Until now we’ve known that the Wii U version of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist would have special GamePad features, but we haven’t known exactly what they were. Ubisoft has released the above 8 minute video that guides players through what to expect with the GamePad and how it’ll make playing Blacklist an entirely different experience on the Wii U. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be released on August 20th. Will you be picking it up? local_offer Nintendo splinter cell blacklist ubisoft wii u stars Further Reading Consumer council in Europe alleges Nintendo i Ubisoft has more plans for the Switch Zuxs13 This trailer was great, it really shows off how subtle the GamePad can enhance a game. It’s not a “game changer” but it sure will be a welcomed edition to any game especially with features like these, And yes ill be picking it up bizzy gie Pretty good. Glad Ubisoft isn’t just adding off T.V. play like these other lazy devs. Zuxs13 i think they are just building on the Ideas they put into Zombie U, but now it’s finally in a well established franchise. Deadpool U Off TV play isn’t lazy it’s very convenient though I will admit looking at a TV for gameplay is a little hard now. bizzy gie I like the feature myself as I don’t use a TV at all for my Wii U, but I’m glad to see them doing something different. Deadpool U I wish I could play my game using the off tv option but Activision said ‘No the games already in development for PS360 and it would push the project back.’ well too late now. Zombie Boy I have the same problem, I keep catching myself watching the game on my gamepad rather than on the television screen XD greengecko007 Maybe lazy isn’t the right word, but only adding off tv play for Wii U versions of games isn’t exactly creative. And for those of us who actually have our own tv, just having off tv play doesn’t enhance our experience at all. JB Actually I have my own TV and off TV play surely enhances my experience. There are times I may be watching something else on TV or just want it off. Or I’m laying in bed a particular way where it’s impractical to look at the TV. So off TV definitely has its advantages even if you don’t share a big screen. Though I do agree that developers that don’t add anything more than that is not exactly developing a game in the most creative way… Though you can almost expect as much if it’s a multi-plat game… I’m sure creating Gamepad specific functions takes extra time/resources Andreas Sunde Yeah, the gamepad features have been cited as the reason they couldn’t include local co-op. JB I’d imagine local co-op would only be a patch away if it sells well enough on the Wii U. I like the Gamepad features in this game, which is why it’s going to be my go to copy, but at the end of the day, I think I would’ve traded all that in for some asynchronous local co-op. greengecko007 It has it’s uses, I’m not denying that. But off tv play does nothing to enhance the gameplay or your experience while playing the game. If your tv is placed awkardly so that you can’t look at it comfortably while on your bed, then you might need to move your tv. Guest They Should also consider adding off-tv play. That’s a feaure, IMO, that would make the Wii U version the best Blacklist available. SonicLucario I cant wait for this, Anyone wanna play Spies VS Mercs with me? Zuxs13 look me up, im Zuxs13 SonicLucario Awesome Im SonicLucario Rombosjan F*ck yeah! RoyRelapse add me for mp, NNID: royrelapse SonicLucario Im SonicLucario William Short Put me down, NNID: Willtastic94 Mitchell NNID: betobanks JB Might as well throw my name into the hat π JQuest Nintendofreak add me: thenameless685 Squirrel09 find me. Squirrel09… I like squirrels YogiGRB see my name, than add NNid should be YogiGRB π or try Yogi-B Nintyfan I hope we get a trailer like this for Watch Dogs and AC4 that shows off the Gamepad’s unique features. TULFich the watch dogs Wii U version should be the best version regarding gameplay, hope Ubi does it right π Rugmouse So if I’m looking at this correctly, every time you want to switch gadgets, you can simply look down at the gamepad and select what you want? I don’t understand how people can call the Wii U’s controller a gimmick. To me, this looks like a subtle, yet effective feature that enhances the player’s immersion in the world. Pausing the game kind of kills the suspense, especially in this type of game. “Hold on guard, stop patrolling for a minute while I find my knockout grenade” Zombie Boy Agree completely. Could you imagine that on ZombiU? I think on Splinter Cell though, and other games like this, the weapons menu takes up sizeable chunks of the corners of the screen (rather than a pause menu) but I could be wrong. Still, having it removed from there and put out of the way onto a one-touch gamepad screen makes things so much better! Clel Isn’t that what spies and guards do in real life? My life is a lie. jay Gimmick: “to equip or embellish with unnecessary features, especially in order to increase salability, acceptance, etc. (often followed by up ): to gimmick up a sports car with chrome and racing stripes.” In other words adding features that do not add to performance or utilization. Wii Remote ADDS to game input, 3D in 3DS ADDS to gaming visuals, Wii U Gamepad ADDS flexibility to game input. Blu Ray player is a gimmick, it doesn’t add to gaming in any form. ESPN streaming/Price is Right streaming is a gimmick, it does not add utilization to gaming. People who call Nintendo GAMING features a gimmick do not know what a gimmick is. Andreas Sunde Bluray in PS3 adds to the possible size of the discs, meaning you won’t have to change disc mid-game. Having it also play Bluray movies adds to its value as an entertainment center. Having the only game console on the market (the Wii U) play Bluray movies would be a gimmick, as it does not add to its value as a gaming console. Zombie Boy I’m not sure I understand your statement. Are you saying that if the Wii U has a Bluray player then it would be a gimmick, but if the PS3 has it then it’s not? They are both predominantly games consoles, so how do you come to that conclusion? And saying that the PS3 is an entertainment centre is redundant, because if the Wii U had a Bluray player, wouldn’t that make it an ‘entertainment centre’ too? Given that the original Playstation did very well without, I would say that the addition of the DVD player on the PS2, as well as the Bluray player on the PS3, was a gimmick (as stated above), “to equip or embellish with unnecessary features, especially in order to increase salability, acceptance, etc.” Andreas Sunde The Playstation has always had other media features, from CD to DVD to Bluray. Therefore it is an essensial part of their system. Nintendo is the last company who makes pure gaming consoles, and adding that feature now would be a gimmick to sell more systems. … It makes sense in my head. LopsidedPasta ikr. How is saving time a gimmick? The Clockwork Being Agreed. I saw a guy call the Mario and Luigi series a gimmick series because of the awesome gameplay. People really need to learn what a gimmick really is. ICHI Like the New advert shows π http://youtu.be/_wNrmEyjUOM Baum γγγͺγΌγ We Need that guy for every Wii U ad π That was as much entertaining as Ironbeard ^^ Ducked Games are coming! Blacklist and Pikmin 3 all in one month! Petri 3 games in Europe, Blacklist, w101 and delayman legends. Currently going to pick all of them, if economy allows. Rayman is getting a steelbook, which doesnt look that bad: http://www.verkkokauppa.com/files/images/64/168131-300×242.jpeg Baum γγγͺγΌγ The Wii U Version also gets Rayman Origin for free ^^ Ubi fucked up, but at least the dev Team tries to do something for the fans π Zombie Boy Is it bad that I’m not too fussed about Rayman Legends, but will get the game just to play Origins again? Baum γγγͺγΌγ I guess not π The game isn’t bad after all and I really don’t want to let the dev-team’s work go to waste, just because Ubi delayed it ^.^ Petri I think it’s just levels from Origin, not the whole game. Baum γγγͺγΌγ argh really? Darn it :/ Ducked I’m still buying Rayman Legends, the only ubisoft game I’m not buying is AC4 YogiGRB Delayman legends LOL i’m rolling on the floor, thanks for the good laugh Petri Wynneman It’s nice to see that the visuals look on par with the other consoles if not better. Jake it isnt nice as they should be WAY better. Jake And ppl were mad at Ubisoft. I bet 90% of those people actually had no one to play with to begin with. jay People were mad because they delayed a finished game. Even the games creator was pissed off. Andreas Sunde I think he’s talking about no offline co-op in Blacklist. But I think local multiplayer in spies vs mercs is there, at least I hope it is. JB That’s pretty bad ass. I’m gonna have to pick the Wii U version up… JBeauregard Well, if that doesn’t arouse me, nothing will LOL Marcel Kleine i’ve already planned a live playthrough, so you tell me, will I get it? π Jack5221 This looks really cool, too many games coming out this year that I really want but cant afford all of them. π First party always comes first for me. I’ll have to pick up Blacklist and Watch Dogs later. Aleksander same here hehe. Zelda WW,splinter cell, call of duty, deux and maybe the new mario.so my wallet isnt going to be happy π NkoSekirei i can afford them all cause i work and get my paycheck every 2 weeks on a thursday so im fine on money department got 9 games preordered so far Jack5221 I have a job too! I work part time at a call center here in Costa Rica. Minimum wage here is 4$ per hour. Its a lot less compared to what I used to make living in California, made 10$ per hour at Macy’s. To make things worst for me, games in Costa Rica cost about 100$ compared to the 60$ price tag in the states. Waiting on my brother to visit me, he will be bringing me Pik 3, W101, and Luigi DLC (Physical Copy) Then when I go to visit in December, I will be picking up Mario 3D world, Sonic, DK Tropical Freeze, and WindWaker. 1st party / 2nd party / exclusive 3rd party games are why I always buy Nintendo consoles π The games are always amazing. fireheartis1 Dude if you do first party fist that just keeps the thought of many third party developers thinking we only buy first party games. That’s why this year I’m doing it way different. Except for Wind Waker HD I’m buying all first party games second and third party first. I wont be buying first party used either so Nintendo makes a profit, but I will be buying some third party stuff first. Mainly Ubisoft so they don’t stop supporting the Wii U in 2014 and beyond. The Clockwork Being Same. Im only getting 2 Nintendo games once I get my Wii U and 3DS. Wii U Mario 3D World and Zelda:WW and huge load of 3rd party like everything from Ubisoft coming to Wii U, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Sonic and some other 3rd party games For 3DS Kid Icarus and Zelda: A Link Between World The rest is Atlus RPG and some other 3rd paries Javy G Esta juego se parece muy impresionante! Ya, lo quiero jugar! (google translate) Sdudyoy Although this isn’t my type of game I’m glad Ubisoft is still supporting the Wii u. Aleksander GOD iam so happy that i got a wii u π this game looks so much fun! i like sneak em up so much that mainly the reason ill buy this game. π btw i have played all the other SC π Mitchell Day one purchase, still have to wait seven long days for it Moving Pixels Enthusiast These features look really great, but I’ll be picking this up for PS3 due to the offline coop. JB I’m getting the Wii U version for sure, but may consider picking up the PS3 version as well, for the local co-op Petri After playing local coop games with Wii U, I refuse to go back to one tv splitscreen (even though one has to take 7 inch screen). LG’s 3d dual play tv with both having full tv sounds kind of cool, but still would like to see it in action first though. Nintendofreak day one for me already got it reserved like a month ago just need to wait nameucanthate Dear Nintendo, I’m a high school student who doesn’t have to much time to play games. I only get 4 or 5 games a year! This november I want Assassins Creed 4, Watch Dogs, Batman Arkham Origins, Call of Duty: Ghost, and so many more! Then next year I’ll be wanting Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart! Nintendo, my allowance can’t afford all of this. Sincerely, A poor, overwhelmed Wii U owner Jon Student loans and then worry about paying it back later π oh wait, highschool… wait until university then π Luffy This game looks to make great use of the gamepad! I’m picking it up for sure! The gamepad is the greatest innovation in videogame since the analog sticks! BIG Franky this looks really awesome… if i didnt have little kids in the house i would totally pick this up. Clel Wait till they’re asleep… hehehehe Kevin Sepulveda Whoaaa! this is amazing use of the gamepad!!! Noteak Even if the lights are off, cant you still see his green lights all over his body? MujuraNoKamen I was literally just about to say the same thing. That’s something that’s always bugged me in SC games. It’s not like they’re just little LED’s that come on occasionally they’re constantly on and looks like the devs designed them to be a garish as possible. Clel I would love to pick this up on its release date, but stupid region lock won’t let me. Mark The offline co-op never really affected me because I literally have no one I can play with; my brother doesn’t like Splinter Cell and neither do my friends. So, I was gonna pick the game up anyway, but now looking at what Ubisoft’s done with GamePad integration, it’s pretty much an instant buy. blindtiger thats just awesome… now if only ubi would take it even further in ZombiU2 Mykdee i was already getting this, but now i can’t wait makkan i pre ordered this game a month ago π jay “Wii U is not next gen” “Too Weak” “We can’t think of any gamepad features” Yeah this game should shut some developers up. LopsidedPasta But unfortunately, it won’t. The only thing that will shut developers up is stronger wii u sales. EA says stuff like “We can’t bring this game to Wii U because it isn’t powerful enough”. But then they find a way to put it on 360 and PS3. Remember Valve doing that with the PS3 when it launched? Then the PS3 started selling and they shut up. Jon well… EA I don’t care about but I guess that also applies to other developers I care about π Smartass2 Those developers just want to pump out the same old FPS. Same game just change the background. They can stay on the other consoles. That’s what the hammerheads on those systems want. They’re “hardcore”. Shelim Uddin I know this totally unrelated but i love wiiudaily.com i think there should be a weekly vote poll on this site. It could start off with most antcipated Wii U game this year. Xavier Lopez Chabelo Hey, I know this is out of topic but we should make a petition for Nintendo asking for Project Phoenix on the Wii U or at least ask them to change their policies about japanese indie developers. Project Phoenix is made by some of the people that worked on: THE FINAL FANTASY SERIES, DIABLO III, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN, WORLD OF WARCRAFT SERIES, HALO 4, THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM, STARCRAFT II SERIES, ASSASSINS CREED II, VALKYRIA CHRONICLES, THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, THE WOLVERINE, and also with Nobuo Uematsu as the lead music composer http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1300298569/project-phoenix-japans-indie-rpg-feat-aaa-talent, Check it out. Sharingan Gamers ask for new gameplay innovation and when Nintendo came out with the Wii U gamepad they called it a “gimmick.” Like they say, humans can never be satisfied. sd A year of firsts in gaming for me. I never played Pikmin before Pikimn 3 and that was amazing. I have never played splinter cell before, but will get this once I have completed 101 ( maybe 2 weeks after its launch). This looks great so I cant wait. Smartass2 Great job making use of the gamepad Ubisoft. Finally we’re getting games. We went from famine to feast. fireheartis1 It sucks that an HD video doesn’t automatically load on YouTube anymore. Trying to watch this in 360p is not good lol. I’ve also decided to buy 3rd party games first since I already own the Wii U, and then buy Nintendo games later on, so yes I will be buying this game on day one for sure. The Clockwork Being Same once I get a Wii U im buying everything from Ubisoft and more 3rd party games+ Wind Waker and Mario 3D world. DK and the other Nintendo games can wait. It’s not like Nintendo will lose money if I buy the games later whereas Ubisoft and other companies wants to see a profit now in the holidays to see if the console will be profitable in the future. fireheartis1 Also this game is gorgeous it let’s people know that the Wii U is Next Gen console for sure. tyler I just pre-ordered this game.(i cant wait) gamestop is having a midnight release so i will be up till the crack of dawn. I also pre-ordered COD: ghosts π all wii u owners need to support 3rd party IP’s. Deadpool U I don’t think Sam and I would get along he’s using a lot of NON-lethal force. Petri Looking good. palomino blue This demo is somewhat ineffective only because you can’t understand the experience without holding the gamepad. All of these concepts will surely transfer well but a demo like this, showing the gamepad on screen, feels like you’re pulling up a menu. This is true for a lot of Wii U demos. Here’s hoping people can imagine what the experience is actually like. KoolAidMan I wish my gamepad screen wasn’t broken Now I probably can’t play this :'( Deadpool U That’s horrible I weep for you and this is coming from the guy who killed the entire Marvel universe. But you can probably get another on on ebay.
