The new cover of Game Informer has released today, revealing Batman: Arkham Knight as the new title in the Arkham franchise. The game is being developed by the original Arkham series developer, Rocksteady and will feature the Batmobile as a prime mechanic for the game. The only problem is that it’s not coming to Wii U. It was announced a few weeks ago that more Batman: Arkham Origins DLC for Wii U is being cancelled and we’ve known for a while that sales of the Wii U version of the game were pretty poor compared to other consoles. According to release information provided by Game Informer, Warner Bros. Interactive is targeting PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with this game release. This is the second time Warner Bros. Interactive has snubbed the Wii U when it comes to new games coming to new-gen systems. The first was with Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Mordor, which appears to be an action adventure title that takes cues from the Assassin’s Creed series. With two new titles on the way that are not coming to the Wii U at all, it looks like Warner Bros. Interactive has completely dropped support for the console aside from the Scribblenauts and LEGO series games. local_offer batman: Arkham Knight Nintendo Rocksteady warner bros. interactive wii u stars Further Reading Switch vs Wii U game case size comparison Miyamoto dismisses the Wii U as a “nece 6 reasons to grab a Nintendo Switch before March 6 reasons to skip the Nintendo Switch for now Nintendo Switch Amazon Pre-Order Watch the Nintendo Switch reveal live! darkcreap Bad news indeed 🙁 Phillip Fauble Shocking. Good thing I don’t care about this game. DC777 Bored of them anyway. Sorry I even bought Origins. BIG Franky FWIW… AC3 isn’t worth $20….. AC4 is quite awesome though…. MerryBlind . Stop it already. AC3 is a great game with a great setting. I played on PC, so that changes something, but I have to say I would LOVE to take all that HUD crap on the screen and put it on the GamePad instead like on Wii U. I’ve always hated the amount of stuff on the screen in Assassin’s Creed games. BIG Franky well…. it isn’t just my opinion as most AC enthusiasts consider AC3 to be the defacto worst IN The series and AC4 has been universally LOVED. MerryBlind . I wouldn’t say ‘most fans’, I’d say ‘most people’, whether they actually played it or not, AC3 just got a lot of hate because it was a buggy mess on 360 and PS3 on launch. For me, and I believe for ‘most fans’, Revelations is the worst of the series. gamesplayswill Nooo!! D: John Stevens As a WiiU + PC owner… If I do buy this game I’ll probably get it on steam for $8 a year after it comes out. Still, more of the same bad trend for the WiiU. Sad. YayGs Same, then it’ll just be added to the my steam backlog which I have no idea if I’ll actually have time to play it. MerryBlind . Same… Although I’ve heard Arkham Origins wasn’t that good anyway, so I probably won’t get this one either even for 8$. Assassinated23 This one is back with Rocksteady though, whereas Origins was another developer. MerryBlind . Fair point! Stephen Macneil Origins was made by another studio while Rocksteady spent time creating this. Origins was actually really good, but not quite as polished or inventive. This is Rocksteady who made two masterpieces. MerryBlind . Fair point too! YayGs Well Origins wasn’t developed by Rocksteady. Either way you’ll have plenty of game ratings to gage from, and I don’t think this title will suffer from overenthusiastic reviewers like some other titles *coughGTAVcough* MerryBlind . Fair point! (I get it now lol) Petri Doing that as well. Though I might buy it after 3 months when its about 20€ Though if Bayonetta 2 is out by then, might not be even interested about this game. Doctors Tardis Did anyone really believe it was going to be on wii u? DasManiac Yes, it’s an Eighth Generation console and one would expect it to be released for it. BIG Franky well… c’mon now…. to be fair….generation has nothing to do with it…. SALES is what drives game title releases, nothing else…. and like it or not, that is how it should be…. make no mistake, if the Wii U had a bigger install base, this game would be finding its way onto the console. aside from that, no developer is obligated in any way to spend time, money, or resources on a platform if they will not see a return on that investment…. Santiago Wii U has the same install base as PS4 and XO, but people simply don’t buy that kind of games for the Wii U. Nintendo has tought us that in wii u you play more cartoony fantasy games because since the wii realistic looking games looked pretty bad, and Nintento has not put much effort in demonstrating otherwise for the wii u BIG Franky yes, while technically the install bases are the same RIGHT NOW… given the fact that the other consoles caught-up to what Wii U has sold in over a year in a matter of weeks demonstrates a trend that will see the PS4 and XB1 have an install base much larger than the Wii U by end of summer….THAT is what is dictating these decisions… not perceived audience…. it is numbers… ALWAYS numbers…. matthew garcia I agree Rinslowe There’s a few other factors involved in third parties decisions regarding Nintendo. But in a nutshell, you’re right. Gameonfool In a nutshell he is wrong, it’s numbers always numbers, he ain’t very clever. If it was always numbers then the wii which always had a much larger install base would have had more support so it is perceived audience and with kart and smash this summer the wii u will sell some with games like x etc to follow would have been a good time for 3rd party games to be in place. Ninja Pirate I agree and disagree I guess. Sales is definitely the driver, and I know the install base right now is the same (minus X1 being in a 2 million or so hole). By the time the game comes out Sony should be a fair leap ahead of the other two, but I’m pretty sure X1 and Wii U will be fairly similar the way that it’s going now. Origins and City both roughly sold 200K for Wii U which isn’t that great, but there will be more Wii U’s out when this comes out. With such a small install base for all 3 consoles, even with PC, it seems like it would be a good idea to bring it to Wii U as well. But hey, that’s just how I’m looking at it. Sadly I won’t be playing this unless I do get my PS4. Lil J Moore Sales are a big reason not to put games on a certain system. Yet Ubisoft stated that Rayman legends did poorly. So what they do? They put it on the ps4 and xbox1. How the sales for them anyway? Charlieblizz audience drives numbers, though. How many gens has Nintendo had now where owners show a trend of not supporting third party titles? Nintendo has to find a way to start pulling in more game support and of reversing that image. Maybe that means backing more games like Bayonetta 2 to pull in exclusives. Maybe it’s working harder to pull in smaller studios. Just something to change the perception of the machine and get people interested other than us die hards. Ace J yup as of March 1st the ps4 has hit 6 million. Rinslowe Nonsense. Bayonetta 2 and X look great with more realistic, mature visual styles/ themes etc.. They just need more of them. Snake Eater You have a point there the games I usually play on my WiiU are system exclusives or 1st party D.M.T What the hell are you talking about? These games DO sell on Wii U or else why does the Wii U have 3 Batman games? BIG Franky wait, what?!? omigosh…. please tell me you are lumping Lego Batman in with the Arkham series, LOL…. wow…. MichelChartrand The issue is not that Nintendo has taught us to play more cartoony games, or that the install base isn’t there, or that Nintendo fans simply don’t like 3rd party games. The main issue people seem to forget is that people don’t want to buy broken versions of things for the same price. Origins was $10 less, but that may not have been enough to sway people who own multiple consoles. Too often the devs release a broken or incomplete version for Wii U, then complain when the game doesn’t sell much on Wii U compared to other systems. Yet all I see everywhere is Wii U owners saying things like “Ugh, they didn’t include that feature? Looks like I’m buying it for my PS3 then.” How many copies of Origins for PS/Xbox were sold to Wii U owners who had multiple systems? They can’t play the numbers game and blame the users choices if they give them flawed options. Ace J exactly!! incomplete games or missing features is a no buy for me. and them seem to do it to nintendo consoles all the time. D.M.T It makes me sick to my stomach to see gamers defend 3rd party devs’ anti-Nintendo practices. You’re one of the reasons why the gaming industry completely sucks. Wii U’s install base is not the reason why this game is skipping Wii U. The real reason is because Wii U has a completely different architecture while Xbox One and PS4 are wannabe Gaming PCs. These lazy fucks don’t want to spend time developing for a different architecture. BIG Franky okay fanboy…. its people like you that make it incredibly difficult to have serious conversations in forums like these that are based in reality. you honestly believe that game developers OWE something to Nintendo & their customers and should release games for a system that they are sure to lose their asses on….why? THESE COMPANIES EXIST TO MAKE MONEY…. NOT TO PLEASE YOU AND OTHER FANBOYS! you’re right….you’re right… the world is against Nintendo for the hell of it and developers just choose the other platforms to try to hurt Nintendo… yeah, that seems reasonable…. LOL… (just to clarify, that last statement is sarcasm), LOL! Daniel Gonzalez Sarcasm that is certainly justified to me. Carl Fin eh, as a Wii U owner, really I don’t know why anyone cares. This game looks like crap, sounds like crap and if I wanted to play it, I’d get it on steam. greengecko007 It makes me sick to my stomach to see gamers hate on 3rd party developers just because their games aren’t coming to the Wii U. They gave the other batman games a chance, and they didn’t do well. Arkham City Armored Edition and Arkham Origins both released on the Wii U and did terrible. Arkham Origins was even $10 cheaper on the Wii U and the developers later added online multiplayer. If those games had been profitable, Arkham Knight would be coming to the Wii U, but obviously it wasn’t. “The real reason is because Wii U has a completely different architecture” It’s not “the real reason”, but it’s certainly icing on the cake. Why bother putting more work and money into something that you know isn’t going to make you money? URFTBOUND4LIFE . Well maybe if 3rd parties gave a damn about the quality and content of their games the Wii U versions would sell better. They have to make it more appealing to those who have the system.Half-ass work gets half-assed results. They rarely advertise or promote the Wii U versions. People either don’t know about them or decided on getting the other versions because they favor Sony and Micro too much. Give them everything and leave Wii U owners scraps as if we’re dog’s. Whats worse is gamers tolerate this attitude they have towards us consumers greengecko007 I can understand a demand for quality, but even when developers give the Wii U good versions, system owners don’t buy their games. I purchased AC3 and 4 for the Wii U and they run great despite not even being fully optimized for the Wii U, and are clearly upgrades of the PS3 and 360 versions. Unfortunately, not very many others bought those games, which only reinforces the idea that most Wii U owners aren’t interested in anything non-Nintendo. Daniel Gonzalez It’s been like this for years. I think by now, it’s certainly shown to hold true. BIG Franky FWIW, I own AC4 on PS4 and have played AC4 on Wii U and the differences are negligible at best…. basically the PS4 has a bit more detail in the hair and water dynamics…. to be honest, the hair doesn’t even look that much better in motion on the PS4 (in still shots its an obvi upgrade, i’m just saying its a difficult dynamic to make look good in video games)… overall point is, the Wii U version looks damn good. Brandon Well nintendo needs to advertise their console and those games more also. Daniel Gonzalez I’m quite sure you know that there has been plenty of third party games in the past for Nintendo consoles. Most of them don’t benefit well. Whether they are quality or not, they tend to get overshadowed often by 1st party games. It’s been like this since N64. Daniel Gonzalez Exactly. It makes no sense from a business standpoint. Gameonfool Big frankly is a fool, doesn’t know what he is talking about. It numbers always numbers not perceived audience he said well why didn’t the wii with its much larger install base get more 3rd party support. To be honest I just think 3rd parties like to make excuses to skip ninty cus they not as creative so it won’t sell Daniel Gonzalez While Wii did have a large install base, it’s sales numbers in terms of third party games, were smaller to that of 1st party. Look up sales on the best third party for the Wii and you’d see a pattern. Very few panned out well. It’s not an excuse, it’s been proven since the N64. Gameonfool Exactly perceived audience and there was allot of 3rd parties that didn’t even try Daniel Gonzalez “no developer is obligated in any way to spend time, money, or resources on a platform if they will not see a return on that investment….” It’s more of the investment. I’m quite sure it they saw a big return on that investment, it’s architecture wouldn’t have much to do with it, especially when there is profits to be had. It’s business first for these guys. Unlike indies, they can’t take the same risks when bigger money is involved. Complaining about it isn’t going to change things. No one is defending third parties here, just pointing out a simple fact of business. I guess blame whoever if it makes you feel better, but it only shows how bitter of a person you are. Gameonfool It’s not about install base as the ps4one has a Lower instal base, it’s about Nintendo fans only buying Nintendo games then moaning that there is no 3rd party support. BIG Franky from a previous comment….yes, while technically the install bases are the same RIGHT NOW… given the fact that the other consoles caught-up to what Wii U has sold in over a year in a matter of weeks demonstrates a trend that will see the PS4 and XB1 have an install base much larger than the Wii U by end of summer….THAT is what is dictating these decisions… not perceived audience…. it is numbers… ALWAYS numbers…. William Martinez True, it always comes to numbers but man developers should at least put some effort…. why would you buy a half assed version of a game? i have xbox 360 and Wii U and of course i always choose Wii U but if they give you a game without DLCs or multiplayer… or even without some features why would you buy it on Wii U? that’s why some games doesn’t sell well, if watch dogs is a complete version at least the same features as the other versions with online interaction besides miiverse i’ll buy it instantaneously, if not… well i have to buy it way later for my 360. YayGs Which sucks because it really should be developer interest that drives which console they develop for and not producer interests. But for multiplatform titles it’s just plain strange to exclude a platform. SkullScience That statement would make sense if it was coming to 360/PS3 but the install base at the moment is all roughly the same across Wii U/PS4 and XB1. I suspect it is more to do with X86 development and development costs. BIG Franky given the fact that Rocksteady has developed its predecessor to Wii U, to be honest I am mildly surprised that they aren’t at least giving it a try. Given this, I would assume that it would be able to be developed in tandem with the other versions….and would probably be worth them at least trying it… especially since the version of Arkham City they released on Wii U is probably the best version of the game that was released compared to the other platform versions… sadly it was released on Wii U more than a year after the game was released on the other platforms so everyone already owned (or at least played it) by that time… of course it wouldn’t sell that well…. oh well…. at least now I finally have a game worth playing on my PS4 (aside fro mAC4)… Petri WB montreal ported City for Wii U, and what I hear did pretty poor job at that too. BIG Franky no they didn’t… it was Rocksteady….the Wii U version was being worked on before City was even released on PS3 & XB360…. my guess is that they thought that Wi iU was going to be released much earlier than it ended up being released… (like most people were)…. WB Montreal was Origins. Petri http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/06/05/batman-arkham-city-armored-edition-announced.aspx You have better information, please lay it on me. BIG Franky I would personally take the word of someone that actually works at Rocksteady than that of a blogger with no citation: http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1092404/batman_arkham_city_on_wii_u_will_play_to_consoles_strengths.html Petri Every source I can find, credit WB Montreal or both. That does not really clarify what they did on it. Might very well be that they were working on it at first, then it got sifted to WB Montreal. Every information of 2012 and later, I can only find claims of WB Montreal porting it. Also WB Montreal claims Armoured Edition as “Our games” http://www.wbgamesmontreal.com/ But I guess this could only be confirmed by going directly for the source. And I doubt neither of us really has the interest for that. BIG Franky yeah to be honest…I could care less…. but to clarify, in no way was the port of Arkham City poorly received…. it is superior to the PS3 version (which I originally owned). Petri I dont know, I just hear reports it being worse on technical level. I do enjoy playing the challenges with Catwoman and Robin (or was it Nighthawk). So I might someday get it for Wii U as well. Did not much care for Deathstroke. Harley Quinn might be fun. SkullScience No, Arkham City AE is the definitive version. Superior on a technical level to PS3 and 360 versions. A very good game on the Wii U. Arkham Origins was also very good, some people reported issues such as frame drops and locking up but mine has been fine. I suspect there are a few iffy Wii U’s out there. Stephen Macneil Wrong once again. matthew garcia Does not suprise me. Wii u is not selling well. Its almost non existent nobody talks about it MerryBlind . People are starting to talk more about it now because of people like me who spread the words of wisdom. matthew garcia Besides me and the people on this forum I know nobody else who owns a wii u. Ps4 just came out and know quite a few who own one already MerryBlind . Well personally, I was the first of my friends and of ‘people I know’ to buy a Wii U, but also the first to buy a Next-Gen console, period. I know only one person who bought a PS4 in Fall, but he sold it on Ebay for more than he paid when he realized there was no games for it. One of my friends, who I know was already interested in getting a Wii U maybe some day, just bought one last week after I told him I got one for Christmas, that, and for Donkey Kong lol. D.M.T Just because you know nobody who own a Wii U doesn’t mean the Wii U is irrelevant. You’re not making any sense. Mario With wisdom comes knowledge. D.M.T If nobody is talking about it then how come everyone is hating on it? You can’t be the most hated and irrelevant at the same time. Sony fanboys spend more time bashing the Wii U than playing their shitty games. matthew garcia Lol if everyone is hating on it then that means nobody is buying it. Which makes sense cuz it’s selling like crap Zorpix *waggles fingers* another batman game. Wooooo Russell Xix Tandy A real shame as rocksteady make dam good games and this will be far better than origins was Sylux On the previous article showing the logo (assuming that was also for this game) I said it probably would skip Wii U and that I TRULY HOPED TO BE WRONG for a change, sadly my gut NEVER fails me, and once again it doesn’t abandon me, I wish it did for once, all this crap about Skipping Wii U Cancelling Season Pass, Cancelling DLC, dropping multiplayer and have the guts to ask only €/$ 10,- less for the Retail version makes me wonder. Does it have to do with Install base and sales? They want you to believe that and they say that is th reason, but it’s all lies, looks like they simply can’t compete with First Party games because Nintendo overshadows all… …Atleast they would if the released them… Nonetheless once again bad news, Nintendo really MUST PUSH their first party releases if they want to keep floating, not delays for 1-2 years on each and every game as they do now… James060394 Another major third party title gone. Very disappointing 🙁 Carl Fin eh. this series has gone down the toilet. Many people with the Wii U enjoy pc gaming and if they even had time for this tripe it would be on the pc DK_Hadouken Games with barely a development cycle…. http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/well_la_dee_fricken_da.gif Christopher Acuna It has become pretty clear based on my games library for my Wii U…it is a dedicated 1st party/indie machine. Now if only Nintendo can pop out an FPS with solid multiplayer. DK_Hadouken Didn’t Miyamoto show interest in FPS at one point? Christopher Acuna I have no idea man lol. TBH I don’t even think a great FPS will win over any of today’s anti Nintendo gamers. steveb944 Good riddance. No more half baked games for us, or skipping on DLC. Now I don’t need an excuse to not buy an yearly rehash of a game. I expect Assassin’s Creed might do the same. I just hope the batmobile is used as much as the batwing in the current title, quick travel and nothing more. Otherwise I’ll be disappointed that as soon as they change the rehash formula we get skipped. palomino blue On one hand I hate to see games skipping the Wii U but in all honesty I wasn’t going to buy this game or any in the series. It’s really not why I bought a Wii U. Mario Ahh… Not this again. Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog Arkham Knight will not be on Wii U Because it’s too powerful for Wii U Plummer 😉 Drewtlo Well that sucks. I was looking forward to another Arkham game on the Wii U 🙁 Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog it’s too powerful Googs Are they trying to milk this franchise or something? MerryBlind . Seems like it, and from what I’ve heard/read, Origins wasn’t that good, so who knows what will happen with this one, although Rocksteady are back, so that should help. Vegeta937 Except Rocksteady IS developing this one… Rinslowe Ah well, PC it is… YayGs I wouldn’t care as much if it wasn’t being developed by Rocksteady as I’m sure they’ll have some interesting twist to the game. Origins is okay, but definitely not up to the same standards as the first two. 504HotBoy That’s why it’s a great thing to own multiple systems. I will be picking this up for my PS4 later this year, when it releases. Also copping Bayonetta 2 for my Wii U when it releases. Sam Well we have SSB and MK8 coming out, so screw you RockSteady. Ace J we have to stop doing that. Petri Publisher is usually the one to decide these… One link that Big Frankie gave to me, claimed Rocksteady has lot of Nintendo fans, might be BS though? J_Joestar Yeah, a lot of the times the developers really get little say in these decisions if the publisher is really insistent upon it. Ducked The game still might come to Wii U. Look at CoD Ghosts, and Blacklist. But this is a reason while I’ll have both Wii U and PS4 wii u is awsome actually keep your hopes up this could be a rumour with a fanart i mean why would they just tell a blogger website why not on their twitter or it could be a hoax like the fallout 4 one just so they can clarify on twitter no its not that its somthing else and it will come to wii u so until i get official confirmation its on wii u in my book metalpants Well, I’m kind of surprised but I really shouldn’t be… I mean c’mon… the game isn’t even being released on PS360… that fact alone by definition pretty much nulls any possibility of it going to Wii U. They would have to take the “new gen” version and make a complete program rehaul, take away a TON of real-time effects, drop poly counts like crazy, and cut corners everywhere just to get things running on a system where that type of game isn’t really appreciated. Which is a darn shame too… I may be a Nintendo fan and only buy their systems, but I love those type of games way more than 2D platformers and such. Anyway, if this is an official PR statement, I have to admit that their decision makes perfect sense to me. Spike Ashford Well fuck you too, WB. Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog well i saw the details and Arkham Knight is too Powerful for Wii U Spike Ashford I’m going to take a stab in the dark and call bullshit on that. I bet that the Wii U can run Arkham Knight just fine, and that WB are just being cunts. Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog oh yeah Of Course the Wii U can run Arkham Knight even you can Explore Hole Gotham City Plus The Bat-Mobile available to Drive-In With Pure Realistic Design. NOT!!! URFTBOUND4LIFE . Dude, your 90’s is showing… Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog My What? URFTBOUND4LIFE . I hope to god you are not referring to that CG trailer they put up. Until I see in-game footage of what you describe then well see whether or not Wii U can handle it Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog It’s not the Trailer where i get that it was from IGN D.M.T Oh what a shock. This one is skipping Wii U because devs are too lazy to make a version of the game for a system that has a different architecture. They rather put the game on those wannabe Gaming PC the Xbox One and PS4. Assholes NintendoFan If they don’t want my hard earned cash then fine I just won’t buy their games. Dark-Link73 To all of you claiming that it’s because the Wii U’s lack of power, I am starting to believe that it has nothing to do with the console’s power (or lack of) nor even the sales. It’s about the console’s architecture. Allow me explain my theory. As you all know (and in case you don’t) the Wii U has a different architecture than the PS4 and the X1. The Wii U’s architecture is like the PS360 which allowed for all those ports to be released during its first year of release. This allowed developers to create games for all three consoles with minimal variation for the Wii U (let’s face it, off tv play and map/gadget display on the Gamepad is not much of a different to work on U vs.the PS360). Unfortunately, what Nintendo didn’t count on (or knew but decided to ignore for the sake of having an affordable console) was on the PS4 and X1 using different architectures than their predecessors, thus making it hard (once again) for developers to simply port their games on Wii U. Today’s business model is about making the maximum return with minimal initial investment. The Wii U requires developers to have a dedicated team making games for it. This goes against today’s business model. Now, you might say “but the Wii U is not selling, that’s why developers aren’t making games/DLC for it.” That is partially true, however, let’s take a look at the last generation of gaming. The Wii was last generation’s undisputed champion with over 100 million units sold in seven years. That’s over 14 million consoles a year! Yet, the Wii didn’t get the high profile titles like Batman, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, and others. Not because the Wii didn’t have HD graphics, after all Activision brought the CoD series to Wii without a problem, but because the Wii has a different engine than the PS360. If you think about it, Activision always had Treyarch making the CoD games while IW made the other consoles. That was because Treyarch created the modified CoD engine for Wii on WaW, so it was cheaper for Activision to just have Treyarch do it than IW start from scratch. The other studios/developers didn’t want to invest extra money and resources to modify their game engines for the Wii. If Activision did it, there was no reason Ubisoft couldn’t bring Assassin’s Creed to Wii, or EA bring Mass Effect. It was about the extra time and money used to work separately on Wii vs PS360. So unless Nintendo starts making consoles with the same architecture as its competitors, Nintendo is always going to be lacking full third party support generation after generation. matthew garcia Ps2 is the best selling console of all time and the least powerful of its generation but had all of the major games from third party. Also had the biggest gaming library in console history Dark-Link73 The Sixth Generation of consoles was affected by a whole different set of circumstances than today’s consoles. The PS2 was coming off the huge success of the original PS, whereas the GCN was coming off the “commercial failure” (debatable term) the N64 was. The N64 was a nightmare for which to write games due to the architecture and the limitations of the cartridge based medium, so developers moves away from it, so when Nintendo came back with the GCN, they tried to bring back developers. However this failed in the long run due to the lack of online capabilities and the smaller disk medium. There, it was about which console offered the most features (online gaming) and developers mainly choose the PS2. jjbredesen *There was online, but only Sega Online, and MK DD used it. Dark-Link73 Yeah but only because SEGA had the server to do it. Nintendo didn’t have their own infrastructure back then (I’m not even sure if they run Nintendo Network or somebody else does). If you remember, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was ran by GameSpy (at least here in NA. IDK about Europe and Asia). As for MKDD!! It was only LAN, not online. So no, the GCN did not offer online gaming from Nintendo. jjbredesen Yeah, i know, but it was cabeble of it…. Dark-Link73 So was the N64 (to surf the Web) and Nintendo never implemented that. Even if the hardware is “capable” of doing something, if the feature is not implemented, then is as if it was never capable of doing it. Brandon No xbox had xbox live. Well all four of them had online, but only two had a dedicated online service. DragonSilths Nintendo DS passed the PS2… Stephen Macneil Here you go making stuff up again… DragonSilths Nobody has actually shown the most recent numbers. It passed it. It was closing in and then people stopped posting about it. But it passed it. Kenshin0011 Way to go on a tangent, huh? Wii U cannot handle REAL next gen multiplats without being severely downgraded. Period. Nintendo knew that, and I knew that when I bought a Wii U. Is what Nintendo built into the Wii U a bad decision? Maybe. Does it matter now? No, it’s too late. The Wii U is what it is and will stay that way until next time URFTBOUND4LIFE . Please stop calling it “next gen”….I get what your saying but stop using buzz terms. Next Gen is referring to the future generation (which is not here yet). This is now current gen because it started the moment all three consoles entered the market. Kenshin0011 Oooh, sorry to get your panties in a wad over a term I used that displeased you. Sorry that the console generation is still in transition, for games are still coming out on ps3/360. Sorry that multiplats are yet to be only made for PS4/Xbone. Gentle Robot It’s not in transition. Customers don’t see the value in discarding the system and games they’ve had for years for minor improvements, and publishers would rather sell to an established install base. Kenshin0011 Did I say anything about discarding ps3’s and 360’s? Eventually within about 2 years, games will no longer be produced for ps3/360 and the transition will be complete. dtm808 the term still dosnt make sense. the “next” gen consoles are already out so they are current. ps3/360 are last gen as of now. PS2 games were being made years after PS3 that dosnt mean PS3 was still next gen. DragonSilths Doesn’t mean shit if the past gen is still supported its still last gen systems. Dark-Link73 I’m not going off any tangent buddy. The business world runs on many variables and it is not as simply as a black or white scenario as you put it. If developers were to choose the consoles for which they’d make their games solely on power, then the N64 would’ve beaten the PSX, the GCN would’ve beaten the PS2, and the PS3 would’ve beaten the Wii U. But that wasn’t the case now, was it? In each of those instances there were different circumstances that affected the decisions of developers for not making games for Nintendo consoles. In the case of U, I firmly believe is because of the architecture. We’re also in a recession era which causes companies to save as much money as possible while maximizing returns. If two out of the three big console makers are offering the same base for their games, making it ready for the developer to just simply copy and paste their work from one console to the next, why would companies waste time, money, and resources in making games from the ground up for the odd ball when they can get a big return with minimal investment from the other two? Times are changing and Nintendo needs to change too. They can’t afford to continue being the odd ball. Nintendo needs to be like the other two, at the core, without comprising their strive for innovation. Kenshin0011 What you say is true. Though the fact still remains that the wii u will not be able to adequately run multi plat games developed using the full power of Xbone and Ps4, regardless of how well the wii u is doing. The same happened last gen. The wii was the best selling console, yet you didn’t see major multiplat games on it because it couldn’t run them. Dark-Link73 True, the U is underpowered against the other two consoles. However, just because it’s underpowered, it doesn’t mean it can’t run the x86 architecture. You also have to remember that two big “Next-Gen” (current by now) can actually run on Wii U. The CryEngine3 is one of them. I forgot the other one. They just need to be slightly modified. Crysis 3 was up and running on U but EA cancelled it on Crytek. Again, companies don’t want to spend the money, (or hold a grudge against Nintendo like EA) to modify their games for Nintendo. Stephen Macneil For what I read rocksteady simply could not put what they needed on screen in last gen consoles or the wii u. It’s five times bigger than AC and supposedly has tons of on screen characters. Financially they could make more off selling it on ps3 and 360 bit they simply can’t pull it off and neither can the wii u. Ace J the other one mighr be unreal engine 4?? which was proven that the wii u can run Dark-Link73 Actually I was thinking of the Frosbyte engine (somebody else mentioned it). I didn’t know the Unreal 4 engine also could run on the Wii U. Do even better, the latest release of all the major engines can work on the U. Thanks for bringing that up. Ace J whoa the wii u can run frosbyte too?? Dark-Link73 Yeah, i forgot where I read (it was sometime last year) that EA or DICE admitted that the latest Frosbite could be modify to run on Wii U since it’s a very flexible engine. Ace J oh yeah now i remember. there was “supposedly” a battlefield game in development for the wii u at the time. DragonSilths False. Wii U can run any multiplat the Xbox One and PS4 can, Course it wouldn’t be as strong and the PS4 version, but Xbox One is hardly stronger then the Wii U. Stephen Macneil You obviously don’t understand condole specs. DragonSilths I’ve worked on all 3 dev kits, you can whine and insult me all you want to. I don’t really give a flying fuck. SkullScience The latest versions of Cryengine, Frostbyte and Unreal engine have all been proven to work on Wii U. The decision is most likely economic than technical, with the only versions being released being based on X86 architecture. Stephen Macneil Having thd engines run is one thing, but what’s done within those engines is something else entirely. If this game requires 200 criminals all fighting batman with tons of effects it simply won’t run on weaker systems. That’s just an example, but there’s just going to be some games designed in a way that can’t run on older or weaker hardware. It’s always been that way. SkullScience If a game “requires” 200 criminals then it will be a terrible game. Throwing numbers at you in a Dynasty Warriors style free for all would not make a good Batman game. To suggest a Wii U could not do that within the boundaries of a videogame is idiotic anyhow. Anyone with an ounce of programming knowledge would know there are many ways to take pressure off a weaker system, maintain frame-rate and still throws large numbers of objects around a screen. As I said, it is more likely “won’t spend the money” than “not technically capable”. If it is being released on PC I suspect your average rig will be able to run it and that is not dedicated hardware, but it is X86!! DragonSilths Wii U can handle any multiplat that the other 2 can. Just have to optimize the game. Brandon Actually the wii was not stronger enough to run most 3rd party games that came out last gen, thats why it had a low libary and the online was horrible and didnt allow for dlc on games or updates. Dark-Link73 It’s all about the engine. Look at Metroid Prime Crruption, Red Steel 2, BWii, Conduit, the CoD games, etc. All of those games had either a proprietary engine designed from the ground up for the Wii or modified for the Wii. All of those games are great, big (except conduit, too short of a campaign), and can handle several elements on screen. Those games showed that with the right engine the Wii could produce great games. Now, we’ll never know if the Wii could’ve handled or not AC, ME, or any other franchise that didn’t make it, however, if Treyarch could port CoD and do such a great job with it, I’m sure some franchises could’ve been ported to Wii. As for the online, yes it was below par. Nintendo contracted GameSpy and did not charge for the service, so one can see why we got what we got. However, the Wii could support a good multiplayer experience whenever the time and resources were allocated to it; look at MoH: Heroes, it could handle up to 32 player matches! That was unheard of for a console at that time. Sure it wasn’t perfect but it was really good for being the Wii. The Wii did support DLC (otherwise there would not have had the Wii Shop), GH, RB, Just Dance, and others had DLC. Even CoD: Black Ops was supposed to have DLC (it was promoted in the instruction booklet), but for whatever unknown reason the maps never were made. The Wii was a good console. But needed it a lot of individual attention developers were not willing to give. Brandon Most 3rd party games werent able to run on wii, because the gpu and cpu were both weak and had such a small amount of ram. COD didnt take that much power to run because it was a engine that had been downscaled alot from the original. AC and ME definitely wouldnt have played or it would look and play like crap and not feel the same as the other consoles. Dark-Link73 I think with a proprietary engine or heavily modifying the original engine AC 1 & 2 and ME 1&2 would’ve been possible on Wii. However, (beating on the dead horse by now), it would’ve required heavy investment from the developers. But we will never now for sure, won’t we? Lucas Don’t forget that Goldeneye 007 looked stunning for the Wii DragonSilths Warner Bros doesn’t want to support Nintendo. That simple. They will say the userbase is to small for it to make money, yet Xbox One is less then Wii U so their logic is flawed. Stephen Macneil No it’s because it’s hard to make a port on a system not capable of running the software. The game is being designed with ps4 and Xbox one architecture in mind. If they could run it on weaker systems there would be PS3/360 ports. DragonSilths no they CHOSE not to make it a Last Gen game as well as current gen. That’s why there is no last gen version. Stephen Macneil Of course they chose not to, because it’s either not worth the effort or they wanted to design a game that just wouldn’t be possible on older/weaker hardware. SkullScience Technically not true, it was designed with PC architecture in mind. The XB1 and PS4 were designed for inexpensive development costs by being essentially a console PC. The 360 was pretty much anyway, hence the reason the PS3 had a rough first 18 months (it was different). There is actually no technical reason it could not be on 360/PS3. Everything is scalable, especially this early on in the lifecycle of XB1 and PS4. It is simply devs will decide to cut the support for previous gen at some point and we are starting to see it. Development costs money. Stephen Macneil Right, everything is scalable. Do we really want a low res, low polygonal, shitty textured game? If it’s designed to take the most out of current gen systems it would be a nightmare to port. SkullScience Really? You just don’t know do you! Being inferior does not equate to “low res, low polygonal, shitty textured game”. It just means inferior. It would not be a nightmare to port. It would just mean lower post-processing at most. #if you think this game will “make the most out of current gen systems” I suspect you will have a nasty shock coming to you. We are not at that stage of development with this gen yet. It is simply too early on in the lifecycle. The fact that they say this game is being released this year leads me to believe they will simply build on what they already have but this time with the Batmobile as a mode of transport!! Yay!!! Something I am sure the Wii U could not handle!! Stephen Macneil So why aren’t they porting it then? It’s not worth it for them even though there are 160 million + ps3/360 out there?. My point about 200 criminals was hyperbolic, not what I wanted to see. I’m sure a wii u port is possible but it would look like crap and there’s reasons they don’t want to be even thinking about last gen and wii u when designing the game. Doesn’t matter anyway, it’s not happening regardless of the reason. SkullScience As myself and many others have said… X86 ARCHITECTURE!!!!! There is, effectively, one version of this game. It would not look like crap on Wii U. This game has had a tiny development cycle due to the dev kits release date. It would look inferior but unless you believe the other Batman titles look like crap on Wii U (they are the definitive versions visually) then be prepared for a disappointment!! The XB1 and PS4 versions are not going to be hugely above what ps3/360 are capable of. We are too early in the consoles life and dev cycle! How difficult is that to understand? Do you even own a Wii U? The reason they are not making it is Wii U is not X86 and hence would need a separate dev team and as a result considerable amount more time and resources (such as what as happened with Watchdogs). They are not the first dev team to indicate this as a reason. Stephen Macneil Yes I own a wii U and gave twelve games for it. I got AA for Xbox 360 and AC and AO for the Wii U. While AC ran fine, AO was a mess. I was really pissed at myself for not getting the 360 version because I would get heavy heavy frame drops on wii u and I’ve had to force restart my Wii U many times with the Wii U crashing at key moments. I 350 version ran at a steady 30fps. I have a ps4 so I would play AK on Wii U anyway, but I think it’s premature to assume this fame will run just like past ports on Wii U. If AO had major frame rate issues, how would this look on Wii U??? Stephen Macneil I’m not being an ass, but explain to me how x86 architecture benefits the Wii U if it’s using power PC? I honestly don’t understand that so I need someone to explain how that works. If anything it would seem like that makes of more difficult to port but I’m not a programmer. SkullScience Eh? What? X86 doesn’t benefit Wii U, that is my point. That is not to say Power PC is weak, just different. So money for either a separate dev team or time (which costs money) for further development would be required for Wii U/PS3 and 360 versions as they all use different architecture to X86. Wii U uses Power PC, Xbox 360 initially used Power PC before opting for IBM Xenon and PS3 uses the rather notorious Cell architecture. Power PC should not be difficult to develop for, it is not a radical new architecture. Quite simply, the indication is that it (AK) is one of the first titles not to be released on anything other than X86 architecture, which indicates Warner Bros are not putting too much finance into this title. As I said, from a programming point of view, there is only one version of this game. Ace J this was good and all but don’t forget that the ps3 was difficult to develop for at first too. Sony themselves even said that the architecture in the ps3 was a mistake they wont make again. Gabe Hoffman One question I have is this just a retail listing or an official statement from the publisher? I would rather wait Until WB says so themselves as they are bringing Blackgate to Wii U and it doesn’t make much sense considering they gave us the last two Batman games Petri Even though this is being developed by Rocksteady, the insult to gamers all around that was Arkham Origins, left a bad taste that cant be forgotten too soon. So I’ll wait until this one is under 20€ on Steam. Ace J oh but of course it’s not coming to the wii u! *sigh* smh Lil J Moore I can’t say I’m surprised. really. As much as I agree with their decision I just don’t understand why developers take out content on one console and expect it to sale like hotcakes. Adrian Brown AO didn’t sell well on Wii U. Why? Maybe because it was a downgraded version? Then they blame sales and don’t release the next game on Wii U. It’s a f*king cycle and I’m sick of it! Mr Ninty and we shall laugh and spit in the faces of the developers that disgraced the almighty nintendo ‘king of games’. and they will ask us why we wont heed there calls. and we shall say to them you developers abandoned your king for your own greed and now you come crawling back on your hands and feet like the pigs that you are. only because mario kart put AAA in AAA games something that you pigs never achieved, and there for the wiiu sold like guaranteed sex books for 18years olds. and now with more of these AAA games coming and the wiiu kicking your filthy buts you realy think that we would greet you with open arms. no we say to them. first show me if you have learned your lesson and are worthy of the king. so would you kindly… CaesarGood But we still get Blackgate from the DS to the wii u shop right??? J_Joestar well it is already a completed game so it probably isn’t costing them a whole lot to port. audi lover Any dick that’s been buying 3rd party games for other consoles aint been looking hard enough i picked up brand new copy of black flag and origins for 14.99 each that’s 30 pound cheaper than on other consoles get your selfs out there and hunt down those cheap wii u games got 23now and i haven’t paid over 30 pound for any of them Roman This is because almost no one bought Arkham city. Why should a developer invest into a console whose install base does not buy it’s games? Although we want to think of the Wii U as both a family and hardcore gaming machine, the majority of Wii U owners didn’t buy games like Mass Effect 3, Injustice Gods Among Us, and Batman Arkham City. I am not surprised. I may not be a child or afraid of these types of games, but I would not want my younger siblings to play them or watch me play them; most of my “mature” games reside on my PC for that reason. However, I still really want to get Watch_Dogs for the Wii U (please don’t cancel, Ubi, please! >.< ). J_Joestar well the enhanced edition ports were nice but hardly justify the full price when you could get a them for 1/2 to 1/3 the price on other systems already. John Andalora Not surprising. City and Origins sold 0.20 and 0.15 million units on Wii U in comparison to 9 and 3 million respectively. It’s literally not worth their time to develop for the console because the Wii U is not going to give them a profit. People can scream and cry about how lazy developers are or how they treat the console like a kid, but there hasn’t been a single game outside of Nintendo that actually made a profit on this thing. You expect 3rd party to develop for a console that no one wants their games on? And before I get people saying “well they make cheap versions of the game that no one would want to buy anyways,” What about Arkham City? There’s not even an excuse on City. People tend to say “Well Origins had chopped off multiplayer!” City was the full release, and even added things. What’s the excuse for not buying it? Prince Ali I bought Arkham City at launch for Wii U because I drooled at having an always-on map in an open world type game. But to be fair, it launched on the Wii U at $60 when the GOTY edition for other consoles was readily available for $20… John Andalora Ah. That does make sense. Petri Funny thing about City, I had played it out already six months before it hit on the Wii U. Also the reports of bad (really noticeable) frame rate issues did not help. Most of the Wii U gamer base had most probably already played it like me. I bought Origins for Wii U, and as I hear it was the most stable version out there, I did not even care about missing features. What pissed me off was their middle finger for gamers all around. John Andalora Huh. I’d read somewhere it was a rather stable issue of the game. But I do suppose that the release date was something I hadn’t thought about. Petri I cant say, I had it on PC, though still think Arkham Asylum was best of them. gerb1977 So what you are saying is…..they both sold to the same % of console owners for Wii U vs 360/PS3…… Of course a developer shouldn’t make a game if they think they will lose money on it…..but there is something to be said about losing a little money early on in order to make money in the future. By ignoring the 6 million owners now….they pretty much assure they won’t sell games in the future when the base is much larger. But this is a cycle that has been on going since the N64 days J_Joestar sadly a lot of them think in short-term profits that look pleasing to investors. Kenshin0011 Either way, it’s no surprise that the REAL next gen multiplats are going to skip Wii U. Even if the sales of the past Batman games hypothetically sold decent on Wii U, I still don’t see WB making a severely downgraded port for Wii U. It simply does not have the power to display the game. RedRocBoy Okay whatever bro. Keep telling yourself that. Kenshin0011 Huh? Are you really taking what I said personally? It’s the truth, care to explain otherwise? jrob23 guess PS4 and Xbone don’t have the power to display Bayo 2 and X huh? Great reasoning buddy Kenshin0011 Huh? What does that have to do with anything? Bayonetta 2 and X are wii u exclusives and will never be made for another console so what are you talking about? And hypothetically, yes, the Xbone/PS4 can handle those games because their components are more powerful. jrob23 says you and Sony fanboys. We just witnessed Rayman Legends being the definitive version of a game on all systems. How can that be if it’s so weak? Sadly, that is the one and only time a dev put in the effort to make the Wii U version tight. Imagine if they all made games with talent and effort like Nintendo? But I can’t disprove your point anymore than you can mine. Point is…the Wii U DOES have the power to keep up. Maybe not in year 3 and beyond, but now and for awhile it does. Kenshin0011 I’m not a Sony fanboy, if anything, it’s Nintendo. Rayman Legends isn’t the definitive version because of its graphics. So again, everything you’re saying is irrelevant and stupid. The point is that major multiplats will start to not come for wii u because the port would have to be visually downgraded considerably. This is the same reason we didn’t get major multiplats on the Wii jrob23 Legends IS the definitive version. If there is any difference in graphics it’s negligible. You are bad at trolling. Which major muti plats that DIDN’T come out for the weaker PS360 did the Wii U NOT get? I’m waiting Kenshin0011 You’re a special kind of stupid, aren’t you? I never said that Rayman Legends is NOT the definitive version, let me clarify. Rayman Legends is not the definitive version because of graphics, it’s the definitive version because of controls and because it was designed for wii u. South Park just now didn’t come to wii u, destiny is not coming to Wii u, dbz battle of z didn’t come to wii u, etc. But those decisions were not because of graphics so Idk why you like to get off topic….Major multiplats made for only Xbone/PS4 are not going to come to wii u ONLY because of graphics. A perfect example is FF15 and KH3 both of those franchises do well on Nintendo hardware, though the wii u simply can’t handle those games so it doesn’t get them jrob23 nice backtrack idiot. Southpark? Seriously, a crude game like that for Nintendo? Okay buddy. FAIL. FF15 and KH3 would NOT do well on the Wii U. Wake up. And yes, the Wii U can handle them. You are clueless, just give up already Kenshin0011 Very ignorant and foolish. South Park was on the N64 and Final Fantasy has been on most Nintendo consoles and handhelds and the most recent Kingdom Hearts game, a very important entry in the franchise, was exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS. So yes, they would do well….that is, IF the Wii U was able to handle FF15 or KH3 when it can’t. It literally doesn’t have the compatible DirectX version to do it. I welcome you to prove otherwise. jrob23 LOL at you thinking FF15 and KH3 not being on Wii U has anything to do with graphics or power. You are a lost cause, I am done with you Kenshin0011 Uh – huh, right…..i guess Square Enix specifically saying so is also a lost cause? http://mynintendonews.com/2013/06/18/square-enix-reveals-why-kingdom-hearts-3-and-final-fantasy-xv-wont-be-coming-to-wii-u/ It really must suck to be you, being so ignorant, dull, and uninformed. Man, I pity you jrob23 you went full retard .It’s exactly how I said it. They don’t want to take the time to work around that issue (which they could if they wanted to) and because sales will suck anyway, they aren’t going to bother. I get English may not be your strong suit but nowhere in that linked article does it say anything about the Wii U not being powerful enough. All it said was it doesn’t do Directx11 which is not nearly the same thing. Holy smokes you are dense Brandon They do, but the the game is exclusive. Dont be hurt. The wii u is just not as powerful as ps4 or xbox one. NkoSekirei but at least it more powerful then ps3 and 360 so im fine with that jrob23 not hurt…we all know it’s not as powerful as the PS4. Don’t be so sure about the Xbone though. That said, we aren’t talking wii to PS360 difference. We are talking barely discernible differences. Not that we’ll ever truly know because it would take an impartial 3rd party dev willing to put in time and effort to maximizing all three to their fullest to know for sure. But that will NEVER happen so we will be debating this for years. Brandon The wii u wont be able to run the same as xbox one or ps4 even if devs maxed put the power. Theres not enough ram, the gpu is not nearly as strong, but the cpu mostl likly can handle the job. There is games already coming out on ps4 and xbox that wouldnt be able to run on the wii u, or it would get a complete downgrade and kill the game. jrob23 you are talking out your ass. You have almost 2% understanding of the Wii U architecture and that little knowledge was probably learned from some Sony fanboy blog site. Fact is, the Wii U is getting X, Project Cars, Kart, Bayonetta 2, and Smash Brothers. I am sure a Zelda is on the way too eventually. They have already shown the ability to deliver games in 1080p and 60fps, something Xbone is struggling with on certain games. Just because some Xbone version and Wii U versions of games haven’t been 1080p compared to PS4 does not mean those machines are incapable. It means the devs have a limited amount of time to make the game and can’t devote more to those versions. If a dev did the best they could with no time constraints they could equal PS4 right now. In a couple of years the hardware capabilities of the PS4 for sure, and the Xbone to an extent will be more pronounced compared to the Wii U. Right now? NO!!! So any excuse that the Wii U is weak…RIGHT NOW…is utter bullshit and anyone who says different is an ignorant fanboy Brandon I know hareware. Those games that you mentioned can run the exact same on ps4 and xbox. X has not been confirmed to be running 1080p and project cars is only running 720p@30fps. Yes none of the consoles are performing there best, but later when the true power is shown the wii u still wont perform the same, it just doesnt have the resources. Just because its running 1st party games at 1080p doesnt mean much especially when they take less graphicing power. Go compare the division(which is not coming to wii u for hardware reasons) to any of the three exclusives you listed and you can see what im talking about. Im not a fanboy to any company I like what all offer, its just nintendo has failed me again with their consoles. jrob23 you have zero idea of the true capabilities of the Wii U, the PS4 or the Xbone. When you talk like you do, you sound stupid. So don’t. Even Nintendo is still learning how to dev for the Wii U. You think a non dev like you miraculously knows its limitations in comparison to the PS4 and Xbone? My point about those games coming to the Wii U is to show that the Wii U is quite capable of providing stunning looking games. Especially for the types of games it makes. Who cares if it can’t handle Uncharted 4 when it finally comes out? That is an exclusive to Sony anyway. Who cares if it can’t handle Halo 6? That’s exclusive to Microsoft. It CAN handle Arkham Knight. It isn’t coming because of politics and money. It has ZERO to do with power or graphics. Stop claiming it does. There is not a single game out for PS4 at this time that the Wii U couldn’t reproduce almost 95%. That percentage will slowly decrease as time goes on. But I predict by the time it gets out of hand…Nintendo will have come out with a new console and close the gap once and for all. But they STILL won’t get 3rd party games. Because it is NOT about anything but politics Brandon Im not saying im a dev or that i know everything about these consoles. Im not saying that wii u games are ugly, they look very good. But i know hardware. If the wii u was to run arkham knight it wouldnt be the same. Graphics quality wouldnt be the same, frame rate, and detail. 95% is bullshit im guessing you didnt look up the division, or matter of fact the witcher 3. Devs dont even think about putting these type of games on the wii u because of hardware also. Games like this would not meet the devs visions of the game on the wii u, and when presented with stronger hardware they decided to finally do there idea. When nintendo releases their console it wont be too long before sony and microsoft do also. jrob23 ha ha the Witcher on Nintendo? lol…please. Like I said, nothing out today is above Wii U’s ability. Those games look sick, but they don’t come out till late this year if the don’t get delayed. Also, people are going by how these look in game trailers which is never how good they look in real life. Regardless, it doesn’t make sense to cry about games like those not coming to the Wii U. They’d never sell. Who cares if the Wii U can handle them? What’s the point of saying fps and ultra realistic games can’t work on the Wii U when you can never be proven right or wrong? I just don’t get all these claims from people about the Wii U’s weakness when they’ve barely scratched the surface of what it can do. Even Nintendo admits they were way behind the HD curve. They won’t hit their stride until late 2015. Same goes for Xbone. It is struggling to keep up with PS4, actually it’s failing badly…but it too will look much better given more time. We all know the PS4 is amazing, and more powerful. Nobody is arguing that. The point is…the Wii U CAN handle Arkham Knight without a problem. It is not coming because of politics and money. why you and others insist on believing it’s due to hardware is beyond me. jrob23 if as I anticipate the next Nintendo console is released in 2016 (4 full years after the failed Wii U)…there is absolutely ZERO chance the others will follow. The PS4 and Xbone will have 8 year lifespans at minimum. They’d each be in year 2, why would they follow Nintendo shortly thereafter. That’s like thinking the PS3 should have stopped in 2010. It only hit its stride at that time and you would have missed all the great games the devs were able to make after maxing out the system. The reason the Wii U must come out with another console is because they screwed the pooch royally this gen. They were ill prepared, made bad choices, and failed to support it enough with 1st party or securing 3rd party. They can’t afford to sink more time into it beyond 2016. My guess is a gamepadless console, tied to the 3DS, with power equal but not more than the PS4 and slightly more than Xbone. That might work for them. Hopefully they don’t blow their software load on the Wii U and can launch that system with a Mario Galaxy, Metroid, or new IP. But I will still by another Wii U after a price drop and more games because it does have great games now and coming asdfg -severely- downgraded? I realize there’ Kenshin0011 No, it’s not as big as last gen but it’s still big enough. Why else do you think FF15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 are not coming to Wii U? Carl Fin As someone who plays on the pc and Wii U, I don’t really care. RedRocBoy Nintendo should’ve made sure this came to the Wii U. Power is not the issue it’s the architecture. Wish they would have got with Nintendo to help port it to the Wii U. Really love the Arkham series. Bought the first two on 360, went back and the Armored Edition and Origins on Wii U. I’m paying 400$ just to play a few games that I’m interested in. Guess I’ll be playing this sometime in future. This crap is really getting old. Kenshin0011 The Wii U will not be capable of a game specifically made for Xbone/PS4 unless they make an ugly, downgraded port for Wii U. Why would they do that? jrob23 no Kenshin0011 …what does that mean jrob23 it means no…or…your post is awful and trolling…no Kenshin0011 You’re the troll, what I say is true ben I think, this has nothing to do with Nintendo. Why should Nintendo support companies who have no connection with Nintendo? Of course more software might sell more hardware, however, if the same game appears on the PS4 it wont get those PS4 customers to buy a Wii U. Only unique experiences can get customers to buy a WIi U now. WiiUPS4 Well than they won’t mind if i pass on getting this game than. Morgan Mollwing Thank´s a lot Warner. This is the thanks u get for supporting your games on WiiU. I have bought both Batman games, ALL LEGO games and Injustice: Gods among us for WiiU. Might get it for PC in a few years if I bother to upgrade it. William Martinez This sadly is ruining more and more the image of the console for future buyers…. i hope this situation change because Wii U is great <3 Aleksander Why am i not suprised? jhell lazy developer Petri This laziness, aka greed is going to be the theme of this generation. Now there is 3 platforms, that they can do almost 1 on 1 ports quickly. the platform it is being developed first, will be the definitive edition, while other platforms get (barely noticeable) sloppy ports. This worries me as a PC gamer, since we might not see much past console limits. ben I think as a PC gamer you are the people who will benefit the most. PS4 and xbox games are going to be like the PC on its lowest setting. Petri Seeing the track record of last gen, it makes me worried that console games gets shoveled to PC. Only thing I was hoping out of this generation, was 8 core processing, but seeing as devs cant (?) use more than 3 or 4 cores (same kind of limitations with ram), the specs are only a sales pitch, and we will only get games we had last gen with prettier graphics. asdfg Based on how 3rd party games are selling on Wii U, I wouldn’t say the problem here is laziness fliadaloisio This game is “skipping” the PS3, PS4, 360, Xbox One & PC. 😀 The Clockwork Being Well it is a first party game. With all the greatest JRPG devs on board; most of the great people that were at Square Soft are on board. Really, really excited for this game. Guest http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jP2CG_ZpxJA/T5m-b05o72I/AAAAAAAAPhs/SMvCehhMcW8/s1600/brokenrecord.jpg TrueGamer Awesome! Too bad it’ll sell poorly. 🙁 http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_content_width/hash/ef/85/ef85229744a09f6f3b93391089f9368a.jpg?itok=yAK_Yb_n URFTBOUND4LIFE . Could you at least make the tears and frown believable on Yoshi’s face? jrob23 who cares. If you get to play it will you lose sleep because it sold poorly? If so, you have problems oontz And the majority of people who are not die hard jrpg fans could care less. SkullScience That is like saying many people who are not Batman fans (especially after the last effort) could care less about B:AK missing Wii U. I have always seen the Wii U as a different beast from the other 2. The Wii missed out on a ton of games released on 360 and PS3. Didn’t mean it was a failure. The fact that they do their own thing means owning both (be it XB1/PC/PS4 with Wii U) is more fun. After the serious news about Sony’s financial situation last month it seems that all the major brands are getting bad press of late (does MS ever get good press?). oontz “That is like saying many people who are not Batman fans (especially after the last effort) could care less about B:AK missing Wii U” Not like saying.. it’s exactly the same. That’s the point I was trying to make to the original poster. “To suggest that any true gamer only owns one machine is naïve at best” I agree and never suggested otherwise. Even though I own a wiiu I seriously have no interest in “X” none what so ever. I also own a PS4 and game on many other different platforms as well. If someone can only afford one platform its a great injustice to make that the wiiu… but again that’s just my opinion. zajac1661 I actually like the last Batman game. It is sad that the few third party developers the WiiU has/had… leaves. People in the comment sections act like ” like we ever cared” But i definitly care. I think it is utterly sad, that Nintendo suffers on this behalf. And i really wonder why the sales on the third party games has been so bad on the WiiU. AC black flag and the new splinter sell sold/sells like crap and i really find it odd. This will end up with a libary of only nintendo 1st party titles, indie and showelware. The WiiU has to few exclusives, and the time between the releases (thinking of the libary) is way to slow. I speak as a buyer on release of the console, and after finishing and buying almost every major third and first party release, the console only got turned on because of netflix. SkullScience A bit like the Wii then! To be fair, I do agree with you. I own many third party titles including Batman AO and Splinter Cell. They are both technically very good titles for the Wii U. But it seems many Wii U owners do not buy third party games for whatever reason, this, in one regard, means they are the authors of their own demise as Wii U supporters. However, there were many half-assed third part titles released which people refused to buy, also games released 6 months later so you already owned the game on 360/PS3. So it seems to be a problematic catch 22. Third party stutters due to poor sales but there are poor sales due to poor, inferior or late third party titles. Lose/Lose. zajac1661 Well. The WiiU never hit the Wii success. If you ask me, it’s way more suited to join the “next gen” shared console market. I understand the ps3/xbox ownage on the sideline. Injustice, Batman, mass effect, RE revelations, NFS, Darksiders are great games and third pary releases. I find it hard not to think that alot of owners never played theese titles on other consoles. The sales are very poor, and the support is fleeing at a fast rate. I would never walk around as a owner, buying no games trying to explain that theese games are bad investments/shitty ports as a reason. Because they certainly are not. At least not as dramaticly as some people state. a very little stone on the way to the store. There would be no big reason for me to own this console, if the third party support is lost fully. Either nintendo need to step up game development with faster 1st party releases and online gaming… or it simply just will be a dust collector Christopher Acuna Nintendo in general is a different beast. Stephen Macneil I made this point already. If they’re not going to be building lower ports to PS3 or 360 they’re not going to do it for the Wii U. This was built from the ground up on much more powerful consoles. I’ll be buying it on PS4 anyway, but this is a sign if the times going forward. Nintendo built the wii u for first party anyway, which is what I bought it for. oontz Exactly, well said Deadpool U Well Asylum and City were some of my favorite games so I think I’ll lay down and cry a little bit. http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/rain-crying.gif Gameonfool Why no oh well Screamin Mime Batmanned out anyway. Gameonfool Every time I try to reply to big frankly it doesn’t work for some reason so I will say to him that he is wrong. For starters the wii u sold allot of its numbers in the first year the other two will have a slow down too also with kart and smash this summer the wii u will shift some followed by titles like x etc would be a good time to have some 3rd party titles in place. And it is perceived audience not just numbers otherwise the wii would have had more support as it always had a larger install base. NkoSekirei we cant count out nintendo this year anyway with plenty of big titles coming out for the wii u this year oontz Not that many big titles really, a few but not plenty. Dell Goodman It is sad that companies are just skipping last gen and moving into the next gen (not counting the Wii U in this case). A lot of people like myself haven’t yet jumped to the PS4 or Xbox One, and most likely won’t till either they release good games for them, or till the Wii U gets a very long dry spell for game releases. I wonder how the console war would’ve been like if Nintendo released the Wii U with the strengths of the PS4 and Xbox One. Would it had seen more on it’s plate, would it had sold more, or would people still downplay the console because of the Wii’s image. J_Joestar It is definitely the image that hurts the system more than anything else. Just like the Bayo2 article mentioned before. RedChu I keep telling myself that everything’s gonna be alright and that the Wii U will pick back up, but honestly I just can’t see it anymore. It’s a good console for first-party games and exclusives, but for third-party support you’ll definitely have to look elsewhere. Deep down, I always knew this, but I just didn’t want to buy another console or build my gaming PC right away. jrob23 agreed. It’s why I sold my Wii U. Makes more sense to get one again once a larger library of 1st party titles is out plus a price drop. This is the first game from a 3rd party that I honestly feel should be coming to the Wii U but isn’t. I held out hope for as long as possible Kenshin0011 That doesn’t make any sense, unless someone was stupid enough to buy your used wii u off of you for the original price you paid. Since that’s probably not the case, you lost money, especially if you’re apparently planning to buy one AGAIN once more 1st party is available. News flash: There is a lot of first party out right now and before the years end were getting MK8, Super Smash, Bayonetta 2, X, and Hyrule Warriors. Either you’re severely stupid or your lying. NkoSekirei like i said selling a console over lack of third party games is stupid that why some people have multi consoles and i wasnt to sure about this new batman game after origin flaws but still like the storyline and the bosses oontz I will never sell my wiiu, I am more than happy using it just to play Nintendo games. For everything else I have my ps4. It’s really the best combo you could have. Joey Me too never selling my Wii U i got alot of games but do not have a PS4 yet but planning on getting one later this fall, i mostly wanted it for racing games and some other games if new LittleBigPlanet comes out. oontz I just have yet to see a return on my investment. So I’ll hold onto it a bit longer and enjoy some more gams first, before thinking of selling it. Marcus Larsson He’ll probably get more money then what the wii u will cost two-three years from now. So for now he can take that money and spend on other things. Makes sense Kenshin0011 Doubtful Charles Caldwell Who didn’t see this coming? I don’t own a batman game, was going to get armored edition, but not anymore. they obviously don’t want my money, and they don’t care. Marcus Larsson Because you didnt bring the money in the first place, smartass Charles Caldwell You’re comment is very productive. You must be awesome! Mitch Hall Honestly, the main reason that many third-party games aren’t coming to the Wii U is that they simply WOULDN’T SELL. This is evidenced by the fact that games like Assassin’s Creed IV, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Deus Ex: HR (among others) have sold abysmally on the Wii U. I mean, how many people would really choose to buy something like The Crew or Destiny on the Wii U? Most Wii U owners tend to own other consoles as well, so what’s the point? I’m not saying that I’m happy about this, I’m just saying that I understand why the Wii U is constantly overlooked by third-party studios. That said, I’m perfectly happy with my purchase of the system due to the exclusives (the main reason why people buy Nintendo consoles in the first place.) Gabe Hoffman Well have you ever thought how many of those games were gimped or late ports on Wii U? Marcus Larsson Focus on the ones that werent bad ports, how come they didnt sell? Thats the real answer for everyone dropping out or at best releasing a cheap port Petri The real question would be, why would they have sold? I suspect many Wii U gamers game on at least 2 platforms. Show me a port, that wasn’t either very late (as good quality port of NFS:MW), missing features (like huge list of games) or just wasnt more expensive (Deus Ex HR). Marcus Larsson Watch dogs is a title that is late and will still sell, so “the late”-preference wont hold. Yeah well we have zombieu and those exclusives, that didnt sell that well, w101 etc. But youre right, most people with a wii u owns another console and would likely buy the ports for the other one. With that said, why in the hell would a third party sacrifice money on a wii u? Petri Answer is about the same as, why would Wii U owner buy half baked port? Endless circle. “Watch dogs is a title that is late and will still sell, so “the late”-preference wont hold.” You mean it will still sell on other platforms? Probably, but only Wii U version was delayed even further, so there is no saying that those who initially wanted it for Wii U, wont get it for ps360 or PC. Think there is no official announcement of sales of w101, so if we trust on vgchartz, I have no idea why it sold so low, I think it is a great game. Zombi U initially sold to 1/4th of the whole install base within 3 months, though it is not much when you consider the size of the install base. And if Ubisoft claims that was not profit, they must have had a lot of paid sleepers working on it. Don’t get me wrong, even with all the game breaking bugs and glitches, it was a fun game, but felt like a game that could have been made as 2 man garage project. Now, as for why, maybe some people would have hoped to do all their gaming on Wii U, and retire their old gen consoles, but would you really buy inferior game for you next gen system, if you could play it first, better version, with all the features and for cheaper on your last gen system? I did and will, but I have my reasons. Mitch Hall Yes, many of them were lazy ports, but that’s kind of beside the point. ACE Wii U is garbage i have one and this console is just garbage Kenshin0011 You’re muff cabbage! Joey Not garbage, your brain is garbage NkoSekirei ur garbage dude asdfg Someone’s mad ACE i have defended nintendo But this it was the last straw that broke the camel’s back SkullScience Ditch it and let someone else enjoy it then. Plenty of places will let you trade it! metalpants I don’t see how. I use mine every day WAY more than any of my other devices combined. If any console is garbage, it would have to be PS4 and X1. The full gist of the current generation of games will be found in the Wii U + PC combo. PS4/X1 are just a couple of cheap excuses for a PC. If you want the full “next-gen” experience, you’d invest in a nice rig (heck, even a normal rig nowadays probably surpasses both of those consoles). And then you’d have Wii U for all the things none of those systems will ever get. Jonathan George Anaya The PS4 doesn’t hide the fact that it’s a midrange PC. But, the X1 tries to go beyond the polygon counts. MS envisions an Apple-like presence in the living room, with the Xbox being front and center. Next Gen games? Check. Apps? Check. TV? Duh. The Xbox does Everything and more, because it combines all forms of Entertainment. Have you see the Cortana they’re adding to Windows and Xbox? Soon, MS will release a Holodeck and they’ll have another monopoly on their hands! oontz The ps4 is a gaming machine, and a great one at that. It’s not trying to do many things half assed like the xb1. It does one thing very well, and that is running and playing games. Which so far it has been successful in doing a much better job than the xb1. Daniel Gonzalez Not to mention in higher demand than Xb1. That all in one media center sure isn’t catching anyone’s eye. oontz 6 million PS4s sold to date. Not to bad for launching in November 2013. Daniel Gonzalez Not even 4 months in. I call that impressive. oontz Very metalpants That doesn’t really matter when it comes to a game conversation. My point from the beginning was that PC will offer pretty much every major 3rd party game released on those two, but better. While Wii U will offer experiences than none of those other platforms will have. So when you think about it, the most complete gaming experience in terms of getting the most varied selection of games and gameplay styles, is Wii U + PC. Just presenting another side of the coin… not trying to convince anybody to not get the other systems… Brandon Come on now the xbox one and ps4 definitly dont suck. Those games both have games that pc and wii u dont get either. metalpants Not my point. I’m referring to the overall picture. PS4/X1 wouldn’t be what they are if not for diehard fans and the industry (which is full of them). These systems are stuck in some middle point where they’re neither the best nor the worst… just… there. The industry itself just keeps pushing them and making games for them even if they’re failing (Xbox One) because they like to dictate what we should play. Most of the stuff in those consoles will be on PC… and better. So *technically* there’s no point in owning either of them. Brandon I understand there not perfect, but I can sure as hell tell you its alot better then wii u. Im not talking about software im talking about hardware and UI. There is games that are worth playing that are not coming to wii u and pc, and there an upgrade from last gen that will last you another 6-7years. metalpants Being better than Wii U is completely irrelevant. All these systems are better than 3DS, and that little thing is brimming with success far beyond all of them at the moment. UI is debatable. I prefer Gamepad touchscreen integration (typing this from my Gamepad right now) a thousand times more than some big rectangular “social” button in the middle of the controller or a soul-tracking webcam. The OSs on both PS4 and X1 seem like you’re entering some big corporation that advertises everything they can find, while the Wii U OS is simple and straight to the point (although DEFINITELY not perfect. There’s a lot to add/improve IMO, but it’s on the right track). I agree that there’s interesting exclusives on each of those platforms, but I still think people need to wake up. PS4/X1 are a waste… they’re not truly innovative. They’re basically HD 2.0 machines that are neither revolutionary nor pioneering. Both are playing it safe… heck, they share almost the EXACT same architecture… which was easily surpassed by gaming PCs over a year ago. It’s silly how people glorify these safe-bet, me-too, middle-range PCs AND think they are actually incredibly powerful and relevant just because they’re from “Sony” or “Microsoft”. *Facepalm* too much ignorance for my poor brain to take. Brandon Ps4 and xbox one are not perfect I can agree on that but there not trash and they are better then the wii u. UI on those consoles are so much better then wii u and there predecessors. Getting these consoles is not that much of a waste, but buying later on is a bettter choice if your waiting for the exclusives. But if someone had a choice of the three they most likely go with ps4 or xbox. Not saying the wii u sucks its just not as good and its stupid when people compare ps4 and xbox to a pc and call them weak, so wouldnt that mean the wii u is super weak. Its a good thing the two have a similar architecture, because it makes it easier for devs. metalpants It’s like I’m talking to a wall… you don’t get my point at all. Have fun with your console of choice. oontz The ps4 is not garbage… It’s a solid game machine. metalpants So is the Wii U… what’s your point? oontz I never said the wiiu was garbage, I own one and enjoy it. I also own a ps4 and enjoy that too. metalpants That’s great. I never said you said that either… I was just asking what was your point. But all good. As long as whatever game system you have gives you fun times, it’s all good. oontz Exactly gamers should love games regardless of platform. SkullScience The troll is strong with this one! To be fair, I find it kind of funny you would buy a console and then find it garbage! You would think you would do your research first. And if you have one, and think it is garbage, just trade it in so someone who would appreciate it can own it unlike some whining little snotbag like you! ACE Selling my Wii U for $125 i dont care if i lost money on this, Nintendo wont have my money anymore Joey Your not a Nintendo fan i guess, nothing wrong having more then 1 consoles. NkoSekirei selling a console over this is plain stupid that why people have multi consoles(facepalm) Joey yup just as i thought your not a Nintendo fan first party games i really don’t care for alot 3rd party games such as first person shooters but racing games is what i like just depends what games i like playing such as Zelda, Sonic, Mario, Rayman Legends, Pikmin3 etc..are all fun games. I also have a PS3 which is mostly for Racing games and some other platform games as well. D-Man I am a huge fan of both the Batman games. I have both for PS3, and I must say that they are nothing less than stellar. Nintendo fanboys are here complaining saying “It wasn’t good (Origins) anyway,”. Personally, I am a fan of it, but this new game is the first next-gen entry into the Arkham series, and it’s being developed by Rocksteady again! It’s going to kick ass! For you Nintendo fanboys, maybe if we (I own a Wii U) actually supported the companies when they released the launch games, they would have been encouraged to release more. But it’s also Nintendo’s duty to sell the consoles to not only the third parties, but the consumers as well. TheRealTruthTeller not really, ABBBABBABBBBA is not my kind of gameplay, these games are generic at best ACE generic ? generic is donkey kong tropical freeze D-Man Have you actually played and completed any of the games? And ABBBABBABBBBA is more like Mario gameplay. oontz “ABBBABBABBBBA” Sounds like Mario 3d world to me. TheRealTruthTeller guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuize, im just saying, just because i dont like any of the batman games (i barely like City, but thats it) it doesnt mean you have to be such meanies, its not a good game, my opinion, deal with it oontz It’s fine to have an opinion, it’s not fine to try and imply that “ABBBABBABBBBA” Is all the game amounts to. As other’s have said it’s a better reflection to the gameplay found in SM3DW, than say Batman. FIreproof_actual another nail in the coffin… Jayden But, but the gamepad was such a cool feature with Arkam City. Oh well. C.S. Bailey It’s getting to a point where we don’t need to know every new game coming out that won’t come to the Wii U. Just make a list and update it every two weeks. Mwgly Well, if its on pc, why would i need it on a gaming console anyway? Logan Waltz What? U want me to download ur games for free on PC? Okay. oontz If you pirate games for free than you sir are part of the problem. nexxus6 Here is my dream: WB eventually releases all 4 Arkham titles on the WiiU as an Ultimate Collection, or something of that nature. It’s just a dream, I know reality is a harsh reminder of how crazy dreams can be. Moreck *Yawn* Oh well; I’m tired of this series anyway. They should’ve just left it at 3 games. Petri I think they should have left it to just 2. Will the3rd I think the people that says “crappy game” or things like that is… I mean, we are talking about a game that comes to eeeeveryconsole, it’s not about the game. It is about Nintendo only having Nintendo games (and developers they pay) and again, don’t be so fanboy or fool to say “well, yes, that’s what I want” because who doesn’t want a GTA for a Nintendo console? And it’s not about GTA or this or the other, it’s about offer. I like Batman games, I won’t buy MK8. I’m a bad person? No, but the thing is about offer, about catalogue, not for me because I’m not buying every game they release, I can even change for the first time of my life to another console, it’s about Nintendo, about having profits instead of losses and not releasing the new console in 2 years. They need offer, and for that they need third parties. Really bad and sad news, we almost can confirm WiiU will only have first party games… (and I say almost because of my fanboysism, so I’m so fool that I’m giving it even another opportunity). ben I don’t want GTA on Nintendo. I am one of the strange, rare people who don’t get much joy from shooting people and having sex with virtual hookers. oontz Yeah because that is what the entire game is about. ben Well, it may have more to it than that, however, I don’t find have much interest in it. Can’t I have that opinion? Just because it goes against what you say doesnt mean I am not allowed an opinion. You said you don’t want MK8. I bought the console for the Nintendo games and the Japanese games. I don’t like most western developed games, however, I like race games so I hope that project cars is good on the WII U. oontz Ummm I never said I didn’t want Mario kart. I am l actually looking forward to it. ben I don’t care about western third parties cause most of their games are just overrated. I don’t care for games where I have to hide behind a box, they are just not my cup of tea. if I wanted those sort of games I wouldnt have bought a Nintendo wii u, I would have bought a PS3/4. Third party games that appeal to the Nintendo market are few and far between, this is why third parties give up on Nintendo. Basically Companies have to have a Nintendo philosophy to make games for a Nintendo system. I could argue the same for any system. Wishing for the type of games that release on PS or Xbox is kind of stupid. Nintendo customers who want these types of choices, however vocal on the internet, are the minority of Nintendo owners. Hence the terrible sales figures on those types of games. Will the3rd I want MK8, I won’t buy it or even look at it but I want it. That’s my point: diversity, that we can choose. My comment came to say: Say yes when they announce MK8, but don’t say “I don’t need/want that game” when a publisher says they’re widening the catalogue of a rival without considering WiiU, because it’s ridiculous fanboy and it may lead that in the duture you can’t enjoy games from third party that you like, let’s say AC, CoD (… xD), ok, or good games: Dragon Quest, Kingdom Heart, for example. oontz Maybe some people on here don’t realize that this game, if made to run on the wiiu would not reflect the developers true vision for it. It’s also not coming to ps3 or xbox360, two systems that are closer in spec to the wiiu. Developers can easily program for PC, ps4 and xb1 as they all share the same x86 architecture. Developing for the wiiu requires a different team getting the game optimized to run properly on the wiiu’s different hardware. This also makes it a business decision… What developer is going to spend extra money coding the game for wiiu when they won’t even see a return on their investment. Sadly as more and more next gen games are released, the ports for ps3, Xbox360 and wiiu will slowly dry up to the point where there are no ports released at all. But judging from the sales numbers of 3rd party games on the wiiu so far, I guess the majority of wiiu owners really don’t care if they get these games or not. Petri If by “vision” you mean couple more particle effects, better reflection, sharper shadows and you know, other graphical crap, then you could be right. Except that this game is coming to PC. When talking about PC gaming, people automatically assumes it is for graphics whores with +1000$ gaming rigs. But truth of the matter is, there is large portion of gaming PC’s, that are less powerful or as powerful as Wii U. And when making a PC game, you pretty much have to make the game playable with low end gaming rigs. I doubt we will even see games this generation, that would not be possible to port on Wii U, without taking away core elements. Or if we do, it will be to very late to this gen, and if Wii U does not pick up, Nintendos next console might be out as soon as 3 to 4 years. Anything else, is pretty much correct, Wii U is the red haired bastard child with different gene pool, and will get shanked for the sake of maximizing profits. And developers are moving away from last gen, though I would not be surprised if we see games getting announced for this gen, then downgraded to last gen, because those install bases are huge. I dont really blame Wii U owners for not buying inferior and late ports, as I expect most gamers to have another console or PC as well. oontz “And when making a PC game, you pretty much have to make the game playable with low end gaming rigs.” No not always, many top tier AAA PC games have minimum system requirements that require most users to upgrade their rigs to be able to run and play. Sure games are scalable but to what extent is up to the developer. Petri Sure, but most games, I suspect this game will as well, will support even 2 core processor and the lower tier (100-150$) gaming graphics cards. Sure there are games that require more from PC, but those are usually either exclusive, or watered down on consoles. oontz So as a wiiu owner would you be content with a watered down port of Batman Arkam Knight? Cause I personally wouldn’t. Just as I would upgrade my rig to play the game the way the developer intended it to be played. If it’s not possible on the wiiu, then it shouldn’t be on the wiiu. Petri If difference is few pixels and some particle effects, I could be. Not every PC gamer has a powerhouse PC either. Decent PC can already blow away consoles on that front. So console gaming should be canned all together, and everyone should play games on +1000$ gaming PC’s then? It doesn’t really matter how developer want’s the game to be, but how end user wants to play it. Even though I spend a lot on my PC, I am not a graphics whore, and I do understand, that some people have more of an limited budget. I mainly like Wii U, because of what gampead adds to some games, and that I can play games on it off-tv. If they had to take out core elements, that affect play-ability, then it should not be made for that platform. But I doubt we will see that kind of games for some time. But my guess is that this decision was because of money, not consoles power. Jonathan George Anaya And this is why I got a X1 as my primary console… LJay Who gives a crap, they should try finishing the last one first. oontz Well seeing as they didn’t make the last one… Not sure what your point is. DragonSilths Fuck Warner Bros. That’s all I can say. TrueGamer I’d rather not… http://alltheragefaces.com/img/usercreated/505c9c47adf95.png Decker Shado The perception: The game comes to PC, PS4 and XBO. Not Wii U, so PS4 and XBO made a good choice being X86. My thoughts: Why the hell would I get it on PS4 or XBO when my old ass PC can already run it better than either of those? So I can enjoy paying for multiplayer? What would make me buy it on either: Use of the unique features of the consoles that make it fun, and give an experience I can’t get on PC. Advantage: Xbox One. (Kinect 2) Why this won’t happen: Developers are lazy cunts these days. Example: No Arkham Knight on Wii U. oontz Ummm no. Decker Shado Immature? Perhaps. Incorrect? That depends. Perhaps you are fine being given buggy, poorly optimized products by such “hard workers” – but I don’t quite appreciate that. So perhaps I do moan, just as if you kick me in the balls I don’t particularly like it, and my scream in pain. Not all developers are this bad, and indeed sometimes their hands are forced by publishers, but the end result is the same. Low quality products. Though in many ways PC gaming is becoming more convenient than console gaming, because of this. When Skyrim came out on PS3, how long did everyone have to wait for Bethesda to fix it? While on PC, not only did it run better from the start, but modders fixed a lot of the bugs themselves. I’m of the opinion that in both scenarios, bethesda released an unfinished product, and should not be respected for that. Respect is earned, and your actions determine your reputation. You don’t want me insulting developers? They’ll have to release something that properly works once in a while. oontz “Immature? Perhaps” Not perhaps… definitely. “Perhaps you are fine being given buggy, poorly optimized products” People are not “given” anything. People buy things with money. If they don’t see value in something then they don’t buy it. That doesn’t give anyone the right to call an entire work force “lazy cunts” as you so elegantly put it. Developers work endless hours trying to give US the gaming public a piece of media to spend our personal hours enjoying. It’s kinda telling that out of all the gaming sites I visit, nintendo sites are the ones where people are constantly calling developers lazy… constantly. “Low quality products” If you feel all you get are low quality products then why not take up a different pastime? “in many ways PC gaming is becoming more convenient than console gaming” This made me laugh because in NO way is pc gaming becoming more convenient or will ever be convenient. People cannot go out buy a PC take it home plug it in, insert a game disc and start playing. “bethesda released an unfinished product, and should not be respected for that. Respect is earned, and your actions determine your reputation.” So one buggy title negates the developers entire library of released games? Seriously? “You don’t want me insulting developers? They’ll have to release something that properly works once in a while.” You act as though every single game ever released is shit. If this is really how you feel why do you even buy software? Whats the point in constantly complaining? Get over it. Bugs in software happen… and yes even bugs in Nintendo software happens. Decker Shado Skyrim on PS3 was just one example. One of Bethesda. If you believe that is the only buggy title or piece of software Bethesda is responsible for, I’ve got a bridge to sell you in New York. Though I think I get what you’re saying. I can be perfectly happy with the state of gaming, if all I do is lower my standards! oontz “One of Bethesda. If you believe that is the only buggy title or piece of software Bethesda is responsible for, I’ve got a bridge to sell you in New York” Never said that I believe that… “I can be perfectly happy with the state of gaming, if all I do is lower my standards!” If that’s how you feel than cool, for me I am usually blown away by the experiences the gaming medium provides me. Connor Devlin I would say “why?” if I cared. GregoryTheRainMaker http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma8vroNOT71qdgmu2o2_500.gif Ash Saba i have not touch my wii u since i got it been waiting on mk8 since i first bought it kinda wish i did not get the wii u now 🙁 taken too long Umjereni This really is bad news. I’m not really willing to buy another console just to have access to games which are skipping the wii u but it seems that the wii u is really doomed. MarioKart will probably be a fun game, but I don’t see really the point in buying a console for 5-10 games. Peter Rogers Nintendo bosses really should read all the comments in this section. This is a site for wii u owners and nintendo fans. However 95% of the comments are super negative. Something serious needs to be done and quick. I have a wii u and bought it on launch day. Honestly… ive hardly touched it. 1st party titles need to come quicker as that is where nintendo will succeed. If they dont speed up those releases for example…ZELDA, more people will defect to other consoles. Wake up 4 fucks sake… before its 2 late!!! LukeMM95 I think it’s time Nintendo got a replacement for Iwata. I don’t have anything against the guy and he has done some good. It’s just that he seems to think the gaming industry is no different than what is was in the 90s. We need someone new who can bring in some fresh ideas and make Nintendo a more marketable brand. I still have hopes for the Wii U but only because the hardware may lead to some memorable exclusive games. 3rd party support is a really dark area at the moment. Fingers crossed, the Wii U version of Watch Dogs will be good. GmailIsDown just wait until microsoft sells off its xbox division (as their xbox division is losing billions each year) and sony goes bankrupt (as it is losing billions across the entire company!). and then nintendo can buy both xbox and playstation with its mountain of cash and dominate again. if you don’t believe me google it yourself. it is not only nintendo that is struggling with the console business. Goku123 Wow I was really looking forward to this game 🙁 really made me mad. My PC screen is to small to play this on! Goku123 As far as I know Origins wasn’t announced for the Wii U either. So it may be possible that we get it 🙂 Ryan Fanus If the Wii U keeps losing third-party titles like this I fear it will soon lose the console race. Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog i know who the New Villain Arkham Knight is someone please ask who he is. if you know it already say it LukeMM95 It’s been almost a week since the last Wii U news update. What’s going on?
