While not exactly Nintendo news as the platform being targeted is Xbox One, it looks like a new Banjo-Kazooie game may be in the works. The above image shows off some of the franchises Microsoft has confirmed for the Xbox One. This also includes the Halo: Spartan Assault title that was confirmed for PC and Windows Phone 8, giving the image some authenticity.

Banjo-Kazooie is a much beloved Nintendo 64 title, so if Rare is crafting a new adventure for Microsoft, will you be getting on board the Microsoft train? Let us know in the comments.

  • The True Gamer

Actually Halo: spartan assault is windows 8 and windows phone 8 exclusive. It is not for Xbox One

    • Seth Callahan

Good point. Can’t wait to try it on my Lumia!

      • Ace J

i want to get a lumia too. cant wait for sprint to hurry up and get it

        • Seth Callahan

I have the 920 and am loving it. Though, at times, I feel like I’m supporting the underdogs, namely Wii U and Windows Phone 8, there are some high quality experiences to be had. Will try this Halo game, but I bet it doesn’t come close to Nano Assault Neo!

          • Ace J

i feel the same way too. It seems Windows phones doesn’t get good quality support when it comes to apps

    • Changed my wording a bit note that, thanks.

    • Pikachief

I have a feeling that they might announce it for XB1 later and that they’re just saying its Windows 8 exclusive so that they can have more to announce at E3. It wouldn’t make sense not to have a Halo Twinstick Shooter as one of their first XBLA arcade XB1 titles.

  • Nintendofreak

well if rare didnt started making shit since they joined microsoft ( banjo nuts n bolts, the weird kid game ( not the name i dont know it), the lame conker remake n etc) i would care

  • miiandmario

    Could be

  • Jon

why is this posted on Wii U daily? Shouldn’t it be put on to Xboxone daily?

    • Kris

Sadly its probably because there is little to report about Nintendo and Nintendo may not get these titles anymore.

      • Cloud Windfoot Omega

we already knew that though. Its not really news.

      • Jon

Nintendo hasn’t gotten a banjo Kazooie title since the N64…. So us not getting these titles is old news.

  • Clel

Why so much Xbox One news on Wii U daily?

    • I posted this because Banjo-Kazooie started out as a Nintendo title, despite Microsoft owning Rare now.

      • Clel

But this is still WII U daily, not N64 daily XD

        • Guest

Really I don’t see the big deal, Ashley obviously posted this to keep people informed of what the compettition might be doing. And you would be suprised at how many people on here love Banjo&Kazooie but may not go to Xbox One daily to see that it might be coming out. (note she says at the bottom will you be getting on the Microsoft train because of this clearly reporting something and seeing what people think) If you don’t like an article she writes then move along but don’t gripe because an author reports gaming news that could effect the Wii U and it doesn’t fit the criteria that you think it should fit. If you don’t like it ok but don’t complain about something small like this.

          • Off.Sh

i want to see a Mario article on Xboxone daily, sure, as a competitor. doesnt match?, here neither.

          • Clel

SERIOUSLY?? I’m complaining? I was just commenting that there’s been quite a bit of Xbox One news on Wii U Daily. Of course I understand, I mean why not? It’s nice of Ashley to even bother to write another article for us. I appreciate it. Little would you know that I am one of the upvoters of her reply -.-

You read too much into what I wrote.

        • RockGod

Some of us really loved the original 2 games and we like to keep up to date on how badly MS is destroying one of our most beloved N64 franchises…
It really does stink that Nintendo couldn’t get the rights at least to the N64 titles.

  • Gabe Hoffman

Even if it is Banjo, I have a high feeling from that it could end up being kinectified from that title

    • MTGSWE

Yes. It’s title is clearly to rival Nintendo Land. It’s a theme park powered with kinect 😛

      • Gabe Hoffman

Sometimes I wish Nintendo would buy back Banjo. The only reason Microsoft put Banjo Kazooie on XBLA was just so they could troll Nintendo on how they can’t have any Rare titles other than Donkey Kong Country on Virtual Console

        • MTGSWE

Yeah. I’m actually on the fence to buy Banjo Kazooie on n64 from an auction site here in Sweden. I got a Nintendo 64 a couple of days ago from the same place. 😀

          • Alexander Kleinwechter

I live also in sweden, do you know where i can get an nintendo 64 and some games for it

          • MTGSWE

            All swedish sites 🙂

          • RockGod

I actually still own my Banjo Kazooie cartridge and N64, but sadly my copy of Banjo Tooie was stolen. These are both amazing games and I highly recommend them.

          • MTGSWE

Then I will get it when i have the money for it 😀 Luckily there are many copies floating around on auction sites. 😛

          • RockGod

That’s good to hear. I understand some retro titles can cost a fortune nowadays!

          • MTGSWE

Yep. Like Earthbound and Conkers Bad Fur Day. 😛
At least where I live 😛

        • ItzameyaToad

That and the fact that many Xbox gamers(BK fans) where beating Rares doors down to release them lol

        • JWHO

Its ok nintendo will come up with something better they have the talent

          • Thomas Fitzgibbon

            Two words – ‘Retro Studios’.

        • sdmac200600

They tried but Microsoft said no and this is probably just a way to rub it in Nintendo’s faces because I can bet anything they weren’t gonna do shit with the banjo-kazooie franchise before Nintendo asked for it.

          • Nintyfan

The old Rare is gone anyways. Knowing Microsoft they’ll just mess this game up. There isn’t anyone who has worked on the older games that are left in Rare.

Nintendo has Retro now which is like the new “Rare”.

          • sdmac200600

I wasn’t saying Nintendo was trying to buy back rare. I was saying they tried to buy the banjo-kazooie franchise from microsoft because they weren’t doing shit with it. It’s very sad that microsoft pretty much forced all the great devs to leave because their time there wasn’t going anywhere.

        • Madmagican

There was a couple rumors a few weeks ago about Nintendo trying to buy back Rare but being unsuccessful
this Xbone game is probably Microsoft rubbing it in their faces

        • Nicolas Dorion

nintendo tried they tried and they tried again. microsoft doesn’t give a fuck. they bought rare, they bought banjo, they keep it.

      • Gabe Hoffman

Just a Kinect mini game compilation with Banjo slapped on it just like Nut and Bolts was a car building game with Banjo slapped on the front

        • MTGSWE

Exactly. Well I don’t get my hopes up. Never really played the series, but to change from a plattformer to a car building game. No just no. 😛

      • Josiah Parsons

        but with extra gruntiness!

    • howling_wolf1334:[

I dont know man… Is Banjo Kazooie… I want this game so badly that I couldnt resist the temptation to buy the Xbone!!! :(…

    • mikel334u2

Keep in mind that it might not be Kinectified. It kind of bothers me that Nintendo fans think that Microsoft doesn’t “deserve” the BK franchise. I think Microsoft needs a franchise like this to compete with Nintendo and Sony, as it doesn’t have any good, kid-friendly exclusives to compete with Nintendo or Sony.

  • Dave_Val

Depends of how good the game will be. Remember that this Rare is not the same whom worked with Nintendo years ago. So first show the game and then we can decide if the Xbox One could be a good option beside mi WiiU

  • excuse me while I slowly slit my throat.. if this rumor is true :'(

  • ItzameyaToad

It might sway me or help me wrap my mind around buying Xbox One IF the new Banjo and Kazooie has what I feel is the BK charm that made the BK games so great. Gameplay footage of the game/trailer is a must for me because until I see that the Rare team has what it takes to replicate and or bring the series back to it’s roots then I am skeptical that this will be a “Must Have” game. Afterall we must remember that the team at Rare right now is not the full team of people who brought us BK 1 & 2. If anything it is a few people who helped develope BK 1&2 and the rest new devs,so we should not expect an exact experience that the series originally had but who knows maybe some of the older Rare team that Developed BK are still there helping with the new game. If that is the case and the game goes back to it’s root’s then yes I will buy an Xbox One or the decision to buy it will be easyier.

    • Andreas Sunde

Rare has one of the original guys left. One. And he was not high up in the golden days.
      Remember Nuts&Bolts.

      • ItzameyaToad

Well IMO One guy that perhaps remembers how they did thing’s is better than none(unlikely he will help much). I rember Nuts&Bolts, I thought it was alright but did BK a disservice. But remember almost all of the Original Rare team worked on Nuts&Bolts and many factors went in to them making it revolve around Vehichles.

If you want to hear why N&B was made the way it was here is a video of the Game Grumps with the ex-Rare music composer Grant Kirkhope(if you want to hear where he talks about N&B it’s more towards the end of the video 58:00 I think)

Overall though I think it will be awesome if they can bring out a new BK game that is true to it’s roots but Im not holding my breath.

  • Rafael Saldana

Star Fox Adventures, Perfect Dark and Goldeneye were my favorite Rare games but Rare doesn’t make games like they used to because of different developers and they’re extremely slow at making them that’s why Nintendo sold them years ago, I like Retro Studios way better

    • ItzameyaToad

Personally I think Nintendo made a mistake selling them due to all the Great IP’s they had, and slow working time shouldn’t have been a factor of selling a studio if the product’s they push out are quality. Imagine if Nintendo hadn’t sold Rare, Retro and Rare could collabe and make an awesome game, and we could have awesome characters like BK in Smash Bros.

    • Norfair20X5

One of the main reasons many people consider Retro Studios to be the new Rare for The Big N. I agree especially due to Donkey Kong Country Returns making me realize that Retro built a better game off of one of Rare’s best work.

      • ItzameyaToad

Also look at the fact that some of the old Rare team are with Retro Studios now.

        • Norfair20X5

          Indeed, sir, indeed.

  • ancientgamer

nope still not buying that microtransactioner, i dont like being robbed, dont mind being watched, but only if it was some cute ladies lol. there isn’t much that will convince me to get another microsoft console unless they stop charging for every little thing that nintendo offers for free!

  • Garbage02

Microsoft´s Current RARE stinks, ´cause don´t you remember what they did to the glorious Perfect Dark game 🙁 that sequel… what a shame..so i guess will be the same with Banjo Kazooie…

    • ItzameyaToad

That was the original Rare team that did the Perfect Dark sequel…

      • Christopher Acuna

they did good of job screwing that game HARD

  • El pudiente

the banjo kazooi fans are not with microsoft….

    • Ony

I bought a xbox 360 just for Halo and Banjo’Kazooie.

      Now I regret my 200€ :'(

  • Norfair20X5

Pfft, never been a big fan of the franchise but other than being on Xbone it also has to surpass Nuts and Bolts. Hmm…

  • Magnus Eriksson

First minute sums it all up…

  • Petri

I have never played Banjo-Kazooie games.

Some people seems to think highly of them.
And some thinks Microsoft raped this and rest of the Rare franchises.

Maybe just remember the game from the good old days?
No need to dwell in Microsoft desecrating the franchise.

Bury those franchises, and only remember the games that you used to enjoy,
not these horrific Frankenstein zombie monsters that Microsoft cooks up with
    lobotomized Rare.

  • Cameron

I figured one of microsoft’s 15 would be a surprise banjo title. I bet that it’s probably a party game like nintendo land that emphasizes the kinect.

  • I_I

No one knows how to make a good platform game better than Nintendo the rest just try to copy them to Me anything coming from MS is a flop

  • ludist210

Given Microsoft’s “awesome” press conference, I don’t think anyone will be getting on board the Microsoft train anytime soon. They’ll likely redeem themselves (to a point at E3, Banjo isn’t a system seller.

  • Link Slayer

I dont know maybe if Microsoft shows off killer games at E3 we should support them. Because after all they are the only American company out of the 3 big console makers. I just really like supporting American economy. I wish they still made the systems over here they made the xbox at TI for awhile. When I can afford it I buy American musical equipment and it just seems far more supirior. I love my Gibson and Fender guitars the quality is unmatched. Except PRS and there American too.

    • Andreas Sunde

I think there’s a reason there is only one American company at the top. They clearly don’t know what they’re doing. XBone is an extremely American product, marketed at America. If you’re going to be a big console maker, you need to do so world wide. Xbox is already dead in Japan, i can easily see other parts of the world follow.
Also, last time there was a big American console maker, the American video game industry crashed.

      • Christopher Acuna

And unfortunately ‘Merica is eating it up man. CoD+360 made sure of that.

        • RockGod

As an American, comments like these make me sad.
I really hope we stop buying consoles from MS and so many clone shooter games. Not to be Anti-American But just because they flat out SUCK

  • smashbrolink

IIRC, wasn’t this image debunked a long time ago?
Also, if there’s any truth to this, then no, I still won’t be getting a One for it.
They dun goofed with Rare’s franchises too many damned times for me to forgive them.
I don’t care if people think it’s shallow of me; that’s part of my CHILDHOOD that those bastards mangled with sad-sack attempts like Nuts&Bolts.
I won’t forgive them or even look at them twice until they have the decency to sell off Rare’s best IP’s to people that can actually do them justice.

  • Rob Lucci

It won’t be as good as the originals.

  • Wanderlei

Its just Rare in name only, all the talent and creativity left a long time ago.

    • Madmagican

I get the feeling the talent came to Retro Studios

  • AAAkabob

I will go for the one that is cheaper in the long run (subscription membership expenses included)

  • HypocritesRROD

No one is getting on board the Microsoft train. Only Nintendo can bring the best out of RARE.

  • CyanideInsanity

From rare’s recent track record, it’ll either be a bad game, or a decent game yet terrible banjo kazooie game.

N&B was a good fun game, but I much rather would’ve had what their other idea was. They were thinking to either make N&B like they did, or a remake of the first game, maybe tooie as well I can’t remember, with a few changes like how they did with conker live and reloaded.

    • Louie

In an interview with Grant Kirkhope (he composed the music for Rare) he said the choices were between making Banjo Threeie, remaking banjo Kazooie as a co op game, or making a kart racing game after they got a new physics engine,

They chose a Kart Racer, and began toying with ideas, eventually it became Nuts and Bolts, which just wasn’t banjo Kazooie, or even a spin off racer like Mario kart, it was just a mess…

its a shame seeing as many Rareware staff wanted to make banjo threeie…
oh how the mighty have fallen…

  • Cerus98

Wrong website. No one cares what MS does with its busted ass “Rare” studio.

  • Rey Hardy

Lets say this is true. It’s going to be a Banjo Kazooie Kinect 2.0 game. Thats all Rareware is now, a Kinect developer.

  • Agent721

Nope. After suffering through two red rings of death, the sub fee and the never ending stream of ads, I rarely use my 360 anymore.. I tentatively plan on getting a PS4, but I doubt ill get a One.

  • The True Gamer

I think this may be legit…it appeared on a post on June 3rd, with the spartan assault logo…..but the trailer wasn’t shown until today……that means halo 5 at E3!!!!! Too bad I won’t get the Xbox One…..

  • Dez

When am I getting my Black & White 3 Lionhead!?

Anyway, if this is the best Microsoft has lined up, it has the poorest number of games in the works. I mean half of them will be buggier than sin thanks to EA and Microsoft in their new relationship. Those that aren’t buggy will probably have a million overpriced DLC packs/expansions and will be swiftly milked and beaten to death. Yeah, Microsoft screwed themselves this generation and that is a good thing. I hate Microsoft with a passion, can’t even make a good OS the first time then they sell the fix as a new OS.

  • david daniel wharton camacho

look, no one will buy it on the xbox…. “microsoft Fans” just arent interested in games like that, Rare carved their own grave when they sold themselves… i mean… wich hit game have you seen since they Started making Games for microsoft?

    • Christopher Acuna

If I remember correctly it was actually Nintendo’s fault Rare did not resign their partnership. But, yes you are right, they haven’t made anything worthwhile since Conkers BFD

      • ronin4life

I believe MS bought up a crapton of stock, giving them majority control. Nintendo wasn’t willing to buy them out(which would have been pretty damn hard, if not impossible) so they just sold the rest and got out.

And at some point during/after all this, all the good rare employees left anyway. Soooo…

  • Ghenry Perez

In other news, Dead Rising will be renamed De3d Rising. Or “Deed Rising”.

Must be focused on controlling real estate as the government is trying to annex the zombies in controlled towns with homes.

  • Guest

I thought I was at wii u daily not xboxone daily

  • Sperling

Rare is the third party content that I missed the most since the N64. I’m not really sure, I’ve been living under a rock for a few years, but it seems to me that Rare games were irrelevant in the last decade, am I right?

    • Christopher Acuna

they were pretty step child whipped into making Kinnect games.

  • Fuzunga

I’d be more inclined to believe it if that Halo 5 logo didn’t look so fake.

    • Christopher Acuna

That’s not Halo 4, that is Halo :SPartan Assault. It was announced today for mobile and pc hardware. Most likely that will be an XONE Arcade launch title or something. Or maybe a 360 arcade launch title.

EDIT: I recant my previous statement. I see the logo now. IMO it doesn’t look fake. Doesn’t look as good as the Halo 2 – 4 logo though.

      • Fuzunga

Halo 5 is on the bottom right, buddy.

        • Christopher Acuna

          view edit, guy.

  • Christopher Acuna

why would I jump ship to XONE for this? There is really nothing they have that makes me want an XONE. All of their current franchises have fallen stale, save for Halo….and even that franchise doesn’t do it for me anymore. Fable is terribad now, i don’t like Forza, Alan Wake was good for about 3 hours, BnK:nutz&boltz is also terribad, Kameo was decent, and Mass Effect is now cross platform.

  • Myles Rodriguez

I couldn’t care less about this, no offense to BK fans.
I just want a new Conker game!

  • iceazeama

its just going to be some shitty kinect game…. we learned last time. their just going to make it into a piece of shit again. i dont even care about a banjo title from microsoft anymore.

  • Ryan House

I hope this isn’t some stupid Theme Park Game. A rip off of Nintendo Land

  • Mauricio Guaura

Who cares? Banjo-Kazooie is a Microsoft franchise now, and Rare SUCKS now. It’s not an opinion, is a fact.

  • Funkynugget

To be honest, Microsoft may own Rare now, (even though the majority of the old employees have now left), and yes they may bring out new Banjo Kazooie titles on their platforms, but Banjo will always be Nintendo in my eyes, so to me its like they are trying to make a Nintendo game on their platform.

  • Squid

Noooo! D: Banjo does not belong with Microsoft, do they really think this’ll sell? Considering Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts? Grunts land isn’t exactly Banjo Threeie….

  • TaintedXGamer

U *****ing bastards! U ****ING BASTARDS! Why u steal Banjo From Nintendo :'(

  • Bob Singh

Why does this site keep posting irrelevant stuff that has nothing to do with Wii U?

  • DemonRoach

How about Tales of Symphonia 1&2 being remade in HD, but for ps3. Lawl@ninty.

  • john

No, I won’t get Xbox One just because of Banjo Kazooie. Even if it takes the series back to its roots and forgets Nuts and Bolts ever happened (I’m not saying it was horrible, but it was a big departure that I don’t think paid off with most fans), it will just be one really great game on a console that doesn’t appeal to me at all and only has a few other first-party games that I mildly enjoy.

I like Banjo Kazooie, but not enough to buy a $300+ console just to play it.

  • sd

Hmmm. So when this site isn’t publishing articles about how the Wii u is doomed it is publishing information about games coming to a different console. Oh but they have linked it to the Wii U by saying it was once an N64 game. Its not relevant news, banjo moved to microsoft in 2008.

IDEA:- how about trying some positive news articles to support the Wii U instead of this rubbish.

  • Lindsay Berkovitz

Hey, You should check out a Hat in Time on Kickstarter right now…It’s the closest thing to a authentic Banjo Kazooie-ish title you’ll get on the Wii U. Heck…They even have Grant Kirkhope, the composer for Banjo Kazooie and all the other classic Rare N64 titles involved as a stretch goal. He’s going to compose some original music for the game if the stretch goal is met.

So, I’m good, Xbox can have this One…

  • DennisJKA

This image originates from neoGAF and has clearly be identified as fake…

  • Naomi

    No…just No

Can already see this being sequel to Nuts and Bolts with just building cars.just horrible..they already failed and ruined a good game that was in legue with zelda/mario at the time, and the fact microsoft wont sell the ip to nintendo where it be put to better use..

plus old team who worked on Banjo Kazooie is gone,so its not worth it,to hope this new one would be any diffrent, which was proven when they released nuts and bolts.

Big Fail, and slap to older fans.

  • RockGod

Banjo Kazooie & Banjo Tooie would be instant downloads on VC.
A new game similar in quality to those would also be an instant purchase.
Sadly I have no interest at all in buying an XBOX ONE…

  • invible

I personally thinlk this is a win for xbox one

  • ICHI

And there it is MS pulling out their exclusives, forza, fable, some kinect game from rare and halo and only halo I have ever enjoyed. Makes me feel good I made the right choice sticking with Nintendo, where is Mr knowledge when u need him to see the creativity ms have to offer with their sequel’s.

  • Michael Jurado

a new BnK … what more could they do to this franchise to make it worse ??? oh god what if they use the graphical power of the xbox 1 and make life like BnK …

  • Destructonator101

It will be a shit game because Rare is owned by Microsoft. Rare were good, not sure if they still are. After their Microsoft made the last BK, Nuts and Bolts. Microsoft has lost its nuts and bolts. How could Microsoft relate Banjo Kazooie to making vehicles! Banjo is not a mechanic, so what was the point of this new game. Grunty Land will be Microsoft trying to revive the game that Banjo Kazooie once was. What was the pont of buying out a legendary studio such as Rare and doing shit with it? Microsoft only did it because they needed to take something from Nintendo, so the Big N could die. That wont happen. Soon the Xbone will be dead, dead when it enters the battlefield.

Microsoft has lost its nuts and bolts.

Unless they do something good with the franchise, which is highly unlikely, then god damn it Microsoft. I hope the new VCR of Microsoft’s goes to hell, and takes the whole Xbox console’s future with it.

    • Arthur Jarret

Nintendo is not blameless in this case, you know.
It’s not like Nintendo made an effort to keep Rare.

They actually had a 49% share with an option to buy out Rare at the end of a time period.

Nintendo is the one that decided not to buy Rare even if they got the first option to do so (contractually) – which forced the owners of Rare to look for another buyer.

The best option for Rare was Microsoft.

If Nintendo had wanted to, they could have owned Rare for much less money than what Microsoft paid.

  • Daniel

Why would someone that opens a WiiU site to get WiiU news, would want to read about Xbox One games?!

  • MujuraNoKamen

Oh, oh god, oh please No! As a gamer I really don’t want XBone to have BK, no not because I’m being a fanboy but because new Rare are terrible and wouldn’t be able to make a decent Banjo game if they tried. And if this is true, then it’s probably some sort of Spin-off game rather than a true BK 3D platformer.
I’ve said before, for everyone involved it’s best for MS/Rare to sell the license to the old franchise form the N64/SNES glory days, new Rare can’t do them justice and won’t touch them – unless it’s to make cacky nuts-and-bolts-esque spin-offs. If they did sell these franchises (hopefully to Nintendo) that they’d otherwise leave to gather dust or crap all over then they’d have money from the deal, Nintendo would get some good IPs back, and us gamers would get some great games 🙂

  • Devard Collins

i will tell one thing rare will been better with nintendo we will had more banjo-kazooie games and killer instinct

  • Mad Scientist Link

If this is true it might turn out to be some Nintendo land game showing off the kinects potential. Also out of the new 15 exclusives games how many do you believe will be kinect based games?

  • Virus6

Considering how badly they butchered Nuts and Bolts, IDGAF

  • bizzy gie

    Rare should’ve stayed with Nintendo.

  • Cubester_64

    Shouldn’t this be on xboxonedaily.com ?

  • Jamal Brown

i was never a fan of banjo kazooie so it don’t bother me

  • Nicolas Dorion

  • kevin

Am I on XBOX ONE website or what????? Bad enough you advertise on a WIIU site for XBOX and PS4.

  • Leo

The loss of Rare is the biggest tragedy in videogame history.

  • RockGod

    Oh Man… This really stings!
Not this new game, it will probably suck. I just wish we could get the two N64 titles released on VC!
The further possibilities… Banjo & Kazooie as characters for other Nintendo titles like Super Smash Bros. or even Mario Kart.
