The Wii U Miiverse is currently one of the most innovative ways gamers can communicate with one other on their chosen console. Groups for individual games let players discuss strategies, share tips and drawings, and talk about the game with those who are interested. User created groups are great for organizing your friends into game nights and browsing through the Miiverse has recently been improved by Nintendo’s new update. With all that said, what would you like to see next?

Mii avatars have been around since the Wii and while the Wii U added a few creation options to the process, not much else has been added. Nintendo could take a page out of Microsoft’s avatar book by giving people outfits, hats, and other accessories that can be rewards for finishing games. For example, players who finish ZombiU could be rewarded with the bearskin hat worn by palace guards.

Miiverse art is one of the best parts of the whole social network. Being able to share your creations with other gamers is a huge plus, but Nintendo could take it one step further by allowing you to share your drawings across Facebook and Twitter as well. This sharing would increase the exposure of Miiverse to those who don’t own a Wii U, allowing them to see what a great interactive community Nintendo has fostered with the console.

Of course one of the major talking points of the big PlayStation 4 announcement was how the console allows you to share in-game clips directly to YouTube and Facebook. It’s an interesting feature and one that could be achieved on the Wii U if Nintendo were to incorporate the Miiverse with games. Gamers could share in-game clips, hints, and tips directly to groups on the Miiverse.

These are just a few basic ideas that Nintendo could incorporate into the Miiverse to make it more interactive and something more gamers want to experience. Do you have any ideas for the Miiverse? Let us know in the comments below.

I think the Wii U Miiverse and OS has a lot of potential. I believe that most social features that the PS4 has could easily be transferred and have been already with the latest Miiverse release shown at GDC. All we need is a sleep function (which is easy, even age old computers and 3DS have sleep functions) and we’re good to go. I certainly think 1GB RAM is enough to allow a second controller to be used to browse Nintendo Tvii or the web while someone plays a game. Can’t wait to see how complex and large Wii U OS and Miiverse can get in 5 years time!

  • luis

    cross-game chat ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Laud

Yup, this should be one of their main focuses after the April update.

    • Zombie_Andrew

Damn straight, it’s a huge mistake that Nintendo made not having that, and although I don’t think achievements are necessary I think it’d be nice. Maybe change it up a bit and actually reward people with 0.01p discounts on the eShop for every achievement they unlock

      • Laud

Achievements are on the console, it’s up to the developers if they want to implement them or not.

        • Petri

I dont think Wii U has an actual achievement system,
I think it just meant that devs can make achievements available inside their games.
I dont miss them, but I dont think anything would stop them implementing it later on, ps3 didnt have trophies at launch, and it wasnt even planned until they realized the popularity of achievements on 360.

          • D.M.T

Achievements are for people who need motivation to finish a game. It’s sad that Sony and MS fans need achievements. I just wanna play the game and have fun

          • The Clockwork Being

The only achievement I needed was in SSB.Brawl and they where bascically self-made where I completed my challenges, completed everything on intense(with every character) and gain all trophies… I only need the stickers dammit.

Edit: I have bascically mastered every character, well mostly(favorites being Lucas, Toon Link, Pit, Olimar, Marth, Capt Falcon and Zelda/Sheik) and I intend to do the same for the next super smash.

          • Wayne Beck

Have to agree, Achievements are a waste of time. I wouldn’t mind some kind of Mii related Rewards, similar to what Microsoft does, but Achievements are just a way to artificially increase gameplay.

Don’t really understand the whole cross-game chat thing either. I like talking to my friends while we play together, but I certainly do not need them yapping in my ear while I’m trying to play something else.

          • NintendoNoob

Honestly I would like achievements so it could prolong the life of my game by finding new stuff and getting new rewards

          • routerbad

Right, there is no universal achievement system, it is a per game decision by the developers to include achievements if they want to. If they did implement achievements, I’d rather see fewer of them, and for things that are actual achievements in game rather than every time you make it to the next story element

    • Chiwawa

    • I’m pretty sure that’s planned already.

    • Nathaniel Lopez

I think we can all agree on this. They could also add gameplay recording as well to be saved on someone’s profile page or even upload to other accounts such as youtube. It’s not entirely impossible since they are adding recording to TVii, well I mean the recording feature, not sure about the video being saved to a person’s Miiverse profile.

    • I was just telling my borther the other night that Nintendo needs to implement that feature

  • Calvin Bowens

  • Edward Dudley

The option to Edit your message.

  • Nintendo_Rules

Giving us the power to color our drawings.

    • ICHI

Yes! This and larger messages are big assets. I would love party chats too ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Edward Dudley

    More than 100 characters.

    • Edward Dudley

….. or being able to make longer text posts.

      • bizzy gie

That’s what he meant by more than 100 characters.

        • Guest

          lol, witty!

      • Sdudyoy

Why did you reply to yourself?

        • Nathaniel Lopez

He probably doesn’t know about the edit feature.

          • Sdudyoy

            That makes since.

          • bizzy gie

            Grammar Nazi? Nobody cares…

          • Linskarmo

            I do, being one. ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • greengecko007

If you feel the need to correct people on the internet because of minor typing mistakes, I would suggest finding a more productive hobby.

          • Michael Ngo

            that’s not a grammer nazi idiot… -.-

          • greengecko007

If I were a grammar nazi I’d tell you that you spelled grammar wrong, and then called me an idiot.

Instead, I’ll just suggest that you look up what a grammar nazi is, then maybe edit your post.

          • Linskarmo

I’m more of a Grammar Nazi towards myself. I do not exactly feel the need to correct every mistake of others (I mean c’mon, this IS the internet), but I try to use correct grammar at all times. I don’t mind people that like to correct others if they’re civil, that’s all.

          • Sdudyoy

Yeah, I like it when people correct my Grammar because I like to have correct Grammar, And when people correct you, You always remember that mistake and it helps you with Grammar.

  • Fuzunga

Threaded comments! I just want to reply to people. Maybe yeah their comments.

  • Chompy

System Wide Achievement would be a great addition to the Miiverse, for your friends and non friends to see.

  • disqus_zgn9fkUqpb

    • Lusunup

Agreed. my beautiful crappy drawing need some light!

  • D.M.T

All I want is a new Nintendo Direct. Nintendo promised a Nintendo Direct focused on 3rd party games and another one for other Nintendo announcements. I’m dying for a new Direct, give it to us Nintendo!

    • The Clockwork Being

IF they made one, I would like to see the following on the Nintendo announcement one: Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei clarifications, Wind Waker news, Saying they see potential in another Kid Icarus game, Next Level Games surprise(Nintendo exclusive or multiplat.), new 3rd party exclusives, Kid Icarus: Uprising HD for Wii U and more. And that E3 will be a action packed Nintendo blockbuster one and that more surprises await at E3.

      • Zombie_Andrew

I think Nintendo Direct will come in April. There are too many first and third party games coming this year, and a lot of them need to be taken out the way and thrown on the playable demo pile at E3 so more important megaton announcements such as Retro’s IP can be given the right breathing space.

Games that need an April Nintendo Direct

        Wario Game and Watch
        Pikmin 3
        Mario 3D
        Mario kart U
        Super Smash Bros U
        Zelda Wind Waker HD
        Yoshi’s Yarn
        Wonderful 101
        Bayonetta 2
        Other 3rd party exclusives

        • The Clockwork Being

Rest assured that Retro is working on a fantastic project.” -Reggie Fils-Aime about the new Retro IP. I can only believe his word about. Even seeing the trailer of it makes me impatient to know more. But you are 100% right

          • Zombie_Andrew

It’d be perfect timing to get a Wii U Nintendo Direct at the same time the speed update comes this April

          • The Clockwork Being

Im mostly thinking that SSBU, Mario Kart U, Bayonetta 2, Yoshi’s Yarn and Mario 3D are gonna be kept for E3 but they could reveal awesome DLC for game we already have and the other games you mentioned.

          • Zombie_Andrew

For me Mario Kart U, SSMB at least are not that exciting, we know they’re coming, they always were coming, and they’ve technically been announced, it’d just be nice to just play them and get game footage at E3 it’d just be nice to have Retro’s IP and some other fresher exciting IPs to show off at E3 instead.

          • Trailer? There was a trailer?

          • The Clockwork Being

Dude so sorry I confused Retro Studios with Monolith Soft. But X from Monolith’s trailer was awesome. But the Retro game doesn’t have a trailer. I’m thinking another Metroid from Retro Studios or a completely new and different IP

        • Zuxs13

I agree with the April Direct. I think they will have a bi thing for Pikmin 3 since it SHOULD be out before E3.

        • I agree with that list with the exception of Super Smash Brothers U. I think that at the E3 war, Super Smash Brothers will be as effective as a nuclear bomb. I want them to hold all Super Smash Brothers info off and have a massive reveal at E3.

        • NkoSekirei

u forgot monoliths new game could be xenoblade 2

    • Zuxs13

Should be one coming this month some time. Most likely a Wii U and separate 3DS one. My guess, one this month and the other in early May. but they wont reveal a huge amount because E3 is two months away.

  • David Rampa

i want more characters in a message. 100 is used way too fast. sometimes have to post 3 times to write something. even the people from nintendo who announce stuff have that problem.

  • paulthevgking

    colors for drawing

  • Nintedward

Genre’s for games so it’s not a big list . I said this the other day. like Virtual console , indie , shooter , RPG , Sports etc etc

  • Jizz Beard thePirate

Maybe add some color pallets to those drawing so they don’t look all black and white

    • dylanbob121

wierd nintendo didnt make that in the first play

      • ExtremeAzure

Especially considering how they showed off someone drawing Link in full color in the Wii U 2011 Reveal trailer

        • I feel like we havent seen a lot of that reveal trailer…

  • Michael

Not really a Miiverse thing, but what about being able to video chat from the Wii U to a 3DS? That’d be cool!

    • Nathaniel Lopez

That actually could very well be a miiverse thing since the 3ds is supposedly getting miiverse as well.

  • nickjspink@gmail.com

I think that is what Nintendo are doing

  • nickjspink@gmail.com

There are YouTube videos on miiverse already

  • billy webb

A community where we can have our voice heard by nintendo. Like games we wanna see. And like where we can post our opinions about dlc we dont know if we will get for bo 2. Activision blocks any threads on there site.

  • JuleyJules

I would like to see longer posts and editing capabilities plus a general area that we can talk about things like games or features we want to see that aren’t specific to games out now. This will be good too once it’s on phones and pc. More updates from Nintendo would be good too though they are starting to do that now. On a separate note I hope they announce this week that a Nintendo Direct is happening very soon. They need to keep up the momentum.

  • LopsidedPasta

Ways to filter through comments. Why bother commenting when your comment is just swept away in the ocean of other comments? Being able to search comments based on key words, yeahs, or something else would help TREMENDOUSLY.

    • Lord Carlisle

You can search for posts with the most “yeahs”. It’s under the “popular posts” caption.

  • Wayne Beck

Miiverse sure could use a search feature…

  • kevin nun—-

gamepad full-screen drawing capability with color pens and larger messages.

  • TheBoldman67

    Cross-game voice chat please!

  • Am I the only one who wants a full colour wheel to choose from when writing notes? I think everyone with a Wii U can agree that there are some seriously talented artists out there in the Miiverse. Imagine how colourful and how lovely it’d be to scroll down a Miiverse community with full coloured drawings!

  • Slim Jim

Even though this is off subject, i hate critic articles (this is a good one though) but some articles say that the wii u is done, it’s over for them, they are all wrong…Why? Because if monster hunter 3 boosted up the wii u, think how much the sale will be boosted when super smash bros. brawl u comes out with the new Zelda game… The wii u is doing great, they just need more uplifting games ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Johny

yeah i wanna store or share in some way my screenshots ! … it would be a great feature

  • Johny

LONGER posts… 100 characters is just ridiculous :/
atleast around 200 would be fine

    • dylanbob121

      • Nathaniel Lopez

        600 just to be safe.

        • Johny

i feel you guys… i LOVE to write alot and overexpress myself.. on youtube i ALWAYS fill up the limit and then have to cut on those dots and shit… BUT i think miiverse should be only around 250-350..idk..
i think theres a reason nintendo put such a small limit… well i guess thats just how miiverse is supposed to be.. interesting short posts… but 100 characters is REALLY PUSHING IT… its… its nothing…definately have to extend it so some extent

          • gimpcell

I copy/pasted your message using my gamepad and I noticed 460 characters were used in your post. Nintendo has it right.

          • Johny

wait what ? what are you trying to say ?….
we’re talking about the character limit for posts on MIIVERSE

          • gimpcell

used too many characters to say you want more characters. It is easy to say a lot with very little.

          • Johny

again… this is not miiverse -.- i can write as long replyes as i want…

    • ExtremeAzure

I guess the reason why they have such a tight limit is to reduce the amount of spam. But a 200 cap would be better.

      • Johny

    • Linskarmo

I do find that a bit annoying, as I can get pretty long-winded on Miiverse posts. I end up deleting a chunk of most of my posts.

  • Nostalgia=Nintendo

i wish that miiverse will get like on the 1st screen…..

  • Chiwawa

so that first pic shown is the one nintendo is working on? its like a game forum, where you ask questions if you get stuck.

  • dylanbob121

    chat rooms!

  • Squid

    A pixel drawing tool.

  • Zombie_Andrew
    • Nathaniel Lopez

“We are aware…please come down and take a seat” clearly not an April Fool’s shinanigan. You would think they would proof read the translated text.

  • Kyle Berger

  • Tom Hoskins

I would like to post on the youtube page a video worth watching… after watchdogs was announced for wii u I posted a comment on the youtube thread with a url for the youtube video of the latest gameplay and a comment letting people know it had been confirmed for wii u. It was deleted 5 minutes later…

Seriously, why is it not aloud to point people to videos, okay lots of people would spam it but if you follow the link then you have to expect that you might be opening a video to Rick Astely right?

  • Adrian

I would like it if Miiverse had polls with important questions from Nintendo. Like which games you are looking forward to, which games you want to see come out, what new feature in nintendo do you want to see most.
Also, I think adding non-Miiverse chat would be cool. Text+(optional)voice chat while on netflix, or in a game. I would probably never use it, but it is a cool concept.

  • babulibaba

    um . . . drawing in COLOR?!?!? any1 else?

  • jjmesa14

They should start adding 3DS communities.

  • Sorry if this has been said before but since drawing is so popular how about some better drawing features like colors to start.

I think Miiverse will play a big part in Nintendo updates.

Who better to figure out how to makes a decent OS than it’s owners?

  • Genesect4ssb4

Full color whee, double tap the wheel for skin colors.

Minimum 200 character limit for posts and comments

    Friend list minimum of 150.

Larger area to draw, imean cmon, the screen is. 6.2 inches by 5 so gimme space! Cramped hands are unhappy hands.

    • Ravyu

      No signatures pls

      • Genesect4ssb4

yeah why did i say sigs? I have no idea.

  • Party Chat cross games

  • Color pallete, would be awesome. The artist would like it and many more players.

  • Playan

    Achievements and party chat.

  • I really want the ability to tag friends. Like, if me and a buddy just get done playing Monster hunter I can be like: “So and so and I really kicked some monster butt today!” then tag him so he can see it too!

  • Andrew Comer

Zoom in feature when drawing notes.

  • qwerty

Updated miis and a mii world like playstation home.

    • X3Charlie

I would like this as well. The Mii plaza could be so much funner if it was like a mini city. Also some little gimmicks like shaking the game pad to make Earthquakes and other quirks. What the Wii U needs is fun little sandbox app that is just fun to come and mess around with.

      • I like your words. I like them lots

  • David Tims

I don’t want to press the home button and have the menu come up which stops the game. You know on xbox when you press the middle “X” you get options on the screen while the game is alive in the background? And you can mail your friends while online not a problem?I want to tap the home button and to the right side of the game pad screen come some options to choose like “messages” where you can scroll through messages and reply all while the game is still running. It would look something like this:

  • David Tims

This is basically what I want the gamepad today when using wii U online

  • Ugslick

I havent personally gotten a Wii U yet (hopefully by the end of April I will have my hands on one!).. I would really like to see the ability to ‘host’ live tournaments with different options for allowing people to join, it could be an invite only set up, an open tournament, or a request based system… Then the ability to spectate others games (specifically for Smash Bros) while they are going on, or practising with a teammate while waiting for a specific match to start.. ahh there are literally infinite possibilities. Miiverse needs to be the base of every online interaction on the Wii U. Matchmaking via Miiverse eventually in games (like Smash Bros or Mario Kart or Monoliths game).. they just need to keep expanding it and making it more robust, as time goes on itll continue to get better but I hope they dont stop growing it!

And specifically pictures would be nice to be able to post to facebook or twitter as well ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Together_We_Cry@ymail.com

More developers on miiverse or a development corner, can keep upto date on titles in progress with screen shots and comments, maybe a feedback section for developers to,
