Nintendo has come a long way since 2013, when the company attempted to ban Super Smash Bros. from being played at Evo 2013, the annual fighting games festival that is watched by thousands. The company also met with a bit of sour resistance over copyright claims on YouTube content, but it looks like Nintendo is finally on the right track. At this year’s Evo 2014 event, Nintendo was an official sponsor and Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime even addressed the crowd with a special video, which you can see above. It’s obvious Nintendo wants to capitalize on the enthusiasm for Super Smash Bros. by making sure fans are hyped about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Let’s hope Nintendo remains a sponsor for Evo 2015 and beyond and hopefully we’ll see the new Super Smash Bros. featured at next year’s main event. local_offer Nintendo reggie fils-aime Super Smash Bros wii u stars Further Reading Confirmed: Breath of the Wild is the last Wii Reggie: Switch matchmaking and lobbies handle Switch vs Wii U game case size comparison Miyamoto dismisses the Wii U as a “nece 6 reasons to grab a Nintendo Switch before March 6 reasons to skip the Nintendo Switch for now Darius First!!!! RyuNoHadouken Super horn JoshuaMariguez197 Ghost Vextrum No Johns. ~OMEGA~ what does it mean? SoulSighter “No Johns.” Is a competitive smash term for no excuses. An example being “You only won because of _______!” BUT this is amazing because it shows that nintendo has been doing their research and is actually listening to the competitive side! So this is great news all together, and a step in the right direction for the big N! The Clockwork Being Someone that keeps on making excuses on why they lost. It is commonly used in the competitive smash bros community. Reggie was giving a shoutout to the Melee crowd Edit: The word was created in reference to a smasher in the SSB documentary named John. DragonSilths I was thinking he meant I couldn’t play…lol LuLz Nooooo…the new game is too slow-paced and casual to be played competitively. It’s for babies just like Brawl. All the hardcore professionals only play Melee. (Be sure to read in a nasally voice with a slur and/or lisp) ~OMEGA~ oh the sarcasm! 😛 also No Johns? The Clockwork Being Someone that keeps on making excuses on why they lost. It is commonly used in the competitive smash bros community. Reggie was giving a shoutout to the Melee crowd Edit: The word was created in reference to a smasher in the SSB documentary named John Potemkin …but it really is like that… Zanzama Fast pace doesn’t add competitiveness to the game… it merely makes you mash more buttons when the competitive aspect should be about understanding the game mechanics and using them to their full potential. It’s a competition about the game… not about how fast you can mash the button combinations in quick succession without slipping your finger. Those who are proud about their quick thumbs should stick to some hardcore thumb wrestling… http://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ls359sV46h1qcca01o1_500.gif Potemkin That’s not the case here, but you are right. Being a speedy game does not make it any more competitive. The problem with Brawl doesn’t solely rely on the speed, but also on the moon jumps and the silly tripping it had and the core mechanic of the game that pushed everyone into playing the game not like they wanted to, but how Sakurai wanted people to play it, and that is where Melee succeeded. Allowing people to play the game how they wanted to. LuLz Ugh LuLz Well shoot, maybe you doing stick to street fighter. Potemkin I’m doing so, indeed, and I will also with Guilty Gear Xrd 🙂 Brawl is a great family/kid game, but sadly it can’t be taken to a tournament level due to it’s reliance on luck (tripping). I hope that Smash Bros. 4 is more like Melee in that aspect, and aims to be more competitive. Potemkin I’m buying Smash Bros for Wii U, although it doesn’t shape to be that much of an improvement over Brawl, it does look better. Also! I’m calling Ike as my main! 😀 Phoenix Maybe It felt like a giant ad for Smash Bros. 4, but at least it shows that Nintendo cares about its fans. lonewolf88 reggie coming after us all confirmed bizzy gie Yo! Reggie! Thomas Vienna I really hope Nintendo decides to give these games a proper name. I guess it won’t happen at this point, though. I recently went on vacation, and my friends and family enjoy seeing what I’ve been doing. Joseph Oliveira Wonder if the later comments is going to be the SSB Melee Elitists-jerks saying more bullshit crap of why items is in place for SSB 4 again….. A – Kuma I really hope the new game makes it into EVO because i’ll be playing it like crazy and may end up making an appearance. Between all that I’ve seen and all that I’ve read I feel like this will be a harmonic balance between Melee and Brawl.
