While PAX East wrapped up yesterday, we got a lot of great news from the convention, including two new Nintendo eShop games. This gameplay video is from DuckTales remastered, which was unveiled at PAX East and revealed for the Wii U eShop as well as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game offers the same classic platforming action that we saw in the original game on the NES.

Let us know if you’re excited for the Remastered version in the comments below.

This game looks interesting. I think I’ll give it a try.

  • Evan Laundrie

No question, this is a must have!

  • Ford Crews

Not sure where to grab the roms and graphics files, but this reminds me of mamedx/emudx that used the old roms, with improved graphics/music add-ons to improve old game’s look/sound.

    • dgallo911

Try mugen….best Street Fighters etc are created by modders

I may get it since I loved the old show.

  • Mickey Mouse

That’s a terrible Scottish accent for Scrooge, and I’m Scottish. Anyway, I’ll most likely get this on day 1. Hopefully Capcom wont mess it up and it’ll be as good as the NES version.

    • Nintedward

You can see from the gameplay that they haven’t messed it up. It looks like a classic reborn with faithfull gameplay and scalable difficulty. An essential purchase for shore 🙂

and? its the original one, im almost 30 years old and this is exactly as i remember, so many memory’s.

      • RyuNoHadouken

im 34…i recognized the area they were in…the voice acting kinda sucks tho…but ill get it anyway

        • Jon Turner

I disagree; the voice acting is already one of the top appealing things to me. I’ve always loved the voice work in DUCKTALES. I gotta say Young sounds a bit weary here as Scrooge, but I cut him slack because he’s gettin’ old.

    • Jon Turner

That actually IS the same guy who did Scrooge in the original cartoon, Alan Young. Still, cut the poor guy some slack, he is, after all, 90 years old.

    • Um… it’s the actual voice actor for Scrooge McDuck from the original TV series. For that matter, all of the original voice actors from the TV series were brought on for this. And you’re complaining?

  • Easter_egg27

    Damn it!
Why do I have to buy every game physically!

    • Fred

      • Easter_egg27

        What, What?

        • Fred

This article is about an eShop downloadable game and you ask why you have to buy a physical copy of every game. I figured I must have misunderstood.

    • WiiUltra

      • Easter_egg27

Well I don´t like to buy things with a credit card

        • Fred

So go to Best Buy and buy an eShop card with cash and use that to purchase games on the eShop

  • Petri

Somehow I feel like the voice actors arent really in to this game.

  • I played this as a kid and loved it. Will definitely pick this up.

  • brian murphy

hopefully this starts a trend for alot more classics to be remade like this

  • prettypinkpanacea

This game looks fantastic and is a fantastic step forward for the gaming industry. Rethinking and remastering unique, old school games like DuckTales is definitely one way to progress. I can think of many games I would re-buy if this were to happen, like Secret of Mana for the SNES. There are so many opportunities.

  • C.S. Bailey

This is already bought, i just haven’t paid for it yet!

  • Zelly Jeffers

Aaaww, memories! Every afternoon, after school, Duck Tales, Heathcliff, Chip ‘n Dale’s Rescue Rangers, COPS.

  • Bode

Perfect. Learn how to do it, SEGA. Sonic 1 and 2 would be perfect with a simple upgrade of the graphics … anything sonic werewolf…3d… none of this is necessary.

    • Matthewmc685

They did remake the first bunch of Sonics for the Wii shop (but it didn’t look as flat as this) but your point is still valid. I wish SEGA would get funded to a console platform (even if it wasn’t Nintendo) so they can focus on games and not cash, porting or the competition. Sonic adventure 2 battle was my childhood!

  • Ducktales on the NES is one of my favorite platformers ever. If you’ve never played it, I highly recommend you keep an eye out for this remaster.

  • Teem Four Tress Too

Man, Ducktales was my childhood. Seeing this makes me want to buy it

    • RonaldRayguns

What to do? Just grab onto some Ducktales, a Wo-Oo! Reminds me of my childhood too, Ducktales, Tailspin, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck. Those were the days.

  • NintendoYOU

Nice a remastered duck tales soundtrack!

  • Only a few are true gamers

Wow…Yep day one buy for me

  • Why is it called remastered? Its more like a sequel. Remastered makes it sound like an HD remake of the original game.

    • Perkoff

It is the original game with updated graphics.

  • RyuNoHadouken

they should put this on disc and have the original NES game as an unlockable bonus!!!!

  • I expected this kind of treatment for the Mario 25th anniversary edition. Nintendo really needs to be taking notes. This and the Earthworm Jim remake are the best remastering of platformers that I have seen.

  • Denvy

Pretty excited for this. Ducktales was among my top three favorite games growing up. Capcom already has my money for this.

  • Jon Turner

I have to give Alan Young kudos for reprising his role as Scrooge for this game. He’s always a delight to listen to. I gotta say that he sounds a bit weary, but I cut him slack because he is, after all, 90 years old.
