Nintendo of Australia has confirmed that it will not be releasing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle, nor will it be offering the limited edition Ganondorf figurine that both Nintendo of America and Europe will have. The bundle is priced at $299 and includes a deluxe edition Wii U with a special GamePad print, a copy of Wind Waker HD, and a digital copy of the Hyrule Historia book.

“[We] do not have plans to release these in Australia and New Zealand at this stage.”

If you live in Australia or New Zealand and you’re keen on that Wii U bundle or the Ganondorf figure, you’ll have to import them from Europe, unfortunately. Bummer.

  • A bit odd, I’d say…

    • Kaleb

Maybe Windwaker is not much of a system seller as it is here…

  • WiiUisgaming

I live in Latinamerica and I also must import the Ganondorf figurine from Northamerica.
I did the same with all my games and consoles, because if I buy here the cost is double.

    • jay

Yeah and others feel they have the right to complain.

  • wober2

Australia is always in the news about what it does not get… poor australia.

    • asdfg

      Try living in Brazil.

      • Theiz Zzee

I would love to visit there. Do they not have the Wii U in Brazil?

        • asdfg

Not yet. I had to import mine. Plus, games here are ridiculously expensive. And we don’t have Club Nintendo. It sucks to be brazilian. I’m getting out of here as soon as I can.

          • Theiz Zzee

I see. Maybe soon. Brazil is one of biggest growing economies. Good luck to you.

    • Nintenjoe82

yep, didn’t get the Ashes this year!

  • Saleh Sbeiti

Has anyone ever noticed the smiley face in the bottom left corner of the website?

    • Sdudyoy

I have and it annoys me for some reason.

      • jay

Yeah i notice all kinds of small details. With the iMac you can zoom into anything, it becomes second nature and I’ve noticed the Smiley.

I’ve also noticed Wii Remotes EVERYWHERE.

    • TCar
      • Saleh Sbeiti

I stared at that a for a long time until I realized there was a smiley face.

        • TCar

You must have been very tired and found something very small to stare at. Then asked yourself, “what the hell am I staring at! Holy crap, its a smiley!” 🙂

          • CorranHorn421

Am I only only one who immediately thought of the Praetorians from the movie, The Net?

          • TCar

I was thinking of that also, just couldn’t remember the name of it. 🙂

        • jay

I got a iMac biatch! I get to Zoom in.

    • TCar

My question is, how did you come across it? 🙂

    • Guest

      No !! Where is it I can’t see it ! :0

    • Linskarmo

That same smiley face has been on multiple comment pages that I’ve seen… Strange.

  • sdmac200600

What I want to know is if that Wind Waker HD Ganon figurine bundle is not exclusive to Gamestop because I don’t want to give them my money…

    • Saleh Sbeiti

      It is.

      • sdmac200600

Well I’ll just wait til it’s on eBay. I refuse to give Gamestop my money…

        • Saleh Sbeiti

          • TCar

Probably because they open all their games and then sell them as new! Then you try to return it, without playing it, and they say it is used.

          • sdmac200600

They screw over consumers too much. They screwed me over multiple time. Until they change their business model, they aren’t getting my money.

          • Ganjabriel Del Campo

I really don’t like GameStop too, because they seem like a play station and Xbox stores ! and they don’t have much on Nintendo stuff.

          • sdmac200600

Exactly, I’m not even sure if I want that Ganon figurine anymore just because it’s a Gamestop exclusive. I’ve been buying all my games from Amazon because I know they won’t open my stuff…I wasn’t gonna open that bundle so it could keep it’s value but Gamestop just loves to put their sticker on the boxes and loves to take the plastic off off games. That irritates me in so many ways…

          • jay

Yeah their immature “hardcore” gamers. They pretend to be smart and act tough because they play gun games then look at you like you’re a baby for buying Wii Sports Resort.

          • jay

Yeah I was one of the first to pre-order Skyward Sword and when I went to pick up the game they gave out all the Remote bundles. So last minute I was scrambling around town for a copy.

They screwed my friend over when he pre-ordered Pokemon that was supposed to come with a plush toy. Apparently they gave out his toy to someone else. All my friend got was an “oh well”.

  • audi lover

Oh my cousin gona be pissed hes been waiting to buy until ww was released and now hes not even gona have the option to buy them in that great special edition pack, I feel sorry for ya aussies

  • And again one of these bizarre choices N makes, why would you release the wwhd bundle in NA and Europe but not in Australia? These decisions I can’t figure them out, sometimes I really don’t get N. I find this so useless and feel seriously sorry for the Aussies again. This is like the 3rd time N makes such strange decisions in which Australia is once again screwed from behind. (As European we’ll get it but it really pisses me of to see that Australia is screwed again)

Feels like Australia is the new Europe of the 80’s and 90’s (Europe 80/90’s example: Earthbound, Final Fantasy 3,4,5 and 6, chrono trigger etc. The days Europe didn’t get these games)

    • prettypinkpanacea

Don’t worry, we adapt to survive. Unfortunately, we have to. Also, I believe that most people in Australia prefer sony or microsoft consoles.

      • prettypinkpanacea

Of course, I have no hard proof of this, just general observations.

        • Jamie D. Parker

I would quite happily buy this as I have yet to get around to buying a Wii U I also bought the Zelda edition 3DS so this would have gone nicely…oh well ebay or nothing such a shame, they would have had my money.

          • prettypinkpanacea

True. I am actually realling looking forward to Zelda: A link between worlds for the 3ds. That game looks great. I bought ocarina of time 3ds and I am very impressed with how that plays.

  • Katz

    Wii U mad Australia?

  • aldo2410

anybody knows the price of the Ganondorf figure bundle?

  • Link

Dang i payed 350 for my wiiu and i didn’t get a good game. Nintendo i demand
    A.)The Wind Waker
    B.)Free Coca cola FOR LIFE
    C.)A million dollars

    • Ganjabriel Del Campo

Jajaja buy the black ops ll it’s pretty fun or the Zelda skyward sword !

      • jay

I keep forgetting Wii U can play Wii games.

        • Ganjabriel Del Campo

      • Link

merp no money and bought mario u + DLC so ive got to wait awhile for more money. unless you can sell me these games for 7 bucks

        • Ganjabriel Del Campo

          • Link

  • SonicLucario

    Whats the reason behind this?

  • jay

    feels bad bro….

  • Andreas Sunde

This is gonna piss of Yahtzee…

  • Levian VII

  • greengecko007

And why would it? It’s not like Nintendo is trying to sell something is it? Oh wait…

  • FlyingBoat

    yea ill get over it

  • sd

This is idiotic. It would be the same model as in Europe so it makes no sense. Sales will suffer here because of this. Oh and I was looking for the ltd edition zelda figure to preorder so this sucks too.

  • Albert Lucero Jr

I live in the U.S. and I can’t understand why Nintendo would not give Australia this option. Is Zelda not popular in Australia or something? I know it’s not as big in Japan. Makes no sense.

    • Maraccuda

Being an Australian I can say Zelda is popular. Most people I know have atleast heard of it at some time in their lives.

I guess Nintendo of Australia feels like it will not push enough Wii Us to justify releasing the bundle here.

      • Jamie D. Parker

Surely though releasing the bundle and making a few sales among the more “hardcore” Zelda fans would be more profitable than not releasing it and taking in no money from the people who were waiting for something like this.

  • Theiz Zzee

The reason Australia isn’t getting it is because of very very poor sales there. Would this bundle and lower price change that? Who knows

  • Maraccuda

I was sitting on the fence about purchasing a Wii U for a long while as I had expected a Wind Waker bundle ever since they announced the game was coming to the console. But this news deeply saddens me as an Aussie.

Luckily I got my Wii U about a week ago for a real good price, but I am sure there are plenty of Australians that were waiting for a bundle like this to finally purchase a Wii U.

  • Razo_E

No Wind Waker + deadly animals? Time for everyone in Australia to move.

  • Ant

Ive been waiting for a reason to buythe Wii U, as a lifetime fan I felt the Wii betrayed my expectations of a system and its been down hill since. So i guess I still wont be buying the Wii U. I will wait for a reason to buy it but maybe I need to give up on Nintendo.
