on their system. You can check out the trailer for the game below and let us know what you think about it. Will you be picking it up when it’s released?

Yes! This one is norwegian. Looking forward to this one. 🙂

    • Zombie Boy

Finally, something on the Wii U that you might enjoy 😉

      • D.M.T

And the only reason he cares it’s because the game is Norwegian lol or else he would trash it

        • Magnus Eriksson

No, I think its nice its norwegian though. The game looks fantastic on its own.

      • Magnus Eriksson

        Not true at all.

Ive enjoyed many things with my WiiU. But Im also very disappointed with it. I had a great time with Nintendoland for the first week, but it got worn of quickly. I had fun with NSMBU but I think the feeling was more old than new. I got shit scared by ZombiU, more than any other game, but it lost it touch after a while and got boring so it never finished. I liked AC3 but I understand that I would have ejoyed it more if I played the two first in the series. I had a fun time with Trine2, Assault NEO, Switch Force, Puddle, and of course Rayman App. Ive bought many of the games on VC, and still play all Ive downloaded on my Wii (now transfered). But im unhappy with what Nintendo did with the service, but I love the games (it features many of the best games through all times). I think Nintendo is overpricing a bit, and a pricedrop would make more people happy. And I dont think Nintendo took its customers serious this generation. I think they tried to be something they are not.

Of course when everything I says is labelled trolling and getting called names like “retard” and “hater” it makes me want to provoke a bit extra just for the funs sake. I like my WiiU, but im also very disappointed that Nintendo drops the ball over and over again. They should have said clearly from the beginning; “We dont care about core or hardcore. We makes machines for childrens and their families. We are not competing with Xbox or PS.”. This is my opinion.

By the way. I will buy RERevelations (as Im a fan of the series and RE4 on my Wii is one of the best games Ive played). I will buy Mario Kart IF they will release it, because I had hours and hours of fun with the series in the past and would love another round. Ill buy Windwaker as its the only one in the series I didnt play, and I will of course buy Pikmin3, Mario Galaxy3 (or what ever it will be named), Smash Bros, Zelda and all those games. But I think Nintendo should get their shit together. Stop fooling around with mobile games etc and instead give us a very good VC. They had so great visions on this service, but dropped the ball. Get it up and do what you had in mind at first. And more importantly, stop being so f***** silence. Show something of the best stuff, otherwise a lot of people will give up on you.

        • I can certainly relate to your bit of disappointment. I bought the Wii U originally because playing Zombi U at E3 sold me on it. I’m disheartened by the lack of support from third party developers aside from Ubisoft, but Nintendo is currently in the process of moving things forward.

I remain optimistic to see what the company has in store for E3 that will hopefully raise the install base for Wii U and we’ll see more third party support.

          • Magnus Eriksson

I know you are optimistic. And I honestly hope that you are right, altough Im very pessimistic. I think Nintendo has dropped the ball just to many times. They had some fantastic ideas, but the initial result felt so halfheartened. Like what they did with Virtual Console on Wii, and doing with it now on WiiU. I would wish that they had did something mindblowing with this service, ready at launch.

And a better integration of Wii in the WiiU could have opened up for downloadable Wii titles like Galaxy 1 and 2. I think all this things gave it a bad taste of “it could have been so much better”.

I dont know if they could change this with some future update or so. But it could have been so much more awesome. And I know Nintendo must have thought of this themselves somewhere down the road…

          • Arthur Jarret

Personally – I could wait another year for the big titles.

The constant stream of quality indie titles combined with online monster hunter is more than enough to tide me over.

After I despised and boycotted capcom for so long due to their DLC methods and megaman legends 3, it’s incredible how this single game turned my opinion around.

        • Preach my brotha, I agree 100% with everything. I think the Wii U VC should bring stuff we didnt get back in the day instead of the same old sh_t over & over again, plus it sucks they r making us pay again. They could bring us Street Fighter 3, Marvel vs Capcom, the older Tekkens, just new VC we never got to play. Your right this could have been the perfect oppertunity for them. I was the first to get my wii @ GameStop & the first to put my pre order in for the delux bundle. And there is nothing now, I have bought every game for the system to help support but I can’t do it alone, now the industry aka 3rd parties r lacking the support that’s when it hurts us the most. We dished out way to much to support & we r getting nothing but 2 yr old ports no DLC. All this stuff we were promised before launch is not happening. I rather some attachment like the April fools Super Wii U to make the system push more power to compete for next gen that would at least be trying for us core gamers. Looks like history repeating again, with the sequal to Eternal Darkness, they going to a company to make a game engine that’s supposed to be on par with next gen. If my memory serves me right that’s how Conduit was born for the Wii. It looked good but nowhere close to God Of War type graphics. It’s happening again. Please Nintendo just once put some money into your system stay on par with the competition as well as be innovative it won’t break the company to do so. I know I’m always the black sheep of the family literally, but I have spent allot of my money for support to get weak line ups & cancelations.

Hadde tenkt å kjøpe uansett, men nå er all tvil borte!

      • Magnus Eriksson

Haha! Självklart! Ser sjukt snyggt ut. Extra roligt att det var norskt då. 🙂

  • SickPhantom

I know it’s off-topic but… Is anyone else having issues with NBA 2k13 on Wii U so they can’t get in the game???

  • Zombie Boy

Looks like another game to add to my wishlist…

  • D.M.T

I like all the love Wii U is getting from indie developers but I wish the WiiU would get the same type of love from the mainstream developers as well. I’m just not a fan of download-only games

The month of May is such a boring month if you’re a Nintendo fan. I know June will be hot with A LOT of Wii U news, E3 and Nintendo Directs.

I need to stay patient I know but it’s kinda hard because I want Nintendo haters to shut up already about the Wii U.

Who i kidding? Haters will hate no matter what but at least we can prove them wrong when we get tons of good Wii U news next month.

    • D.M.T

The reason why I’m not a fan of download-only games is because I’m old school, I want physical copies to create a collection of games.

      • Magnus Eriksson

Talking to yourself… Yeah, you really need someone to talk to. Remember, nothing of this is your fault. Its probably rooted in your childhood or something. Good luck my friend. 🙂

    • Magnus Eriksson

Actually, you are one of the haters here. You should start to work a little with yourself and that temper of yours. Maybe you should get someone to talk to? It might help 🙂

    • Elem187

I’m looking forward to purchasing RE:Revelations… I’ll probably be renting the Sniper game.
And whatever VC games come (Super Metroid, awwww yeah)

  • Desend

I will be purchasing this the day it comes out. Need to support companies like this for sure in hopes that they can later down the line become a bigger/better company.

  • Nintyfan

    Indies FTW! 😀

  • juancamiloarq

    Hmm… Looks quite interesting. Yay!

  • Javy G

This game looks beautiful and huge! A must buy. For I love puzzle/adventure games.

  • david jarman

It looks sweet! I’m all for it! It kind of reminds me of beyond good and evil. PLUS! It looks turn base and I’m all for old school rpging!

    • Magnus Eriksson

      Yeah, it kind of does.

    • Levi Johansen

BG&E-ish and turn based mechanics, in the very same game!!!

  • Super Buu

Indie Developers are on freaking FIRE!

    • Levi Johansen

and Nintendo is the only one smart enough to take advantage of it!

Because of the smart phone app-market Indy devs have been making money in recent years, and from the money and increased interest they have also earned skills.

      • I wouldn’t say Nintendo is the only one smart enough to take advantage of it. Sony has been doing a lot with indie developers as well. It’s funny, this console generation started out with Microsoft promoting them, but now nearly all developers have had a bad experience with them.

Next gen should be very interesting.

  • Elem187

Day one purchase… The art style is absolutely amazing.

  • Tannealle Merryman

    Going on my list 🙂

  • Kalai3

This look so fun! Will buy.

  • RyuNoHadouken

    looks like a fun game

  • Oni

Game looks decent and i’d like to play it but some things should be addressed and fine tuned before they release it. The character look so bland and the lack of life in their eyes was weird, and the world itself didn’t look to appealing and not much life around it, they could do good to add some more animations in there (like when he pressed the switch, could show him actually pressing it) I want to get it, but def looks like it could use more work. Just my 2 cents.
