According to a new report, the much anticipated BioShock Infinite will be coming to the Wii U after all. During publisher Take Two’s recent earnings call, the company confirmed a BioShock Infinite Wii U version, however, the game will begin development after the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions hit the stores. BioShock Infinite is scheduled for release in February 2013 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The game was first hinted for the Wii U when the console was officially unveiled at E3 2011, where BioShock creator Ken Levine spoke about the Wii U in a promotional video by Nintendo. BioShock Infinite is built using the Unreal Engine 3, which the Wii U fully supports. This will make the game relatively easy to port to Nintendo’s new console — there are already several UE3 games that have been ported to the Wii U, including Mass Effect 3 and Batman Arkham City. Hopefully this means we’ll see BioShock Infinite on the Wii U later in 2013, and hopefully with some extra goodies and decent GamePad controls. BioShock Infinite is a first person shooter following in the footsteps of the excellent BioShock. This time, the game is set in the skies in the floating city of Columbia. Players assume the role of Booker DeWitt, a man who is sent to Columbia to rescue a girl who has been held captive there for many years. The game is set for release on February 26, 2013. local_offer BioShock bioshock infinite Nintendo Take Two wii u stars Further Reading Consumer council in Europe alleges Nintendo i Switch has more games than Wii and Wii U comb Christopher Can’t wait to see how this game will turn out on the Wii U Alienfish pc ftw Andrew Well this is great news, but how long should it take after the PS/360 versions are released for the Wii U to get it? SehxualPanda around the time PS4 & Xbox 720 come out donicx “around the time PS4 & Xbox 720 come out” really what is wrong with you they are not coming out and you assume that they will at that point.:/ man stop dreaming. Alienfish You say that as if there will be a better version of Bioshock: Infinite on those new consoles. Even if they release around the same time the WiiU version comes out, they won’t be sporting anything more than being able to play the old version from the old hardware. Troll. Neonridr Ubisoft has gone on record to state that games ported to the Wii U cost less than 1 million dollars and are relatively easy to do. I believe this is due to the similarity in architecture from the 360 to the Wii U. Hopefully they can get the port done properly in less than 6 months. Great news to see that a major title like this is coming to the Wii U, even if it is a little late. Better late than never. Alienfish Ah! Good point! And if you do the math, that means that a team of 20 people making an average of $70,000 per year could port the game in about 9 months. I have no idea what size team it would take to do this and I only have a vague idea of what programmers and artists make, but I think it’s safe to say that this game will come out before next year is over. Shock Most likley 6 months less if we’re lucky. The upside is we’re likley to get a game of the year edition of something along the same line with new weapons and previosly released dlc Marcus Finally… a new master piece gPadWatcher Look forward to see Bioshock Infinite for the Wii U. mago I agree, great news. But why are we(Wii U owners) have to wait basically another whole yearif not even more to play the game. By that time the game will be old news. Alienfish Good things come to those that wait. Oii will most likely come out as a Game of The Year Edition. Raul Yes! Yes! Yes! gtmacc Good news :), never bought any bioshock game on release anyways so a delay wont bother me. Britton It feels like their first priority is Microsoft and Sony still. Although I liked Bioshock a lot and am excited for this game… why not release it at the same time for Nintendo? Neonridr Developers haven’t had the Wii U dev kits long enough to get comfortable with them. This game has been in development for quite a while now, so it’s hard to just pick up production on a new console when their dev teams are in the middle of making it for the 360 / PS3. This will be the trend for games in early 2013. Hopefully they cand do a polished port in less than 6 months and add some bonus features or DLC for the Wii U version. Fresnokila Hopefully this doesn’t become a trend…to be releasing all these new games on the Wii U months later than the PS3/360 versions… Purple3DSXL I was also beginning to worry about that. Seems to be a trend already though… deSSy2724 PC games are coming later….. but PC games (i mean multiplatform) have more feautures…. so, it all depends on sales. Slipsevenfold HELL YEAH!!!! Mid-core Gamer Now I’ll be getting this for the Wii U however I expect it to come out for the Wii U in Late 2013 or Early 2014. Robert This better be true!!! FennexFox Well this is definitely good news. Hope more of these games comes to Wii U as well. Maverick-Hunter Hahaha yes let Sony and microsoft be the test subject you know just incase the game doesn’t sell well lol mario The line up for wii u in 2012/2013 is already looking great Far better than wii, 3DS and Gamecube. I seriously cannot see this console failing. XDLugia I could care less about Bioshock, I mean I played the first, but it was a bit too much of a thriller for me 😛 Anyway, if there is one game that should come to Nintendo’s console, then it would be Grand Theft Auto V. Seriously guys, if you have not played those games… Allan P Sign me up! Would gladly wait for the version of this game with higher res textures! Also I believe that this game could end up a disaster, what with the delays, but add this to Alies:CM and AC3 and I am tempted to pick the WiiU at launch! Seth A Drekin My understanding is this game is Huge. I also know for a fact that Irrational is not. It’s completely understandable that they do not want to try and develop this on a new Console before they finish it when it’s taken 3+ years to make so far. Marmor Great news. Might end up with some free DLCs included like Mass Effect 3 or Batman Arkham City. More and more publisher will jump onboard due to the upcoming success of the Wii U. All new games (unlike BioShock and other games that are in development for more than a year or two) will surely get the same release date as on the other platforms. Albinopig Erg…now I don’t know what to do. Buy it at release or wait a terrible wait. Grr… Paul great news and better waiting a month or two after the ps3 and xbox 360 launch incase theres bugs and glitches that need sorting out Nintendo4Ever I say up the visuals and add game pad features won’t even take a year to do. i will get it. donicx well the more the better.even though were getting ports it’s still fine as long as they use the wii u game pad in a cool way i will be happy. Bravyoura WARNING! This could turn out awful I’ve owned a PS3 from day one they said it was powerful it’s games would out perform the 360 like wii u, then came the sham of a port that was the origonal Bioshock now history could repeat itself. The port of the PS3 version started after the release of the 360 version just like the wii u, it took around a year but at launch it was riddled with bugs it took a year of patches to just get it to look and run OK. MORE POWER = NOTHING LEAD FORMAT + POST LAUNCH SUPPORT = EVERYTHING Draco Breach While more power does not equate to better, it is nice to have the horsepower to push better gameplay. However, the PS3 has something working against it in video game development – Cell. The Cell processor is pretty universally hated, and I doubt Sony will make a console with such difficult architecture ever again. If they do… No comment. Developers are raving about just how easy it is to develop for the Wii U. I have no doubt early games will see some interesting bugs and glitches, but the architecture is easy to work with an similar – not the same – to the Wii. Considering the low cost to port a game, I doubt developers will have the same issues Cell has plagued the PS3 with. I’m not disagreeing with you 😉 I’m merely pointing out a counterargument. jesus noob shoes All i hope is that atlus bring persona to the wii Hangman This is awesome I love the Bioshock series, so glad to hear this and I think it’ll be worth the wait. And who doesn’t love a little self confermation I mentioned bioshock on the wii u just a few days ago!!!!! \,,/ Nintendo \,,/ I think tomorrow Grand Theft Auto V will be announced for the Wii U in 2013 or maybe as launch game, that would be epic. Aaron Kessler I don’t think it should be too long after the release for the wii u.. Considering it took a small group to port darksiders 2 for the wii u in 2 weeks..
