Funimation will bring the Japanese anime feature film Bayonetta: Bloody Fate to North America, the company announced recently. It’s based on the popular Bayonetta franchise, which is now a Wii U exclusive, thanks to a deal between Nintendo and developer Platinum Games. The anime feature film features Bayonetta (of course), who is suffering from amnesia and who is on a quest to regain her memory. The movie is produced by Japanese animation house Gonzo, and was released in Japan last year. The voice actors in the movie will reprise their roles in the upcoming Bayonetta 2 Wii U game. There is no release date for the film, but it’ll probably take a while, as new voice actors will have to be cast and a proper marketing campaign developed — the usual movie stuff which can take a few months. Director Fuminori Kizaki will be at this year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles to showcase the movie. You can check out the Japanese trailer for Bayonetta: Bloody Fate above. Nintendo will launch the Wii U-exclusive Bayonetta 2 (which will include the original Bayonetta as well) this Summer in Japan, while Westerners will have to wait until this Fall. local_offer bayonetta 2 Nintendo wii u stars Further Reading Nintendo loses patent appeal, ordered to pay Nintendo was brainstorming about Switch when Justin Gray Should this be released in the theaters it would be better than whatever junk Hollywood will be churning out at the time. Capt. Smoker Your not wrong, once you experience an anime storyline, everything else is toilet, what’s that Will Smith?, you don’t even have a power level, get the fuck outta my face! <.< Little Seal HOLY SHIETH! She’s is beautiful than evah! Mario And deadly. Rinslowe Well if it’s going to help with exposure for Bayo 2 on Wii U. They’ll need to get on it ASAP… Carlos Webster I think this might be premiering on TV. Rich Garriques this movies old , and why dont they just bundle the movie with the game? Rinslowe Sold Petri the game is a lot better. jjbredesen Now that would be fantastic! Not sure if the anime is good, but it would still be great! FutureFox Three things: 1) Its right there in the article that it can take months to get voice actors for North American release. 2) C’mon…they already bundled the 1st Bayonetta game with the sequel. 3) So you want a free game AND a free movie along with a $60 game? LOL!!!! Getta here. Rinslowe To your three points… Um… maybe? FutureFox Nintendo would have to share a portion of the profits with Funimation to package their movie with Nintendo’s game bundle. That needlessly doesn’t help Nintendo at all. There are enough people who already plan on buying the game(s) without such a proposition. Rinslowe Yeah, I wasn’t arguing with your points actually. lol. You’re most likely right. I was just implying despite that. I would still probably like to have it bundled in. Regardless of how unlikely it would be… 🙂 FutureFox Oh, gotcha. Capt. Smoker No point packing the movie, just direct people to it here, http://kissanime.com/M/Anime/Bayonetta-Bloody-Fate lol, people just want, expect and demand too much free shit, and fuck knows why it’ll take so long to dub it, it’s only gonna sound terrible, I’d rather just read subtitles and not know any better FutureFox Depends on whether or not they would try to negotiate getting the original english voice-actors (which would be easier and faster). If they couldn’t procure the original talent then they’d have to try and find decent replacements; before succumbing to just hiring anyone off the street looking to make it “big.” Capt. Smoker I imagine it’s a different cast, usually the case with Anime, depending on which studio is working on it or associated with it, they won’t see it as a game, only as an anime, I’ve never heard the same voices on an anime based on a game when there dubbed English, original Japanese dubs usually have the same cast, it really is strange, I hope they get it right, I wouldn’t say it’s a memorable Anime, but it’s certainly a decent one that deserves to be enjoye by it’s fans. FutureFox You’re right on that. The only game/cartoon that consistently had the same VAs (at least in parts) as in the game that I can think of is Batman: AS and Batman:AC, in recent memory. Capt. Smoker It was always the worst when they had different voices for American Videogames and Cartoons/movies, I’ve always loved Spiderman, yet, I’ve never once got the same voices in the game like I did with the cartoons, only, maybe the odd side character, I wouldn’t say the voice work was bad, but it certainly didn’t feel as exciting as i would have with the same voices anthony optimo Some North Americans can’t read worth a can. Capt. Smoker Considering Nintendo games rarely have voice acting, I worry about these people owning a Wii U, nevermind Bayonetta 2 lol Yen I think the article contradicted itself a bit, it said that voice actors are reprising their roles in Bayo II, then said they’d need months to get voice actors. We know the game is near completion and they already have voice actors. Also anime dubs have been known to come out same day as the Japanese release. Capt. Smoker You’d think they’d have thought ahead, wish they’d release a Japanese dubbed only version first and charge less for not having the shitty English dubbed voices, Dubbed acting really seems to slow down the Japanese games crossing the seas by a good year or so, sometimes longer. Capt. Smoker Old?, hardly, it’s not even a year old yet, I remember watching it early on this year, nice little anime movie that’s probably gonna be ruined by sub par dub jjbredesen Dub ruins everything…. Capt. Smoker lol certainly ruins Japanese things, including many of Wii games I wanted to enjoy, thankfully Nintendo seem to be doing good when it comes to dual audio on their games these days, well… Platinum anyway. jjbredesen Yeah, its been ok, but if you look at Kid Icarus: Uprising… meh, this is the reason i don’t want voice acting in Zelda etc. In Norway they almost always play movies dubbed on TV and every time i can’t even watch it! Its horrible. Capt. Smoker Eughhh you just brought back a bad memory lol, the voice acting in that game was terrible, I’d take the odd bit of noise in Zelda, or even the Banjo Kazooie language over 99.9% of dubbed games and anime, even watching most American movies and tv shows kill it for me, the accent is just hella annoying. jjbredesen Yeah and lets not forget StarFox assault! Perhaps one of the worst dubs! I prefer to listen to stuff in its original form, but Nintendo’s stupid Region Locking i have got to play games in English etc. it is playable, but its not really that great… The pokemon anime was also ruined by English dub, the theme song is good, but dam the voice acting almost kills me! But more traditional anime i only watch in japanese, but i don’t really watch much. Capt. Smoker Starfox assault…. “oh gee golly bee wiz wot in the crackers is dat” *bangs head into a wall” it takes some doing to have worse voice acting than the Spyro games at the time, but they did it lol. Nintendo seem to be getting better now at including original dub, as are Sony, I hacked my Wii and PSP, just to get my hands on the moded versions fan had created, turned the likes of Pandoras Tower, Metroid other M and Arc Rise Fantasia, into enjoyable games, I still bought the games to collect them, but without original dub, I had to go outta my way like that. Pokemon was really good with it’s original voice acting, whoever played Ash and made him sound THAT annoying doesn’t deserve a job, only a flying fist of rage to the face, that or being suffocated by Snorlax. I never used to watch a lot of anime but this site makes it a cakewalk on the Wii U http://www.kissanime.com/m wouldn’t be without it, watch ALL my Pokemon and Dragonball Kai here jjbredesen Yup, and yeah the Spyro games where pretty horrible, still remember year of the dragon, think it was my first Spyro game on PS1 and the game was fantastic, but the voice acting was horrible. The worst though, must be Sonic Adventures DX (Directors Cut) on Gamecub, the lips are not even a bit in sync, just look it up, as a kid i even noticed how bad it was! All this talk of Anime maskes me want to watch some so i am of to watch the first anime movie i ever saw, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakush (not sure if spelled correct) have not seen it for years, and was to young to understand shit back when i watched it, so i have decided to dive back in to my childhood xD And thanks for the website 🙂 Capt. Smoker Haha Spyros always been bad, who on earth played these characters, even a tramp on the street could have done better for less lol, don’t get me started on Sonic, even when they died, it wasn’t convincing at all, just no emotion what so ever. I haven’t seen that in years, makes me wanna watch it now, think it’s called spirited away in English, I watched the wind rises by the same studio that did Spirited away, very good movie, I’m having a nostalgia fest at the moment too, just finished rewatching Great Teacher Onizuka, onto Slayers now, that website seems to have em all, 90% in HD, all mp4, all work on the Wii U, it’s a site designed by the gods 😀 jjbredesen Yup, ghibli make some fantastic movies, also would recommend Howels Moving castle, and the cat returns. The Cat returns actually has some decent dub in English. Will check out the wind rises after i am done 😀 And the fact that a streaming site works on Wii U means it must be designed by the gods xD Capt. Smoker Seen all the Ghibli movies, even rebought a ps3 just to play Ni No Kuni, I’ve never had a bad experience with them, that site is just amazing, I hate most anime sites cause their always full of ads and hard to navigate, makes it a breeze on Wii U, really owe it big for all anime I’ve happily caught up on, even makes the Wii U worth it for that alone Mario Really? You found Kid Icarus Uprising’s english dub horrible? -_- Capt. Smoker I find most English dub horrible, I simply ask Japanese developers and publishers to provide dual audio tracks on their games, I get some people love English dub but for those that don’t, they deserve to enjoy it in it’s native language, games aren’t cheap after all, I take the stance now that if a Japanese game is only available with English audio, I won’t buy it, might sound petty to most people, but games are more and more like a long shonen anime these days, and if I can’t enjoy my anime in English, I won’t enjoy my game in English either. Mario Okay. I think I understand what you’re saying. MerryBlind . Depends. French is my native language, and I think the French language actually fits quite well with anime, while I find English dub horrendous. I don’t watch a lot of anime though. However, for example, I think the French dub for Princess Mononoke and Naruto are very good. The voice overs really fit most characters. jjbredesen Je parle un peu francais, but not enough to watch dubbed movies, soi i can’t really comment on how the french dub is, but i agree that dub can sometimes be ok. Capt. Smoker I think it’s mostly to do with the American accent to me, I’m happy to watch films with subs from other another country, I actually prefer them to the garbage seen in America these days, the UK were I’m from has the occasional good film but America…. as soon as I hear a bunch of teens open their mouth, I just wanna put my foot through the plasma screen, thankfully Bayonetta comes across more British… albeit a little plastic, but anythings better than listening to listening to a yankydoodle have a moan Mario Heh heh. Right. When it comes to accents, I agree that it tends to be too American. Capt. Smoker Wonder Blue being my prime example… MerryBlind . Yeah you must prefer Italian accents amirite? Mario Everything? -_- jjbredesen Yeah, most games and movies get ruined by bad dub. JoshuaMariguez197 I doubt we’ll get a “sub par dub” considering the game is voiced in English in Japan too and Gonzo does dubs that range from pretty decent to damn good Ducked Just going to say you couldn’t pay me to watch this Niknique Is it because you don’t like Bayonetta or you just don’t like anime in general? Just curious. Ducked I’m okay with Bayonetta, I’m just not a fan of anime. Petri Have to say, do not make your decision of buying the game based on this movie, the game is a lot better than this. Just play the original, 2 games for 1 is too good of a deal to ignore. Capt. Smoker Always the case, the Persona animes are pants compared to the games, and Devil May Cry, and Makai Senkai Disgaea, forget about it, didn’t follow the game at all, Bayonetta bloody fate did, but compared to the game, just wasn’t very exciting MerryBlind . Devil May Cry could have been so good though… but it just ended up being generic, a bit boring at times, and like you said didn’t follow the game at all. I’ve only watched the 4 or 5 episodes that came with DMC4 Collector’s Edition though, and I actually did enjoyed them a bit, but it could have been much better. Capt. Smoker I like the ending theme song :p that was about it, the Dante I know wouldn’t take shit of Patty, my main complaint was not enough action, nothing in the style of a DMC title anyway. MerryBlind . Totally agree. Patty is the little blonde girl right? What the hell was she doing in that show seriously…. Capt. Smoker Ha aye, she didn’t really seem to have anything to do with the series, it confused the crap outta me as to what time line in the series that it was supposed to be set, I really didn’t like Patty, she was especially annoying in the dubbed version lol CydeFxt PANTS!? LoL i like the way that was used. Capt. Smoker Aha it’s a new one for me, I usually just say things are toilet ^^ Sylux Picking up the game for sure, already pre-ordered. If the anime hits the European shores as well I’ll probably pick up the anime too. Yousif Alromaithi Excellent. This will help the sales of the game. Sdudyoy I’m not interested in Beyonetta at all, this seems like somthing only fans of the game could enjoy to me, I guess it would help if I liked more Anime, but I’m more of a Manga person, although Studio Ghibli is amazing. JoshuaMariguez197 I wonder if it’ll be available on the eShop even if it’s not for download just to watch there it probably doesn’t stand a chance of happening but still.
