Sega’s popular Bayonetta franchise is being turned into an anime movie called Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. This announcement comes yesterday after Sega announced the official purchase of Index Corporation, bringing Atlus under the Sega umbrella. This has been rumored to be one of Sega’s projects for some time now, but it is now officially confirmed with the above trailer. The movie will be released on November 23rd.

There is no official release date for Bayonetta 2 yet, which is a Wii U exclusive. Platinum Games developer Hideki Kamiya has stated that he would like to see the original Bayonetta game released on Wii U as well, but for now we can expect Bayonetta 2 on Wii U some time in 2014.

I have a feeling that this could help sales for the game, there are so mane anime fans out there so this should attract them to this franchise

    • Levi Johansen

Would also make it easier to make a third game by testing out different twists and turns in the anime and checking the response of fans.

Worst thing about making a long game franchise is knowing what the fans want. Hopefully, Bayonetta can turn into a long running series exclusively to Nintendo.

    • Mario

Well, it worked with Pokemon. So it may work with her.

  • Jon

    lol, Wut?

    well, looks interesting.

  • CEObrainz

Anime? Sounds like I have something else now to look forward to!

  • Ony

I hope Bayonetta 2 will not be part of these “exclusive” games that are delayed at the last time just to be ported on PS360…

    • Baum 「ツリー」

This won’t happen, because it’s funded by Nintendo.

    • Christopher Acuna

Not going to lie though. I read only Bayonetta in the Headline and expected rest of it be “Bayonetta 2 delayed now releasing on Platforms”

      • uPadWatcher

IF Nintendo says so, Acuna. For now, not a chance in hell. Nintendo fully funded and published SEGA’s trademarked sequel.

  • BOOOO!

I only say boo because the folks at Studio Gonzo are behind the helm. Was hoping for Production IG…

    • Baum 「ツリー」

Feel the same…Gonzo’s style isn’t bad, but…it’s not everyone’s cup of tea either..

      • Shota

at least we get something to look forward too.

  • Christopher Acuna

If it shows up on Neon Alley I will watch it.

  • Daniel Gonzalez

While I’m not really a fan of Bayonetta, I’d be open to watching this.

  • Petri

I don’t know how to feel about this.
It seems Platinum games is not in any way involved in this.
I just hope Sega knows what its doing, and not effectively killing out the franchise.

    • Marcus Navarro

Why would a game developer be involved in animation film production? Besides being creative consultants(most likely the top brass and game directors of Platinum Games), I don’t know how they’d be involved.

      • Petri

        Just think about it.
Bayonetta was created by Hideki Kamiya and Platinum Games.
They created the story, lore and pretty much everything.
There’s a lot of missing pages full of lore within the game.
It’s not like anyone should just come and do as they please with their creation.

So I think they should be involved with this.

        • Marcus Navarro

Well, only as creative consultants. Gonzo will be in charge of production itself. That’s standard. I know where you’re coming from, but unless it’s Platinum Games’ movie, then they won’t be involved.

To be fair though, I would say that Kamiya should help write the script on top of being a creative consultant.

  • Petri

She stuck a lollipop she just sucked between her breasts?
Does she want to get ants? Because that how you get ants.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Perhaps an ant fetish.

    • Aleks

    • Gilbert Nicks

well what do you think she does with them in the game?

      • Petri

She risks her life for them.
        Addicted maybe?

        • Gilbert Nicks

they give you boosts in the game and i forget what else been a while. but im sure she keeps them on her even after use lol

    • DragonSilths

She would grab it and continue eating it after a few minutes after she kicks a guys ass. So there wouldn’t be enough time for ants.

  • Andrew Gonzalez

    Hideki Kamiya your too awesome.

    • Super Mario

      Thank you, you’re awesome too!

      • WHO_AM_I

NO!! You’re supposed to say F**ck you!!

  • TULFich

sounds like the same anime studio that worked with DMC anime is going behind this one 😀 pretty similar art style, can´t wait 😀

  • ThunderGod_Cid

Definitely gonna buy this on blu-ray as soon as it’s available.

Bayonetta needs as much exposure as possible(pun intended).

  • Lusunup

Seems to fall under Inyuasha/Soul Eater don’t you think?

  • Merrfn

I am not big on anime, but I shall watch this. Hopefully it will attract anime lovers to the game and franchise as a whole.

I actually got into Pokémon from watching the TV show, hopefully people can get into Bayonetta from this.

    • Marcus Navarro

You sleep on anime. You sleeping HARD.
Idk why, but I got into the Pokemon TV show from playing the game.

  • Ken Seymour

The art style makes me think of my Favorite Anime, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, definitely will look forward to it 🙂

    • Marcus Navarro

I’d be very interested to hear why that’s your favorite. I stopped watching it for the same reason I stopped watching Blood+. It’s just too boring for me. Too much time’s spent conveying the plot.

      • Gilbert Nicks

and yet the characters of blade 2 were mirrored from bloodlust. Vampire Hunter D is a great series of books and Loved both movies… but the thing is like different movies and books each for their own some people like it some people hate it.

        • Marcus Navarro

I guess I’ll have to find the books then! (^_^)

  • Clel

Lol when I first read the title, I thought it meant that the game was changing the graphics style into anime xD

    • Marcus Navarro

      O_O That would be amazing…

  • MujuraNoKamen

WOW! wasn’t expecting that. I haven’t played the original (yet) – but I’m keeping a close eye on it and B2 – this trailer seems to capture the essence from the game from what I’ve seen anyway, huge monsters, graphic violence and exposed buttocks. I don’t watch much Anime but this looks pretty good, not just because of the nudity 🙂 but if the fights are as spectacular as the game’s then this will be one hell of ride!
Also it could help publicise the franchise so YAY. Good luck with it guys, you have my attention.

  • Josiah Parsons

I really can’t see the draw in Bayonetta.

    • Marcus Navarro

Watch Black Lagoon. Then come back here.

      • Gilbert Nicks

Black lagoon is the SHIT… LOVE them and the english cast are awesome they stuck around and even got a pay cut to do season 2…. and i have the ova ordered…. bayonetta really reminds me of witchblade… watch that really good anime

        • Marcus Navarro

I’ve watched some of Witchblade. It was alright from the bit of what I saw. I will have to watch some more.

I actually loved the dub of Black Lagoon. It was excellent! Revy’s more energetic, more raspy voice matched her aggressive personality MUCH better than her deeper, darker voice in the Japanese voice. Awesome!

  • Bill Ginzburg Bronson

    Holly shit balls

  • danger

This is cool, but I think they should have made something like this years ago when the original game came out , better late than never I guess. I will totally pick this up when it comes out I’m a huge Bayonetta fan.

  • e_rocket

It would be a great moment to bring bayonetta 1 to the wii U!!! 🙂

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      It would make sense.

    • Petri

Doubt Nintendo would pay for it, and Sega is not interested.
Was it Sega’s customer support or some representative that said Bayonetta 1 and 2 are basically the same game.
Even though I would pay a full retail price again if I could get it for Wii U,
I don’t think Nintendo should pay for a port of multiplatform title.

I wonder if Platinum games could port it and self-publish it on eShop.
But maybe they wouldn’t want to take the risk.

  • howling_wolf1334:[

I want this game!!! Hahaha!!! I will preorder it at my local Gamestop…

  • MetroidZero

Totally irrelevant, but I am downloading WWHD, and to my complete surprise, it is only 1.7GB.

    • sd

It doesn’t seem to exist on the Australian eshop. Guess we got shafted again with no digital release.

      • Baum 「ツリー」

        That’s because it’s NTSC only -.-“

        • sd

          You are correct. 🙁

  • Adrian

Hmm interesting. I’ve never played these games. I’m a huge anime fan though, so this helps the chances.

  • Magnus Eriksson

Out of context abit here… But, everyone gave Zelda WW HD a 10/10 or an 9/9 but GameSpot who gave it an 8/10. The game is CLEARLY a 10 (ok that someone gives it a 9). Wasnt GameSpot the same mag who gave the Wii U version of Rayman a lower score than its ports on XBox and Playstation? Kind of pisses me off!

  • di g

    makes sense

  • Spike Ashford

I won’t get excited until I see more details. Mostly whether or not it will be an expanded universe kind of thing, or, an adaptation of the first game.

  • WheatleySonic101

Well… I know what i’m doing friday night. lol just joking. This actually looks really cool!
