Conker’s Bad Fur Day creator Chris Seavor has a new title in the works that’s coming to both the Wii U and the 3DS eShop. The game is a 2D platformer with some dark elements, leading to a mature and serious story as the game progressed. Called The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup, the game will be released some time in 2014.

In a recent interview, Chris Seavor and partner and former ex-Rare developer Shawn Pile discuss the game and its darker side.

“It’s all very much about the story, it’s a very sad tale. It’s not dark as in ‘mature’ — it’s not got swearing in it, or anything like that. It’s quite a serious and adult story, but still a fun and hopefully playable game with lots going on. There will be moments of dark humour, but nothing gory.”

Fans of Seavor’s work with Conker’s Bad Fur Day will want to keep their eye on this one, as Seavor has proven to be a competent developer that can deliver mature titles with a crack of humor to their intended audiences. What do you think of this development? Are you excited for the new title? Let us know in the comments below.

    • TaintedXGamer

RIP Great Mighty Poo πŸ˜› the most iconic boss battle ever! XD

  • iceazeama

its such a shame that microshit had to ruin them…….. rareware one of the best developers of all time. FUCK YOU MICROSHIT!!!!!!

    • Nintedward

This^ . It’s so sad πŸ™ RARE at the time was as good as Nintendo :O !!!!! right on the same level of perfection. It’s fuking outrageous that they were just raped and dismantled by Microsoft. What did Microsoft get out of it ? a load of shit games?

Worst thing ever in Gaming along with Sega going bust.

      • Magnus Eriksson

I think Microsoft destroyed the whole market. Sony and SEGA was/is good competitors that helps/helped driving progress forward. Microsoft was never interested in games, they are only into it for the money. I think they are destructive to the branch.

        • Nintedward

Definitely Microsoft is just an ugly cancer on the face of gaming. I used to see Sony that way (early on) but they have matured into a real , passionate gaming company.

I like some of the games that have been on MS consoles , but almost all of them are third party lol.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Its always good with one competitor. That forces the market to renew itself. If it wasnt for Genesis we would maybe never see a Super Nintendo. And I think PS1 moved Nintendo in a new direction towards GCN, where Nintendo saw with PS2 that they too was in need to think outside the schemes of raw power. So we got Wii U. But I dont see that MS brought something similar to the field. Sure, they made a twist to motion gaming but… eyetoy… so no, they didnt do that either.

Yeah, but to buy companies, not to produce their games or not republish old material, but only to deny others from doing so destroys the industry. This is what I think they did with RARE. Im also quite suspicious they also are one reason that many VC games never was launched. They blocked it one or another way. They are raw capitalism at its worst.

      • Jack5221

I never liked Microsoft. I’ve boycotted everything they make. Heck I dont even use PCs anymore, I use a Mac. lol. I hate windows, and I hate Xbox even more. Its such a rip off, and it sickens me how Xbox One HAS to have a Kinect for it to work. Microsofts spying fetish is seriously creepy. And Xbox Live? What the hell is this 6$ per month just to play online? I can do that for free on my Wii U / PS3. And true, multiplayer wont be free anymore come PS4 BUT at least PS+ is a MUCH better deal than Xbone Live. Plus its cheaper πŸ™‚

      • aldo2410

Fuck microsoft, they fucked banjo kazooie saga, RARE was awesome in old days now you doesn’t care about it.

      • lonewolf88

no the sony and crash bandicoot / spyro was also 2 of the worst things in gaming. sony completely killed those two games.

    • Arthur Jarret

Microsoft only didn’t ruin rare, nintendo did – in a way. So did activision.

Nintendo had the option to buy rare cheaply but declined by low-balling their offer.
Rare almost got bought by Activision, but that deal fell through.
Then microsoft – desperately seeking devs to help their struggling new console – bought them.

What killed rare wasn’t just microsoft – but the lack of investment on nintendo’s and later activisions side.

The thing that truly killed the spirit they had, though – was the departure of the two founders of the company.

    “Unlikely Legend of Bob Charlie?”
*Puts on reading glasses* (because of the glaucoma, ‘mon) πŸ˜‰
    “Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup!”
    Yay!..but awww, but Yay!

    • dike

      fuck you. thats racist.

      • Bob Charlie

Nope, because I’m really a black Jamaican pot head with glaucoma.
I believe my statement could actually be considered a stereotype, not racism.
        Good try though! ;D

        • Nintedward

I think you’re awesome Mr Charlie! keep up those comments bro! Jamaica ftw!

          • Bob Charlie

            Feel tha’ rhythm!
            Feel tha’ rhyme!
Get on up, it’s Wii U time!

          • Nintedward

Haha. I have a huge fascination with Jamaica. In Manchester/England where I live there is HUGE Jamaican communities (the biggest being Moss side) and I went to High school in Moss side so a lot of my best friends were Jamaican.

We would toke reefa eat Jamaican take away food and listen to Dub,Reggae, Dubstep all the time!

Kinda ranting on there , but just lettin you know , where I come from Jamaica and the Jamaican culture is extremely important.

          • Bob Charlie

It IS such a small culture that has a big cultural impact, thanks for pointing that out!
So powerful it even turned a Snoop Dogg into a Snoop Lion!

          • Nintedward

Exactly. It’s perhaps a contender for the most stand out culture on earth. A tiny island with like you say a MASSIVE culture.

I recon Manchester would be a contender for having the biggest Jamaican community in the world outside of Jamaica!

You can get Yardy weed by clicking your fingers in Moss lol!

          • Bob Charlie

Lol!!!! Love it! My family should have moved us there, instead. I’m the only black person in a 20 mile radius here in Colorado. People here tend to be a little racist towards blacks, but for some reason they love Jamaicans! It’s like I’m no longer just “a black,” I’m “a Jamaican.”
I totally give off that nerdy white guy vibe, though!

  • Greatest news all week!

  • mojack411

  • Brandon Gardner

I am excited about this game but also tired of the 2-d side scrolling games for the wii u

  • Jon

Conker’s Bad Fur Day dev bringing new title to Wii U…… well, i see “Conker’s Dev, Game to Wii U” and I think, that’s a title I’ll buy, no need for screenshots or game title. πŸ˜€

  • Joyous Killer

Bad Fur-day really left a huge scar to me as a child. My dad had no idea about the ESRB. He didn’t realize he had just bought one of the most, violent, profanic, sexual, and goriest game at it’s time, maybe it still is to this date. I realize it’s one of the most ridiculously weird type of experience I ever had in a game, and it is easily one of my favorite games of all time. I am pretty sure i’m going to pick up this game. I trust this man.

  • Nintyfan

Shut up and take my money!

  • Ismael Ototo

Well, finally a good qualitiy game that is actually coming to Wii U ¬¬ I’m really sad Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 aren’t headed to Wii U ): We deserve it u_u Well, if anyone’s interested in helping, there are two petitions to bring those games to Nintendo’s console. There are plenty of people signing it right now; who knows, maybe we have a chance: http://www.change.org/petitions/square-enix-put-kingdom-hearts-3-and-kingdom-hearts-hd-collection-for-wii-u-and-ps3

    • giggi

Isn’t 2000 people a bit too small of a number?

I don’t know if it’s possible to raise the goal afterwards though, so maybe more people than that will sign the petition.

      • Ismael Ototo

Well, it’s not been out for that long, but yeah, it is not too many people. But well, signing it won’t hurt anybody; let’s just be optimistic D: Also, the number of signatures required increases every time it reaches a new record.

  • A_7

OMG!!! Conkers bad fur day was my all time favorite.
i was kinda hoping it would be an actual game not an eShop title, Oh well i’m still soo excited πŸ˜€

  • John Andalora

This sounds interesting, but i’ll have to learn more before buying.
Conker’s Bad Fur Day was good, but considering that that was the only game he’s ever directed or written, misc crew and art on were Donkey Kong 64 and Kinect Sports, and more acting credits than game development credits, I’m a little wary that his name is being thrown around more than it should be.
Not saying this’ll be bad. Just want to look more into it before getting it.

  • Luna Moonfang

It’s friday and this pops up…

  • Madmagican

Sounds interesting. I’ll be looking forward to it

  • Ducked

I thought we were getting a new Conkers at first, but this looks pretty interesting.

  • discuss

CBFD is one of the most epic games ever made … yeah I’ll probably buy it.

  • tomtank91

Sorry to say this but why did Nintendo sell there share of Rare, especially when Donkey Kong Racing was gonna be announced for the Gamecube.

    • Dakota John Litchfield

Rare’s haydays were in the SNES and N64 eras. Towards the GC era… they were alright, but that’s not Rare’s usual quality.

      • tomtank91

They only ever had one game out for the GameCube, Rare were as good as Nintendo with N64 games because they always produced the same quality of games

    • Luffy

nintendo own 49% of the shares and microsoft went and bought the 51% remaining from the stamper brother. nintendo had no choice but to sell the remaining 49% since they were now in the minority and could not make decision.

      • tomtank91

yeah but they could av still kept there percentage of Rare and still got some games released or VC games for the Wii/Wii U

        • Luffy

no because microsoft would not have permit it. And them owning 51% of the company, there is absolutely nothing nintendo can do, even with 49%. Basically, if nintendo would have kept there 49%, the only thing they could have done is make money of tthe game rare make in the futur on microsoft system. But that also means that if rare is loosing money, nintendo would be losing money as well. Nintendo had simply no choice.

    • DingoWalley

From my understand, the Stamper Brothers were demanding Nintendo buy all of Rare or they would take their business elsewhere. Nintendo declined, feeling they didn’t have to own all of Rare. So they eventually found a buyer in Microsoft. Nintendo had no choice but to sell their stocks to Microsoft once the Stampers gave their 51% to Microsoft. Nintendo really should’ve kept all of Rare’s former IP’s, though. They had the opportunity to do so, but they chose not to, allowing Rare to keep Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct and Conker, while Nintendo took back Donkey Kong and Star Fox.

  • DingoWalley

I’ll certainly buy, simply to support one of the fine creators from RareWare (I’ll also be buying that other game from former RareWare employees, the one with the multiple dogs in costumes).

  • Mr. J

I’m back after a week long camping trip in the mountains ooohhhh aahhh so much news!!!!

  • John Raybell

Strange, yesterday I was talking about Rare on here, in any case AWESOME news πŸ™‚

Nintendo Of America Expresses Interest In Armikrog another game for wiiu soon.

Definitely going to follow this. Really wish it was a sequel to cbfd tho

  • dgallo911

If itz 19.95 like toki tori was then I guess ill br skipping this game also….

  • TheRareWareGuy

FUCK YOU MICROSOFT! I just want a new Conker game!!!!!

  • Henry Hotspur

It actually sounds very interesting. And to have an adult story without swearing and violence? In a video game? Even more interesting.

  • Johny

    sweet. sounds neat.

  • Steve

Sounds cool but sheesh another 2d platformer…

  • david daniel wharton camacho

awesome, they do understand that the story is the best part of a game, also im hoping for unique soundtrack.

  • val berger

Maybe I’m the only one, but I really didn’t like Bad Fur Day at all in terms of gameplay. I really played through it a few times to watch all cutscenes again and again, as they were quite some fun, but when it came to gameplay and leveldesign, you just noticed that all used to be another game (Twelve Tales) before they created BFD out of it. The levels always seemed kinda strange cut together and apart, some thing like shooting enemies was just frustrating and awful and all mechanics, that were implemented after the move away from Twelve Tales were really bad. As I said, in terms of fun scenes, voice acting and creative madness, that game was quite nice, but it’s something you can enjoy by just watching a Let’s Play, as playing it wasn’t really such a joy.

  • 210stuna

    Needs more hype behind this.

In this day and age nothing Rare has really came out.

    R.I.P. Rareware

  • lonewolf88

nintendo can bring them back to glory!
