Perhaps the biggest surprise to come from recent announcements was Sega’s partnership with Nintendo that would see three Sonic games released exclusively on the Wii U. The first of those is Sonic Lost World, a new game that brings in elements of the old Sonic games mixed with new parkour style jumps and tricks. We went hands-on with the title at E3 this year.

The game plays pretty smoothly and should appeal to Sonic fans who enjoy the early Genesis games, as well as those who want something a little bit different from the blue hedgehog. Let us know what you think of the game in the comments below.

Don’t know still seems that it could be really awkward to play, 3D sonic games just seem really awkward with the constantly turning levels IMO

  • gamesplayswill

Hmmm, I was skeptical at first but it doesn’t look half bad.

  • Sora Morp

    Looks great

  • Linskarmo

I can see why Nintendo didn’t make SMG 3. This looks like it could be fun.

    • John Raybell

      Im glad they didn’t make SMG3 🙂
after the first two galaxy games I was ready for “something new” not what we are getting from 3d world either, I wanted something different, something new and fresh!

hope this isnt more of the same!

Yeah it could be neat, looking forward to other games more though 🙂

      • Linskarmo

I agree with what you said. I expected more innovation with the 3D Mario, but I still think it looks good. We’ll have to wait and see what it’ll really be like.

  • Kyle

I can’t look at this without thinking about Super Mario Galaxy

  • Luna Moonfang

I must say, i love the new gameplay mechanic (like those parkour stuff), but i quite didn’t like the new effects, they look like something cartoonish rather than generation-ish; don’t get me wrong, this Sonic looks like a great game, but i simply think the “more real” kind of artwork seemed to fit more on the Sonic universe,

    Luna, the Moonrider~
(this is just my opinion, you are free to think whatever you want >.>)

    • Yogo

This is what most gamers have evolved into. Games are supposed to be cartoony and fantasy like but now we have to have games that have real life physics and graphics -_-

      • Luffy

yeah, give me cartoony almost anytime before realist (there is exceptions, but I usually prefer cartoony to realistic games)

        • Luna Moonfang

          Well, that’s your opinion >.>
But still, yeah, i wont deny Wind Waker HD is ABSOLUETELY GORGEOUS!
          (please read in my older comment that i’ve said only about the Sonic unviserse, which i, my person, me, liked more the kind of Generations art style). So, by all means, i’m sorry for that little trouble around here, i didn’t want to cause troubles ;-;

          • John Raybell

Yeah that’s hard to do around here, 90% of the people here are freaking mental!

        • ^What he said.

        • Mario

          Me too.

        • John Raybell

          depends on the game, period!

Twilight princess looks better and suits zelda art style much better then wind waker and skyward sword, no idea why they did that crap to zelda. but this is what I think. its fine you like to play cartoons ;P

      • Luna Moonfang

        Now now, i’m terribly sorry.
I just think games like Zelda fits perfectly the art of non-realism (see Skyward Sword or Wind Waker HD, which are simply joyness and beautifulness to our eyes), but in other games, like Sonic, it feels (TO ME!) a bit weird; i don’t want every game in the world to be ultra-fotorrealistic in graphics, high res shadows and extreme advanced physics. (especially because games are meant to get out of the real world, or to the so called virtual world).
Again, i’m sorry! I didn’t want to cause troubles around here…

        • Yogo

Sorry for attacking you, but I’m just sick and tired of people judging games by it’s graphics and art style instead of gameplay 🙁

          • John Raybell

but a game is about the whole! graphics help be immersed in our games. I don’t want REAL looking games, but games that look amazing don’t hurt, a realistic look but not full on real looking isn’t bad either, as long as the right art style is used.

    • everyone

I’m fine with any style of artwork in the Sonic games. As long as it has good and addicting play control. I wouldn’t downvote you for that opinion.

  • Superstick98

Looks awesome imo. Can’t wait to play It.

  • Jon

I think I’ll end up getting this when it comes out…..if i have money, if not, then when i get money 😛

  • Kinky Keath

    Please have chaos!!!

  • david jarman

    Holy guacamole!

  • Malik Gilbert

I hope he runs fast idk about a slowed down sonic …..:(

    • Shadriczo

So if you run too fast, would that mean you would die instantly if you can’t clamp on the brakes in time by falling to your doom?

      • Malik Gilbert

That never happens to me I play the levels so much it becomes muscle memory I never crashed into walls in generations once I got used to the game

        • Luffy

i really think this will help bringing what sonic was all about at first: great platforming. He is fast, yes, but his games used to be about more then just racing.

    • everyone

The way they were describing it in an interview they said you control the speed with holding one of the triggers. So if you are familiar with the levels or just wanna blast through it they let you. They also showed a demo of a level where you had to run fast in a honey comb type level.

  • SirDjss

my wallet is gonna be pretty empty this year from buying all the awsome wii u games commin this yeaf :/

    • Johny

yeah.. on the second thought… im kinda glad X, Bayonetta2 ,Smash arent coming untill next year ._.

  • everyone

Sonic. He can really move. Sonic. Hes got an attitude. Sonic. Hes the fastest thing alive.

  • Aaron Barton

I don’t suppose, since it was a hands-on, that the journalist who played it might want to leave their gameplay impressions? Don’t mean to be rude, but this is just a gameplay video. What’s the point of having someone try the game if they don’t talk about it? I don’t get it.

    • Dana Luckett

He did share his impressions, within the video.

      • John Raybell

HAHAHAHA really? are you freaking kidding me, you couldn’t hear jack, was to loud in there, only words that really stood out was holy guacamole. What a freaking joke of a hands on. lol

What is this “Good morning america.” this place must be lazy land

      • Aaron Barton

It sounded like the same commentary you’d get from a kid trying the game in the store at a kiosk. “WOAHH, COOL!” How about talking about control mechanics? Does Sonic still control like a slippery go-cart, or did they finally fix that problem? Do new moves and mechanics feel clunky and need more polish, and how did the camera feel? Again, unless you address these things that can only be discovered by playing the game yourself, we may as well be watching a Sega rep play the game themselves and telling us it “runs smooth”.

  • Luffy

cant wait for this game! i love sonic and this one looks stellar!

  • DVE

    Sonic Galaxy xD

  • John Raybell

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo where is your hands on????? since when was a video of wiiudaily playing a game a hands on other then you had your hands on the game, this is missing over 90% of what makes a hands on a hands on where are your impressions, details about what you played, what you thought, all that good stuff????

so we saw what we already did days ago? im lost have i time traveled back in time or something?

    filler is filler 🙁

  • Chris Traill

I think it’s nice, kind of makes me feel like what SEGA wanted Sonic Xtreme to be like before it was cancelled for the Saturn.

  • Your money

looks impressive. sonic isnt as fast as his unleased and generations games, but im ready to play something new.
