One of the biggest limitations for WiiWare during the previous console generation was that file size for titles had to be less than 50MB. In terms of space for games these days, that’s extremely paltry. A fan recently took to Twitter to ask Shin’en how they were enjoying not having such a limitation to Wii U and the response was that their latest game, Fast Racing Neo, will have “hyper real graphics” due to no limitations on space.

We’re happy to see developers like Shin’en taking advantage of the fact that the Wii U offers more storage space than the Wii and knowing Shin’en’s development history with Nintendo consoles, it’s likely that Fast Racing Neo will be the spiritual F-Zero game that everyone wants it to be.

  • Can’t wait to see screenshots!

  • Ony

    Eshop game – 168Go.

    My Wii U is ready.

    • Matteo Ferrazzi

      because 16 x 50mb = 168 gb right?

      • Ony

        ~Irony when you hit us~

    • Gameonfool

      There is 8mb for 1MB so 16x50mb = 100MB
The wii had 40-44 MB not mb

      • Matteo Ferrazzi

it was 50 MB. so we’re looking at 800 MB

  • Sdudyoy

Well don’t just talk about how great it looks, show us!

    • Alexander Kleinwechter

      Brilliant comment! Love it πŸ™‚

    • Stoenk

      give them time

      • Sdudyoy

        It’s more of a joke. πŸ™‚

        • Ducked

          It’s the “I can’t wait” joke :p

          • andrewjcole

Nice new pic, I must say.

          • Ducked

            Thank you

        • Rinslowe

          No way…
They have a solid history of delivering. At the very least, it will be gorgeous.

          • Sdudyoy

I know it will look good, I was joking about showing us now, I want to wait for them to be ready when they show off the game.

  • Carlos Coronado

    Common Nintendo Show new F-zero

  • D.M.T

I’m not sure what hyper real graphics mean but I’m excited, I wanna see some screenshots or a trailer for this game.

  • Super Buu

A trailer would be nice. I recommend everyone into F-Zero or Arcade racers to try this game out. The original was pure bliss to play through.

  • Ac7iVe

Ok this is off topic but is there a way to find out what the digital sales are for wonderful 101 ? Vgchartz says 80k for physical but I have a feeling the digital sales are higher.

    • The only company that has that information is Nintendo and unfortunately they don’t detail digital sales.

      • Fred

How sad that game deserved to sell millions it’s a super fun game!!!

        • Ac7iVe

I agree the game is awesome , epic and fun. I wish the sales pick up so we can get a sequel

          • Fred

That would be awesome, but how to do you get the sales to pick up this far removed from release date?

        • Ducked

Wonderful 101 was a well made game, but some of the gameplay felt a little sloppy put together. I enjoyed W101, but not as much as I anticipated.

          • Fred

Do you know anyone that regretted buying it? To me that’s the key. If you spend $60 on a game and the majority of people have no regrets about their purchase then it should be selling a lot more than 80k copies

          • Ducked

It’s not the regrets, it’s people who don’t like trying new things. Which is big in North America.

          • Fred

Isn’t it ironic, people beg and plead for new IP and something different. With the Wonderful 101 they get what they’ve been begging for and it only sells 80k! No wonder Nintendo doesn’t listen to us, we don’t know what we want.

          • Ducked

Well I think the gameplay was just to complex for Western gamers. I don’t think they really need new IP’s right now, because their current ones are so great.

          • Fred

It wasn’t just Western gamers, that game sold worse in Japan than it did here. I’m just disappointed that they have a game that good and so few people are playing it.

          • Ducked

Yeah true, I think a lot of people just didn’t understand it. I think Nintendo should try making a Action Adventure JRPG. But again, they already have tons of IP’s, Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Pikmin, etc. Maybe they should bring back Star Fox…

          • Fred

I would love another Star Fox. I would also love to know when X is coming, that game has me super excited!

          • Ducked

I’ve been trying to play Xenoblade but the game costs so much lol. How is it?

          • Fred

It is awesome. My favorite game in years. If you get it on black friday at gamestop it’ll finally be a good price I think $40.
I paid $80 for it and have no regrets so $40 is a steal

        • Rinslowe

Just bad timing. Maybe they should have held off for late Dec? Ride some of that SM3DW popularity. Cause lets face it, there wasn’t too much of a chance Mario was going to flop…. After E3 most of the world knew it was something special…

  • Ducked

So excited for this! Pretty much the next F-Zero

  • Kenshin0011

Will definitely this game seeing how much hard work ad dedications the devs have put into it! Respect for harnessing the power!

  • Gameonfool

Hyper real graphics, I’ve been hearing something similar to that from the ps n64 days,
    And it ain’t happened yet

  • Mr. Berzerk

Sounds like the makers of fast racing neo and its hyber graphics like to use adjectives and adverbs to describe their ultra mega cool super uber product. Makes them sound like posers using buzz words about a topic they know nothing about.

  • Sydney Ultrasyd

    Yesssssssssssss !

  • erich80

Shin’en guys give so much love for Nintendo, and this is great!

But Nintendo should give some love as well to F-Zero fans… πŸ™

  • Shota

nintendo and shin’en working together on f-zero would be awesome!

    • Yeah. I’m sure Shin’en could find some interesting ways to bring something new to F-Zero, since Nintendo apparently can’t think of any new ways. And, at least, Shin’en would make it visually-stunning.

  • person

Why didn’t they just slap the F-zero name on it and make it the next F-zero?

    • fireheartis1

They can’t do that F-Zero belongs to Nintendo. The have to get special permission from Nintendo to make an F-Zero game.

  • CyanideInsanity

Unless I’m understanding them wrong , and I’m no expert on all things resolution, but aren’t those texture sizes ridiculously unnecessary for 1080p?

    • sharlo galmo

4-8K textures downgrade for 1080p, so this means it gonna look verry sharp..

      • CyanideInsanity

I understand downscaling, but isn’t there a point where the quality can’t get better until the video output is increased?

        • sharlo galmo

The only way it can be better, is with 4k tv’s, but what they can do with 4-8k texture is make things sharper… look at those picture’s

          2k resolutie

          4k resolutie

          • Rinslowe

True. There’s not a massive noticeable leap from 4k to 8k like what we see here from 2 – 4. But I’m confident that Shin’en would only use 8k textures where it’s making a difference. These guys being absolutely crazy about optimal performance across the board…

They made the Wii almost comparable last gen with their games. Easily some of the best looking on the system. So what they can achieve on Wii U is promising. NAN being a gorgeous E-shop title also…

          • sharlo galmo

but did you now that nano is a 3ds port? and shin’en say that they can make nano 70% better then what it is right now. but they choose not to do much about it,cause it was beautyfull already.

          • Rinslowe

Yeah, exactly. In fact it was one of the games they honestly stated not needing too much optimisation due to being a launch title…
And they still achieved that at next to no MB’s at all. Simply amazing.

          • CyanideInsanity

It might just be that I’m tired, but that really doesn’t look like hd textures on the first one. Specifically the ground, when compared to skyrim and fallout 3/NV 2k texture mods. The mountains and building might be throwing me off too, because those are definitely not hd textures.

Also looking at comparison on the ign forums, using that same first picture, I saw no difference between the 4k and 8k textures.

          • Josiah Parsons

            What game is that?

  • Donaald

    8k textures + S3TC = Epic Win!

    • sharlo galmo

      Indeed Epic Win!

  • Nintenjoe82

Nano Assault Neo was also a ridiculously small download. Imagine what they could do with a DVD, let alone a Bluray..

  • fireheartis1

I’ve said this before, but I love the first Fast Racing League, so I know this one is going to be amazing as well.

  • Squid

  • Rick Valenta

How good are the graphic going to be on this game, like real looking? Like real life, like a movie? HYPER REAL dude……HYPER REAL…..

  • BGhp

    I can’t wait

  • mojack411

Can’t wait for the first trailer.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

Would be nice to actually show some footage of this game in action. Nice to hear, but I think most of us would prefer to see for ourselves.

  • Jake

Shin’eh is amazing. They really know how Nintendo hardware works and puts lots of effort in their games. While the one on wii u ( can’t think of the name) was small and didn’t have much to offer, the textures were amazing in the short time they had and I had an amazing time. Fast racing probably will be amazing. I did gear they are making another game. So if it is a sequal or something new I now shin’en won’t let me down.

  • Boss Hoss

    Went outside… Graphics were crap.

  • Justagamer

I want this awesome game!!!!!!!!!!!! Now show us!!!!!!!!

  • Johny

did anyone actually doubt THE great shin’en ?

  • Will (ishigum)

Well show us. Whip it out. lol

  • Rinslowe

If Fast Racing league on Wii is anything to go by, FRN is going to look phenomenal. Shin’en using 4k + textures is scary good news, lol.

    • DJKeens

Just looked at a video of FRL and for a wii shop title it uses some pretty impressive effects so yeah with the exponential increase in power on Wii u I’m really excited to see what they can do. That and nano assault looked astounding on Wii u so it can only get better.

      • Rinslowe

Considering that Shen’in have confirmed using a deferred engine for FRN, tessellation and 4 – 8k textures.
They really need to get on with a show and tell already!

  • Josiah Parsons

    So. Psyched.
    Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

Well… show something then… IM WAITING!!

  • jhell

    show it now

  • SkyStormXD

Shin’en puts Wii U to maximum utilization by Fast Racing Neo.
VD Dev puts 3DS to maximum utilization by IronFall.
    Hats off to these developers!

  • Leorio

can’t wait to see some screenshots/gameplay lol

  • Mitch Hall

Nintendo should make Shin’en a second-party studio and have them make a new F-Zero.

    • ItzameyaToad

I agree Nintendo should acquire Shin’en as a second party studio but I really think that if Fast Neo lives up to the past Fast game then people may be satisfied when it comes to wanting another F-Zero game, at least maybe for awhile.

      • Mitch Hall

Still, the game would undoubtedly sell better if it had F-Zero in the title.

  • Guest

Any chance Nintendo steps in last minute, loves it, does a bit of paperwork and tells them to slap on “F-Zero” as the title?

  • Baum γ€Œγƒ„γƒͺー」

And thus one of the smallest 2nd party dev teams at Nintendo shat on everyone saying Wii U can’t handle such visuals…

*seriously it’ll be just about world size/how much stuff can be shown at once between PS4 and Wii U.

  • C.S. Bailey

Can’t wait for the first trailer!!

  • Rodger Jamjet

It seems to me that Nintendo are very much sand-bagging the real potential of their Wii U console. It’s looking like its got a lot of power in reserve and can easily push through massive textures with smooth frame rates. Makes ea dice and many others seem like amaturers.

  • InterTreble

I hope Rockstar, Bethesda and all Nintendo haters will learn from Shin’en about how powerful Wii U can be. The main issue about Wii U hardware is that while Shin’en, as well as Criterion, have demonstrated it is absolutely comparable to the next gen, the other SH just folloe the “fashion of time” and today it is PS4 and X1. Tomorrow it will be Wii U, once the early adopters of PS4 and X1 will shout: “Where are the next gen games?!?!”

    • Daniel Gonzalez

“The main issue about Wii U hardware is that while Shin’en, as well as Criterion, have demonstrated it is absolutely comparable to the next gen”

Don’t believe too much in your own hype. PS4 and Xbox One will pass in graphics by plenty against the Wii U. I can say that the PS3 and 360 are weaker in comparison to the Wii U, but Wii U won’t be near the PS4 and XB1 at all this generation. I get that you’re a diehard Nintendo fan, but let’s stick to reality and not get lost in dreams.

I enjoyed my Wii games for a long time, and I’m sure the Wii U will have it’s great games this generation, but visuals won’t be on par. Most of the world and fans know that. Besides, since when did Nintendo diehard fans care about graphics? Thought it was about great gameplay? Lol.

Also, Rockstar and Bethesda don’t need any pointers from Shin’en. Lol. Games like GTA V and Skyrim are the best selling games of their generation. It’s sad to see crazy fans like yourself actually stoop down this far and try to discredit good companies just because they don’t bring their games to Nintendo consoles. They have their reasons, which is that majority of Nintendo fans buy Nintendo games.

“Tomorrow it will be Wii U, once the early adopters of PS4 and X1 will shout: “Where are the next gen games?!?!”

Of course, because it just released, no games will be around that fast. Lol. Secondly, Sony and Microsoft fans know that games will come and neither have disappointed in that regard in the last gen. A year later, and the Wii U doesn’t have the big must haves with the exception of Super Mario 3D World.

I like your passion, and that’s a good thing. However, you’re misguided to believe too much in what you read or you have a hard time facing the truth. To each their own.

  • CEObrainz

Can’t wait to see this game, if it’s anything like F-Zero that makes it an insta-buy for me!

  • Pics or it didn’t happen. =]

  • Just give me “WipEout U”. Would buy it in a flash of a second.

    • Make it F-Zero instead of WipeOut with me, and I’d buy it.

You hear THAT, Nintendo?! I’d buy F-Zero for Wii U.

      o_o Now make it.

  • Guest

Okay, guys. Here you have it–some Nintendo fans talking a bit about how they’d like to see some very pretty visuals. Now, no one can complain if a fan of another platform does the same. lol

  • Fuzunga

That game still has the worst name. So generic. FRN isn’t much better, since it reminds me of a plant. I hope the game is awesome, though. I needs me some F-Zero style action. It’s been 10 years!

  • Merrfn

    I can’t wait!
