Nintendo of Japan has confirmed that it is phasing out the original black Wii U console, as well as several bundles that include the black console. The current models available in Japan are the original 8GB model that was phased out in the rest of the world, and a 32GB white Wii Sports Club bundle. Bundles that are getting the axe in Japan include the Wii Party U bundle, New Super Mario Bros. U bundle, Dragon Quest X bundle, and the Monster Hunter 3G bundle. It interesting to see the color disparity between Japan and the rest of the world, as Nintendo has all but phased out the 8GB white console in North America and Europe. It’s not likely that the black console is disappearing entirely since it’s been included in the Mario Kart 8 bundle in the West, but perhaps Japanese gamers prefer the white color. local_offer black wii u Nintendo Nintendo Japan wii u stars Further Reading Legendary Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go The cost of Nintendo consoles in today's dollars Wii U gets firmware update Watch the Smash 4 EVO Finals on Disney XD Take a peek at this week’s Nintendo Dow 9 things you probably didn't know about Super Mario Bros. Decker Shado Well.. if I break down and buy a Japanese Wii U to play imports, at least I’ll be able to tell them apart easily. Petri I might do that, if Bayo 2 release to west is too far apart. companyoflosers or just wait for the wii u version of the homebrew channel. Petri Our local retailer phased out few bundles, for as low as 180€. Shane Michaels So, Japanese like white to black, huh? I see how it is. http://blog.chron.com/momhouston/files/legacy/mjacksonmash.jpg Mario He looked better when he was black. -_- SecretX i like both. Shane Michaels Black is how we will remember him. The lightskin was ok. Rinslowe Yeah I think he just looked better natural… Colour aside, it was the extensive surgery that made him look out of touch with reality. IMO. Maybe that’s what he was going for though… Shane Michaels I think it applies to his musical talent as well. Thriller was bright eyed optimism and the falsetto, Bad and beyond turned to more paranoid grit, with a lot more emphasis on spectacle and flare. mustdisqus his dad joe stated that he had vitiglo, a disease or condition that lightens the skin, although there are rumours he may have had bleaching over the years so that the entire body or face was one tone instead of blotchy, eg http://s29.postimg.org/rypw4cbuf/t800px_vitiligo1.jpg The main issue with the face over the years was definitely the nose, but even by attempting to correct that, he would always look feminine due to intense make up usage http://s2.postimg.org/9jeiz6yih/mjacksonmash.jpg Mario I know that. We talked about that in science class. darkcreap Excuse my ignorance, but “phase out” means “cut the price” or “supress”? dmalbini nope, it just means they’re going to stop supplying it. darkcreap So that means “supress”. darkcreap The bad thing is that there are two white models in Japan, which is bad if you ask me. At least in the West we have mostly black (the 32 GB one) and maybe there are some white left, but still you can distinguish the 8GB model from the 32 GB one. lonewolf Hmm it says on the box? darkcreap Agreed, but you risk someone confusing the boxes due to not looking properly at the number or the people not knowing the difference between 32 and 8 GB. I guess you can always change it at the shop, but, you know, more difficulties in enjoying the console. I think it would have been better if they the 8 and 32 GB consoles have boxes with very different colours to properly distinguish them despite both being white. I’m asuming that both boxes are nearly identical, which I haven’t contrasted, actually… lonewolf Well the only way you can mistake the boxes if you buy it second hand if you go in a store and you ask for a white wii u 32gb the sales man will give it to you. JBeauregard I prefer the white color, too. Black is good for hiding amongst my DirecTV box and my Xbox One, but boy does that shiny black like my finger prints haha Adrian Why would you ever touch your WiiU console? Just curious Decker Shado Why wouldn’t you? Oh, come here Wii U… let me caress you…. mmmm…. Shane Michaels You’re making this too easy. I’m not gonna say anything. JBeauregard Because it likes to be snuggled. skewie Well I for one transport my Wii U alot between my friends’ houses, work and home. 🙂 It’s cool with a gaming console that fits in a messenger bag! ^^ Rinslowe What? You don’t spend hours caressing your Wii U? Shame on you sir! “Cookies need love like everything does Neo…” uPadWatcher I have a feeling that Nintendo will be releasing new Wii U Deluxe bundles the next two seasons. Either Bayonetta 2 and/or Zelda Musou (Hyrule Warriors)… and hopefully an X bundle. Yuma Tsukumo Zelda/X bundle is more likely than a Bayonetta bundle, either way i hope they do it. We may see something about a new bundle this E3 😀 Sdudyoy I have a feeling there will be a Bayonetta bundle as that will attract fans of the original to buy a Wii U. Nostalgic_Chaos I think they’ll do an X bundle in Japan only (like they did with Monster Hunter), as the series isn’t hugely popular in Europe and some other parts of the world etc… A worldwide Zelda bundle sounds a lot more likely. I agree, they wont do a Beyonetta bundle. The series just isn’t as popular as people would like to think it is. Yuma Tsukumo I’m not sure if they had a Monster Hunter bundle in the whole of Europe but i know for a fact they had one in the UK. Agreed on the Zelda bundle, first party game bundles are always the most likely. Ducked The white Wii U just looks older, that’s why I prefer black. But you know what would be better? A red, or blue Wii U! Yousif Alromaithi Pokemon Red and Blue on Wii U. Damn full HD, awesome. Ducked That would sell so many Wii U’s! Yousif Alromaithi It sure would. But Nintendo is lazy to do that. Who know what pokemon we have in e3. I think Pokemon fighters from footage last year in Japan. Wraithlord_Koto I think it’s more that they would pay so much on upkeep and it would take a good amount of attention away from the main cash cow franchise, not to mention putting it all in HD, especially if you want (like most people) all the Regions, and then it’d probably be subscription based, all of these things are firmly outside of what Nintendo does (except phasing out a loved franchise, but Pokemon’s a cash cow, so it’s exempt) Mostly referring to the MMO part, doesn’t sound very Nintendo to me Yousif Alromaithi Yep I agree. It is Cash Cow. Maga Pokemon MMO in HD. Why not? WHY NOT?! Yousif Alromaithi Cost money. They could do it if their is appeal. We should ask Nintendo to do it so whose up for a petition. Aside from that we should contact them somehow if you have some sort of communications about doing stuff like that. Wii U fits perfect in MMO. Zakariyya Al-Quran SILVER OR GOLD WOULD BE THE HOLIEST THING IN THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM Ducked A golden Zelda Wii U! Zakariyya Al-Quran im crying from just the beauty of the idea Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3 RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rinslowe Yeah for me I have the opposite view. Well almost. Picked up a white version standard about 12 months after the premium black 32GB. So got a little used to it. Still, black definitely looks better with all the other black components sitting next to it. Have the white one in my office at work. Mostly loaded with indies. DoctorWily Wii U at work?? I want your job! Yousif Alromaithi I love black man it fits perfect. Sames like a cool color to me. anthony optimo Indigo Wii U or Mustard colored Wii U please. steveb944 They have a bunch of bundles over there, plus whatever else releases this year as well. I already bought a Zelda bundle just for a pad update, I can sadly see myself doing the same for an actual console skin change again. Patrick Skollerud White? Guys, I would much rather have the GameCube-purple. I’m still fine with my black one though! Paul T. Gaston As long as they still have the Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle I don’t care what they fase out. ray I would want a gold version with an awsome zelda collections bundle Prizm Well guess what, us aussies still have the 8gb version on our shelves. I think I prefer white though. To me, black is dated, like hardware that belongs in 2003 or something.
