If you were a fan of the Captain Toad game mode in Super Mario 3D World, you could be seeing more of it according to co-director Koichi Hayashida. The puzzles received a great critical and consumer response so that the team is considering focusing on that mode in the future.

We thought they were a lot of fun, so we’re really glad everyone likes them too. If enough fans express such enthusiasm, we’d consider doing something with this feature in the future.

It’s nice to see developers responding well to new aspects of the game, so if you’re a fan of the Captain Toad levels, talk ’em up on Miiverse, remember Nintendo is definitely reading what you’re sharing and saying about any game released on the system.

  • I’d prefer them to focus on some huge DLC with more Levels for 3D World and along this they could bring some more Captain Toad Levels.

  • Ducked

I have no idea how it got a lot of positive reception from fans. I just saw it as a time killer they added in the game. They weren’t challenging nor exciting.

    • Miguel Angel Barrueta HernΓ‘nde

On miiverse they are popular and well received by fans

      • LukeMM95

Most of the people on miiverse like EVERYTHING though.

        • Nintendoom!

A place for whackos that’s for sure.

    • Kevin Sepulveda

They could make them more challenging if they were stand alone DLC for the game. And I thought they were fun, I could deff see it as a way for Nintendo to make some extra bucks

    • Arthur Jarret

The lack of challenge is exactly why most kids like them. It’s also why trophies and achievements are so popular: getting an arbitrary award for doing almost nothing is enticing to the current teen gen.

      • Ducked

You make a good point, I feel as if the younger audience doesn’t like challenges. Which is weird, because I always felt that a game without a challenge was a waste of money, unless its extremely fun.

    • palomino blue

I don’t think it was bad. It didn’t really fit with SM3DW. I like the concept for a separate game like Lolo. But they would have to make it much more challenging and developed (larger levels would help). With the right elements, this could be a pretty cool game on its own.

  • Kenshin0011

Why not just release a pack of Captain Toad mini games on the eShop?

    • Jon

if there was a decent number of them, I’d actually buy it. πŸ˜€

    • Robinpreet Sidhu

      Yeah like DLC!

      • Kenshin0011

Well why not just make it an independent set of mini games and let anybody buy it, regardless of owning 3D world

      • DrSaxMan86

NO NO NO NO NO! DLC is completely ruining the video game industry! It’s called unlockables/codes.

    • Hinaru

it nice to see that this game is getting some dlc that ppl wanted. I would to play a different character tho. Than I would say ”take my money Nintendo”

  • Ultrasyd

It’s the kind of minigames i would play on my phone or a DS, but not really on Wii U

  • Sdudyoy

I enjoyed them, just not enough to buy a game all about them.

  • Jack5221

Make it an eShop game with 30+ levels. Each one harder than the last! I really enjoy Captain Toad. Its a fun puzzler. Too bad there were so few levels of it in SM3DW. πŸ™

  • Mr Ninty

i enjoyed it very muchat. this could be a good game for mobile phones, but i small eshop game is also good

  • Magnus Eriksson

I actually loved those minigames. I would buy it if its long enough or cheap enough.

    • That guy who hates Spike

I thought they were too straightforward to be fun.
If they expanded it to be more puzzling, I would really like it. Toad really needs a game. If Luigi is hiding behind Mario’s shadow, then it is Toad that is hiding behind Luigi’s shadow. Poor Toad.

      • SmashFinale

        Wario’s Woods.
and i think another wario game that features bomberman although i might be wrong.

        • C4

          Wario Blast πŸ™‚

          A new Bomberman game wouldn’t hurt…

  • LukeMM95

It’s not my type of thing. I don’t mind playing the levels once or twice but I couldn’t play a whole game around it.

  • DragonSilths

Wait so that guy at Nintendo IS ACTUALLY LISTENING TO FANS? Make sure Iwata and Reggie don’t fine out they don’t like listening to fans. While I am sick of Mario games, a game that is completely a Toad Adventure game were its all those puzzles I would rather enjoy.

    • ActivesiN

Iwata is too busy playing with cats, and wearing dinosaur costumes to pay attention to fans

      • DragonSilths

    • Squid

Reggie is aware of what’s going on, he can’t do anything because Iwata doesn’t give much of a crap what we think.

      • DragonSilths

Although Iwata said he got the North American market wrong, which is what Reggie is supposed to tell him.

  • ActivesiN

this is the perfect example of a game that Nintendo should put on Android/Ios
a small game that can be a gateway into getting a Wii U with targeted marketing

  • Niknique

I actually really liked these levels, sometimes I go and replay them cus they’re just so fun πŸ˜€

  • Skelterz

If they bring out captain toad levels im gunna shit my britches

  • Mario

A game all about Captain toad? Nice.

  • Gustaf Molin

Great games, so fun and innovative!
    I would buy them. A great eShop-game.

  • Vriska Serket

I totally agree with the people who say to release a 8ig ol pack of these as a standalone title on the eshop.

  • Rinslowe

Captain Toad stand alone title would be awesome!

I’d like to see them expand the game space as well. Full spheres and more complex shapes/ worldlet’s to explore like in Galaxy, but harder…
Would make for some really tricky stuff.

  • wiimenonowiiu

    Captain toads challange

  • I enjoyed them but I wonder if I liked them because they were a short diversion. If scale into a stand alone eshop game I don’t know if it would be enough to maintain my interest. That said, as long as it’s inexpensive I’d probably get it.

  • TheGamenerd5

    cool these were good

  • Skelterz

They’ll probably release it for 3DS or something they have a habit of listening to fans while wearing ear muffs!

  • Squid

I’d buy it if they had puzzles that reference to older games like Galaxy, World and Sunshine.

  • CaptRodgers

I think it would be great. It used the gamepad in some decent ways and maybe they could release an eshop game that uses the gamepad even more. Heck if the game was hard and long enough and used the gamepad and plenty of ways I’d pay full-price for it. They could throw in the touch screen, motion controls, and microphone to solve puzzle

  • Adam Fox

They could release it kinda like they did with Super Luigi U….if you have the game, get a discount on the download but require Super Mario 3D World with it while also releasing a stand-alone version of the game that cost a little more….

  • DragonSilths

Breaking News: Famitsu has revealed a Wii U Fatal Frame game. And it is Wii U EXCLUSIVE. Don’t believe me? Look it up yourself. Or better yet here is a handy link.

    • Arthur Jarret

I’ll get excited once it’s confirmed to come to the west. I’m still waiting for FF4.

      • DragonSilths

        It’ll come.

  • Forgive me if these seems rude, but…

  • David Trail

Fatal Frame exclusive to Wii U biatches!

  • Matt

I really enjoyed the captain toad levels. I’ll be looking forward to seeing more of it in future.

  • Arthur Jarret

They should call it ‘Wario’s woods 2’

  • InterTreble

These were fantastic games inside a fantastic game like SM3DW. Definitely GOTY 2013. For people loving “GAMES”, not simply “games”…

  • Adecentboy777

    I loved them too πŸ™‚
