May 22nd, 2014

Despite opting to have a digital press conference instead of a live press conference like competitors Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo still has one of the largest booths this year at E3. As you can see the floor plan for the LA Convention Center’s West Hall is laid out above, with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo right next to each other. Nintendo currently has three booths on the floor, making it one of the largest areas in the main hall. Sony has three booths as well and while the Microsoft booth is pretty large, there’s only one this year.

In my experience at the last two E3 events, the smaller Nintendo booth will likely be for press-only presentations held by producers and marketing directors, while the larger booth will have all the game demos you’ll be able to play if you’re attending this year.

Not to shabby and can’t wait to go

  • SolarShane13

Wow. This is outdated! Wii U Daily is now “Mario Kart Daily” and “Wii U Weekly”.

Good bye, Wii U Dai—, err Mario Kart Daily and Wii U Weekly!

  • Blue Hernandez

Hey Ashley I’m not sure if you know this but Hover: Revolt of Gamers has passed it’s kickstarter stretchgoal for the Wii U.

  • Mr Ninty

where is the ‘please understand’ stand :p

    • “Sean” jjbredesen
      • darkcreap

        Hilarious ๐Ÿ˜€

        • “Sean” jjbredesen

Well it beats “Pokemon Uranus” need to make a new chart xD

        Iwata jokes are getting old

        • “Sean” jjbredesen

Please understand, that you understand that i understand, that we understand to understand that they are not getting old, thank you for understanding ๐Ÿ™‚

  • “Sean” jjbredesen

O_O That is a lot of space, they must have a lot of demos to show!

But what exactly? We know there will be smash, and we know there will be a NFC game demo, and i am guessing that X and Hyrule Warriors will be playable, and perhaps Watch Dogs U?

But with all that space, there will be a lot more, only 18 days, 21 hours and 51 seconds, left until Play Nintendo is broadcasted!

    • Virus6

They have said they’ll have some previously unannounced games present. Zelda will be for sure also.

    • Zuxs13

Didn’t read that awesomely real Nintendo game list that was floating around? lol. Who knows, this is either going to be a 10 year anniversary bash of Nintendo E3 domination in 2004, or a repeat of last year.

      • “Sean” jjbredesen

Yeah, the one with the totally legit 2006 Nintendo logo, and incomplete titles? Does not get anymore real!

And lets not forget the one that the totaly legit NOA account posted!

  • Zuxs13

Ashley this is the updated one correct? I like the set up. its interesting to see Oculus ir right next to Nintendo.

    • Yes this is the one that’s being shown in the E3 app for Android/iOS.

      • Zuxs13

Where will you guys be at? hanging out in the hallways collecting street passes?

        • I’ll be doing coverage from the Nintendo booth on the first day and bouncing around between the other two to help the contributors for Xbox One Daily and PS4 Daily.

          • “Sean” jjbredesen

Cool, how about adding a E3 countdown widget on the frontpage?

          • Zuxs13

Oh that will be awesome lucky you. Will you check out Oculus’ booth too? I’m interested in how the tree house broadcast will go as well.

          • Yeah I may stop by if I have some spare time! I’m interested to see how it all works. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • Zuxs13

  • Nostalgic_Chaos

    Please, Nintendo.

Just give us a broad games library that makes usage of Online features. Please… That is all I ask for. Give us games that have expansive Online modes. I want to play my games and enjoy them with other people now, competitively and co-operatively. While single player options are good, some of us prefer to play Online as well.

    • “Sean” jjbredesen

And that is exactly why we need: Metroid U or Star Fox U!

Imagine a Starfox assault, with Mass Effect style ground controls, a huge amount of weapons and vehicles to chose from and 12vs12 online etc.

And a Metroid prime 2 style multiplayer, with refined gameplay, loads of weapons and the ability to use spaceships etc.! Would be awesome!

      Make it happen Nintendo!

      • Nostalgic_Chaos

I like that. I’m hoping for those things.
I’m one of those people who loves Online multi player sometimes even more than Single Player. I know that might sound like a sin to some people, but that’s just the way it is for me. Maybe it’s because I grew up an only child. I didn’t have siblings to play my games with when I was younger. Played with friends a lot, yeah, but then as I grew up, I realised that I’m a hardcore gamer and that it’s not just a hobby. My other friends stopped playing video games at a certain age. I didn’t. I still enjoy them now the same way I did when I was a kid.

So, when Online games started to come out, I went ham for it and embraced it. I’ve had a burning desire to just play games with other people since my friends stopped playing games.

Nintendo needs to understand that not everyone can do local multi player, or has friends near them to do that, so I have a huge gripe when they ONLY include local and neglect online. Get with the program, Nintendo!

        • DC777

          Like a “Metroid Online”?

Wii U could really use an online mmo type game to expand the library. I often feel that it’s a major short coming when all I can really play online (that has actual ppl) is Ghosts. They should have made a deal for a DCUO, SWTOR, FFXIV if they haven’t made one of their own.

If they did I might sell my gaming pc.

        • Rinslowe

It’s the only reason why I’ll play COD of Battlefield. Most of the campaigns I haven’t even finished yet…

          • Nostalgic_Chaos

Ah, I love Battlefield. One of my favourite games series.
Not really a fan of the COD series, even though I own Ghosts and Black Ops 2 on the Wii U. Haha! Really, though, I just enjoy the intensity of the online play. Like you said, that is really the only reason I play COD. I think the dynamics of the game are pretty bad. I just think that the online system is done pretty well. Find games quick etc… It’s easy to just hop online and start playing, so it’s an easy game fix for me.

I never ever touch the campaigns on those games. Ha.
I did a tiny bit of the Battlefield 3 campaign, only about %5 of it, then just went straight back online.

      • Nintenjoe82

Just an HD version of Starfox64’s multiplayer online would be beyond my wildest expectations at this point.

        • Nostalgic_Chaos

That would be nice. Would be even better in a brand new game, though I’m sure. Whatever big games they announce in E3 just better have some good Online stuff. We’re in 2014, they need to make the most of today’s technology. Let me enjoy my games with other passionate gamers around the world.

        • “Sean” jjbredesen

Yeah, but it would still be awesome, personally i love flying the arwing and it is my fav part of the StarFox games, but i liked the darker direction of Assualt, it was expanding on how we think of a StarFox game, so if we could get a Mass Effect style starfox game, that has online deathmatches etc. A huge open world, or lots of planets to explore, with a great campaign etc. i could die happy.

        • Fred

As long as they include voicechat. I’m sorry, but blowing up my buddy isn’t nearly as fun if I can’t smacktalk while doing it.

          • great deku tree

wouldn’t be surprised if they made voice chat in lobby only like MK8. stupid that I want to trashtalk with my friends while smashing them with shells and such.

          • bob

Personally I can stand the voice chat. Just a bunch kids swearing all over the place. No thanks. Metroid prime hunters online would be cool though. Be rank based on the bounties you collect and arena battles, maybe even bigger bounties that would require a team effort.

          • great deku tree

yeah but, as previously suggested by someone else, everyone who isn’t a friend could automatically be muted or another setting could be done. I just feel that not being able to talk with friends during a race is a bit of a let down. imagine not being able to talk during a local multiplayer race. it’d be rubbish

      • lonewolf

So ecerybody could play as Samus only kiling samus after samus?

        • “Sean” jjbredesen

Nah, they could add new characters to!

Such as…….Samus II, Samus III and Samus IV

          • They just have to add me, Trace, Kanden, Weavel, Sprire and Noxus, then everyone is happy especially me because I’m OP in my alternate form!

      • The Clockwork Being

Damn I upvote this. A star fox or Metroid multiplayer only makes sense

The only way I want to see Starfox Online is if it’s like the classics with 4 player co-op in the main campaign and not just vs mode. Maybe have sub missions on foot like in Assault but with more variety in gameplay styles

    • Nintenjoe82

and Gamepad & TV co-op. Activision, Sega and I’m guessing others have already managed this with extensive online features. If Nintendo want to carry on claiming their games are the best, they need to be outdoing the competition on more fronts than just unique controls and tight gameplay. Especially now they’ve conceded defeat in the graphics and loading times department.

      • Nostalgic_Chaos

It shouldn’t just be Smash Bros and Mario Kart that have expansive Online modes. They need to think outside the box in this department. X better have some darn good Online features! Even Zelda could. I mean, why not? Give us something we’ve never seen before.

        • darkcreap

In the first trailer for X there was an image of 4 players and a chat, so I think there could be online play for X. Actually, if it is something similar to Xenoblade, I don’t see why there couldn’t be a possibility to implement local/online multiplayer for story mode.

I mean, you could just assign one of the players to a character instead of making it be managed by the CPU. I think it could be epic to beat monsters and progress through the story cooperating with someone else.

I got most excited today when I heard that Hyrule Warriors would be played in local multiplayer with different screens (One in the gamepad and the other in the TV). It would be awesome. It reminds me of two-player brawlers that I played back in the SNES days. It was huge fan to cooperate with someone to beat the enemies.

EDIT: In general, multiplayer (either online or offline) cooperation for story mode should be implemented more often..

          • Nostalgic_Chaos

Yeah, I remember seeing that on the X trailer. GameXplain did an analyses on it as well.

          • URFTBOUND4LIFE .

Gotta disagree. Online mode is getting out of control. This is why developers think every game HAS to feature them in some way so they just cobble them together.
I’d rather the online to have some kind of relevance other then “keeping up with the times”.
Also not every game will truly benefit this (Zelda for example). Zelda is a single player game and doesn’t really need one and I have yet to hear a justifiable reason for it to have one.

          • Don’t curr. These games all have multiplayer and there’s no reason it should be limited to local.

          • URFTBOUND4LIFE .

The only Zelda Multiplayer game was 4 Swords. Unless they plan to do another I don’t see the point

          • I was talking about Wii U multiplayer games, not zelda. Online mode is definitely not “out of control” on the Wii U. Like 5 games have it. And Four swords DS should definitely have had online.

          • URFTBOUND4LIFE .

I was talking in general with modern games. Most of these games today feature some kind of online mode thats not even worth the servers to run them.

We just avoided DRM on consoles this gen. You guys are trying to kick-start it again?

          • darkcreap

Agreed on Zelda, but what about X? Xenoblade could have worked well in multiplayer.

    • Dรกibhรญ wotshissurname

A very interesting comment about the show floor for E3.

    • Give us Surprice, Excitement and Empathy. That’s all I’m asking for. If it’s just one game to rule them all, let it be. If its 10 good games, hell yeah. But don’t rely on recycling.

    • Chris

I loved the family game night games, and would love to see them on Wii U except Operation didn’t like that one.

  • WiiUPS4

@overlordror:disqus Is there a date when the E3 Best buy dates will be shown for those who can’t go to E3

    • I don’t have information on that yet, but when I do I’ll post it.

      • WiiUPS4

        Thank you very much

  • ActivesiN

dont be fooled people, Nintendo isnt having a live presentation so obviously they are not there at all! *sarcasm*

    • lonewolf

Nobody said if there will be or there wont be live presentation one thing is for sure whatever they do they will be broadcasting it trough out the world in the same time.

      • greengecko007

Nintendo has already said that they will not be doing a stage show at E3 this year, opting instead for their pre-recorded directs.

        • J_Joestar

They are also doing livestreams on the floor/from their booths iirc.

          • greengecko007

Yeah, like the smash bros. tournament. Their big reveals are in their directs.

          • J_Joestar

I was referring more to the treehouse livestream than the tourney.

          • greengecko007

From what I understand the livestreams from Nintendo Treehouse are going to be follow up discussions with developers and demos of the games that are shown in the directs.

  • mac

โ€œWe wonโ€™t be showing off any Nintendo games at E3 this year,โ€ a Ubisoft representative said. :((

  • FutureFox

Nintendo has a lot of real-estate there. More than what the media hinted at.

  • BGhp

Nintendo doesn’t have the biggest show floor at E3.

    • sharlo galmo

Yes they did, they also have the Nokia theather…But who got the biggest floor at E3 then?

    • I would say that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have about the same amount of floor space in that image.

  • A Rod

and where the hell are the bathrooms?

  • Gamerrr72

I hope there’s at least some acknowledgement that Nintendo is taking on-line more seriously than previous years with the Wii U. I have a feeling shutting down online for the Wii and DS is to focus on the Wii U. I’d like to see them spend some money and build on their online infrastructure. I’d like to see Nintendo showcase multiple games that utilize on-line features. Nintendo has the money and resources to compete and now is the time. Kudos for making MK8 a 12 player online. Let’s do this Nintendo, make your gamers proud!

  • Daniel

But i though nintendo wasnt going to e3

    • Shootdatrupee!…

What? Why would you think that?

  • barwiifan

How does one actually go to E3?

    • FutureFox

Become a member of the press.

      • Shootdatrupee!…

        Well we’re f*cked.

      • barwiifan

I wish you could buy tickets or something like that.

        • FutureFox

Well I know its a long…looooong shot, but Nintendo does have that Super Smash Bros. People’s Challenger contest where you could win a trip to E3.

You have to post something about why you like SSMB on Instagram and do some nonsense with that. You also get a chance to play against a SSMB Invitational winner if you win.

Ends May 27th. Go to nintendolife site for more details.

  • Rinslowe

Looks very similar to the rumoured floor plan. Nice.
Looks like Nintendo will have yet another great looking set of booths with playable content. Lucky rascals who get to go and try the games out first hand. Still I’ll be busy with Kart and video’s of the demo games are good enough for me, until they release…
Zelda U. What’s it gonna be like?

  • WiiUPS4

@overlordror:disqus Here are 40 new screen shots of Hyrule Warriors

  • Rodger_Ramjet

Everything these days MUST include voice chat and online multiplayer!! Nintendo has always made it clear of bringing people together so why do they keep online multiplayer on the back burner in there games!? WiiU is such an awesome bit of kit but Nintendo themselves have let it down in the early life cycle, but looking up and up of late. C’mon Nintendo and WiiU … Give WiiU owners more online multiplayer functions and games to connect gamers globally.

  • Commander Jim

Wow, look how much the consoles dominate the industry. Two thirds of the floor completely taken up by Sony, MS and Nintendo.

  • Marioman21

    I wish I could go

  • Marcin Kowalik
