As many of you may already know, the classic NES game, “DuckTales,” is being remastered for the Wii U, Xbox 360, and PS3. Below is a recent video interview with the game’s director and designer, Austin Ivansmith. The developers’ approach to making the game, as well as new additions players can expect from the game, are some of the things discussed:

“We’re really trying to recapture the spirit of the original game…If you’ve played the original game there will be a lot you remember…We took the original level designs and we found the places where maybe they could use a little more character and we expanded them and added a little more to them.”

“We’re approaching the animation with a very traditional Disney mindset because we want it to stand out and be just a powerful Disney license.”

“We value gameplay and art very highly… the presentation on the game is one of the most important things…the visuals just have to be the best we can make them.”

Personally, I’m really excited for this piece of nostalgia. I had the game when I was a kid and played the heck out of it. I’m relieved they aren’t messing with the original formula too much…as long as I can still use Scrooge’s cane as both a weapon and pogo stick, I’m happy! This will definitely be a day one purchase for me when it releases this summer…DuckTales WOO HOO! How about you? Let us know in the comments below.

Day one purchase for me too! Dug out my NES copy and I still remember how to use the cane as a pogo stick (a to jump, then down and b together)! Can’t wait.

I don’t know if i am being too hopeful but does anyone else get the feeling that Nintendo is hiding something really big for E3.

They haven’t talked much about Wii U much but promised a huge increase in games. They sound very confident. Maybe, they will unveil Wii U’s hidden specs? Just being hopeful here.Maybe a new IP? That would be amazing.Leave a message…

Commenting and promoting hype towards Nintendo and E3 is fine, but do you need to spam your comment across multiple articles?

      • Suraj Alexander

i reposted it cuz there wasn’t any reply to the previous one but then it flourished with discussion.

    • Only a few are true gamers

that would be cool im hoping for a new metroid

      • Denvy

I’d be excited about that as well, but not so much for a Prime style game. Couldn’t get into it.

        • Only a few are true gamers

          I know i want a cool 2d metroid again

    • Dominic Coradazzi

hmmm… maybe an old IP’s revival? here’s hoping for Super Mario RPG 2 🙂

HD Pokemon RPG would be amazing

      • Suraj Alexander

3D HD pokemon. don’t want non of those 2D ones.

        • Møhåmmęd Jårmøn

Well yeah that’s what I meant lol like a red dead redemption type game but with Pokemon

  • Never played. Can someone explain the gameplay?

    • It’s a platformer, kinda like Mario, where you can play as different characters from the tv show, like Scrooge McDuck. You take out enemies with Scrooge’s cane which he can also use like a pogo stick to jump. You also go looking for pieces treasure and the level designs were pretty cool back in the day. So yea, think Mario but with ducks. Sorry, not sure my description helps lol. You might want to look up footage on YouTube of gameplay from the original NES.

      • you helped a lot! thanks! 🙂

I’m very excited for this! I just wish Castle of Illusion would come to the Wii U too 🙁
