Dreamfall Chapters is a successful Kickstarter game that is currently seeking release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but lead developer Ragnar Tornquist has revealed that the developer is in talks with Nintendo about a possible Wii U version. The lack of power behind the Wii U could be a potential problem for the release, however.

“We are also in dialogue with Nintendo. We’re going to be looking at it. We can’t make any promises because the Wii U, it’s underpowered compared to the next-gen consoles and PC obviously. I don’t think that’s a secret or Nintendo would get upset at me.”

Despite the Wii U’s internals, Tornquist admits that the team is going attempt to get the game running on the Wii U and then make a concrete decision depending on how well that turns out. It’s great to hear developers are going to give the Wii U a chance, even if it means a bit of extra work in order to get things going.

  • Zombie Boy

Once they confirm it for a Wii U release then I’ll contribute. I’m not going down the Shadow Of The Eternals road again…

    • iceazeama

pious on the other site would have a problem with this.

      • Zombie Boy

Lol, strange seeing the same faces on different forums!

        • iceazeama

yeah hahahah, are you done with the other site?? people over their are so stupid, they have the worst fanboys= lots of trolls. im only half troll but im just speaking what i think. meaning im not a troll. who cares though the reactions are funny.

          • Zombie Boy

Yeah, that site was a bit too ‘fanboys vs trolls’ for me. I still read the articles every so often, but there’s times when I just want to sit down with a nice cup of tea and talk about Nintendo stuff lol!

          • iceazeama

this site is a little more clean if not a lot. there is pluses for both.

    • John Raybell

Shadow of the eternals road again?

What are you talking about, its still coming out, you know that right?

      • Zombie Boy

Last I heard it wasn’t certain, as they were trying to go down the XBox One / PS4 route as well as the Wii U version, and nobody knows where it stands at the moment.

        • John Raybell

they have a publisher, no body knows who, but they have one now

          • Zombie Boy

Well that’s good news, as there was a reason I contributed toward that game! Hopefully it WILL still come to the Wii U.

          • John Raybell

AS far as I know nothing has really changed, other then no more crowd funding due to them getting a publisher, im almost 100% sure its still coming to wiiU 🙂

      • iceazeama

nintendo really needs games like these more. trust me a game like this for wii u is a reason to look at the wii u as a good machine. they need to pick it up and anyone who doesnt want a game like this on nintendo are one of the reasons why the nintendo base gets so much shit.

    • John Andalora

Re-read the first line again. It says “is a successful kickstarter” .
You don’t need to contribute. It’s paid for.

      • Zombie Boy

As far as kickstarters are concerned, the word ‘successful’ seems to have a lot of different definitions. But fair enough, I was just assuming that more people were asking for money…

  • John Andalora

And the Wii U keeps being burned by developers yet again.

    • iceazeama

life goes on right…… (hangs rope) its just nintendo. (sniff)

  • supreme54

this thing about the wii u being underpowered is really getting old from the looks of the trailer i saw i can honestly say that the wii u is more than capable of running this game if only developers would take the time to take advantage of the wii u newer gpgpu architecture.

    • jay

Mario Kart was said to be the most stunning at E3 booths.

This attitude about Wii U being underpowered just shows how far gaming media scarred Nintendo.

  • Nintyfan

It’s coming to mobiles and tablets so there should be no reason why it can’t run on Wii U.

    • Mark Thom

U really don’t understand how things work……SO DUMB!!!!!!

      • Aleksander

        and you do? haha asshole

  • Nintendofreak

weird how they say ps4 is the most indie friendly console because the go looking for indies…while in the wiiu everyone talks crap about 3rd party support when the indies are comming to us like bees to honey… u.u

  • Mark Thom

NINTENDO IS SO DUMB ASS TO MAKE A !!!!!!underpowered!!!!!! CONSOLE WE COULD MISSED OUT ON THIS GAME……….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsIkNrRUMEg

    • Zuxs13

There is no physical reason why this game cannot be on the wii u.

      • sd

I think the main issue with the Wii U is that it is not an easy port. Because Nintendo use custom chips the games cannot just be ported. Generally they need to be remade and redesigned. But if the Wii U had more power like the other upcoming consoles they would be able to get away with a sloppy port as it be easier to make it run.
I also think that is why some of the next gen game engines struggle, they need to be remade to suit the unique architecture of the console.

    • The Clockwork Being

Im guessing they havent seen the graphics of X.

    • Luna Moonfang

By any chance, are you related/friends with this person whose name on this website is:

    • Guest

Well on the positive thanks for the You tube link Looks like a game to keep an eye out for.

    • jay

Project X and Mario Kart shit all over that trailer.

    • HypoceitesRROD

      You’re the dumbass!

  • Adrian

Well I have no idea what the game is about, but the picture of the girl on the cover looks nice :-p. Unfortunately (for my Wii U) any games that come out on multiplatform and PC, I will probably get for PC. Since I just built a tight one last week it’s gunna get alot of play :). Plus PC version is almost always the best version (from what I hear). Unless a game can make really good use of that second screen on Wii U.

  • Paladinrja

Dreamfall was a very good game, with a real BG&E vibe. I think if its devs can turn it into a franchise Nintendo gamers will be delighted.

  • Justis Bistawros

I really hope this comes to the wii u we need more games man it fucking pisses me off when a good game doesnt come to the wii u.

  • Michael Jurado

I’m sure if we have a game like pikmin 3 they can develop this game

  • Ismael Ototo

Please, enable cloud services on the Wii U now! Imagine how many benefits this would bring to the console, starting with enhanced graphic power. Also, am I the only one that thinks Nintendo should release a motion sensing camera peripheral for Wii U?

    • Nintendude

“Also, am I the only that thinks Nintendo should release a motion sensing camera peripheral for Wii U?”

    • TULFich

it has the gamepad camera, and as a casual and hardcore gamer I think motion camera controls are actually pretty stupid, and people lok stupid playing that way (I tried to do so) Nintendo doesn´t need more supid games like Dance.

      • sd

Looking stupid is part of the fun. I dont mind occassionally having a laugh to just dance on the wii u. Imagine how awful it would be if we were all professional dancers, the fun would be taken out of the game in so many ways. So sometimes I think it is okay to look stupid while having fun. You just need to join in with the laughter.

      • Ismael Ototo

But it’s not about Just Dance or other crappy dancing game. It’s about new gaming dimensions you can achieve with these devices. Just look what Sony has done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=idUZpVjFs3E#at=86

        • TULFich

looks cool, but I still think is stupid. …remember all kinect shit? still looks a fun as that. Is for other type of market I agree, but I don´t want more peripherals on my room. wanna interact like that? then developers should do AR proyectors or helmets for gaming not cameras….still that tech is way away from cheap.

          • Ismael Ototo

Well, we all have to agree on that being awesome! But it isn’t likely to happen. And I do enjoy this kind of experience, however I respect you don’t. Anyways, if Nintendo released a camera device it would satisfy both consumers that like those new ways to interact and those who don’t, since they wouldn’t be forced to buy one.

    • sd

Cloud service gaming would only work with always on gaming. If you need the cloud as processor then nintendo would need to be explicit in ensuring everyone is always connected. I don’t think Nintendo would be that good at this at the moment as it is not one of their strengths.

      • Ismael Ototo

Yeah, I agree with that, but not every game requires enhanced graphics. I just think it would bring many benefits to Wii U, since many developers would be able to port their games to the Wii U.

        • sd

Really not sure why we both got down voted for common sense. Cloud processing would power the game. Therefore the game would not work unless it was connected to the net every time you wanted to play it. Common sense. But yeah developers could utilise the cloud to help them, but it would be a lot of work for Nintendo. Especially (wait for the down vote again) as they are a bit behind their competition for internet based gaming. The other option is for developers to run their own servers.

          • sd

But it is a move they need to make to keep up. They are a great company so they need to succeed.

          • Ismael Ototo

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I’ll vote you up ;D It’s only logical that improved graphic power for the Wii U comes with mandatory online connection; but I rather have that than not getting enhanced graphics-requiring games at all.

And everybody (even Nintendo fanboys) know that Nintendo was left behind when talking about online gaming, but it is progresivily fixing its problems.

  • Lophs

Easy advice Nintendo, people are complaining about lack of third party titles, this you where you step up. Propose 100,000 dollar transfer if they develop for the Wii U.

Same thing with Armikrog kickstarter, which has a stretch goal of just additional an additional 50,000 to develop for the Wii U. See where the kick starter goes and if it doesn’t meet the stretch goal, pony up 50,000 dollars in cash.

That is chump change for Nintendo, big returns on small investments.

  • Sidney Majurie

I’ve never been known to “port beg” but this is one series I want BADLY on Wii U. Huge fan since The Longest Jouney on PC back in the day and loved Dreamfall on Xbox. Nintendo needs to do everything necessary to make this possible.

  • angel

i would be picking up this game, once its out only for the WiiU

  • Inzanoflex

underpower? bahhh maybe your lack of ability to make this game happen on wii u because that technology is too much for you
