A new officially released piece of alpha footage was uploaded to the Assassin’s Creed French YouTube channel, featuring a short look at the next game entitled Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Through the footage we can see what appears to be 19th century buildings and the Notre Dame cathedral in the back drop, signifying this game takes place in Paris. Given the setting and the fact that a guillotine makes it’s appearance at the end of the clip, it’s probably safe to say that this Assassin’s Creed will take place during the French Revolution, where King Louis XVI was decapitated. The beginning of the video states “Next-gen starts here” and the end of the video showcases logos for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It looks like the Wii U will be left behind by Ubisoft, as I predicted in my article here. local_offer assassin's creed unity Nintendo ubisoft wii u stars Further Reading F-Zero X gets updated on Wii U to fix control New Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer and game Super Mario Maker Wii U vs 3DS comparison (vi Get Ocarina of Time on 3DS for only $14 New teaser site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild released How to track NES Classic Mini stock in time for Christmas Frankie The game takes place in 17th century Paris, and they are developing another Assassin’s Creed game for current gen. The Wii U will probably get that version. MerryBlind . indeed. matthew garcia So in other words wii u is getting the inferior version Gregg No, in other words, Wii U is getting a different version bizzy gie It means Wii U will be looked at as a current gen console. LyonKS555 don’t you mean past gen? Ps4 and Xbone are already on the market. We should really drop the next gen talk but I know people are too slow to realize this. Unless you actually mean Wii U is indeed of the 8th generation which it is but its being treated like 7th gen as was the Wii with 6th gen. matthew garcia Quit being a smart ass wii is getting the the old tech version. It’s getting the same game that’s coming out on 360 which has been in the market since 2005. I Dont Think Wii U Can live to long like this LyonKS555 I’m stating a fact. No need to call me a smart ass. matthew garcia I never said u didn’t state a fact I know your right. It’s the way u responded to him like a prick LyonKS555 The truth hurts like a prick. Deal with it or am I being too mean? matthew garcia Go fuck yourself. I can tell your a pansy with that flower picture quit actin all big shit on the Internet loser and get a life. Yall fuckin take yall kids wii u machine to seriously. More to life then video games. LyonKS555 whoa kid what’s with the fire? No need for kiddish comments like that. If you don’t have nothing good to say, save it. matthew garcia I’m a civil person but when I see someone try to put someone else down whether there right or wrong I’ll stick up for that person. There are right ways to discuss things and u were right about your comment but since u were right u used it as an advantage to put someone down. So ill say it again go fuck yourself LyonKS555 and like I said, the truth hurts. You should get your mouth rinsed for bad vocabulary & manners matthew garcia I don’t see why u take such pride in being right about the order of console generations. I can see in other things but video games cmon lol. That truth doesn’t hurt at all considering it’s just videogames. Like I said get a life and make yourself useful to the world. Oh and by the way go fuck yourself pansy LyonKS555 You really want me to think that? Come on kid, I know you want to end this conversation with me feeling bad with your insults but I can keep entertaining myself with every comment you make. Didn’t we already drop the original topic since you started going mad? Honestly Matthew, I could care less what’s happening with video games today. I already lived the golden years of video games. matthew garcia Well I’m 29 now and my main love has always been playing guitar and music. I been playing since I was 13 and that always comes first way before video games. I rather listen to pink Floyd and play along to it. Video games are just something I like to do LyonKS555 Ok that’s nice. bizzy gie No need to insult my intelligence. I’m not slow one bit. I regard the PSWii60 gen as last gen, but still One4U gen as next gen to not confuse people (rather han demean their intellectuality). It was one slip up. I meant to type last gen. LyonKS555 I meant no offense. I just would like see people finally forget all this next-gen mumbo-jumbo because we’re in it already. bizzy gie I understand that, but until people catch on I’ll continue to regard current gen as gen as “new gen”. DragonSilths Wii U, PS4, Xbox One ARE CURRENT GEN. THERE IS NO NEXT GEN ANYMORE. bizzy gie I ALREADY KNOW THIS. DragonSilths GOOD THEN MAYBE WE CAN NOW STOP USING CAPS LOCK!!! lol Umjereni Guys, it’s unbelievable how you spend your energy on some useless debating what is current and what is next gen. You may call Wii U current gen, but obviously we there are two big problems with it: the already user don’t really buy the wii u versions of third party companies and, after just one year, the wii u seems already underpowered, regardless whether you put some effort to save this or that effect. That is the big problem for Nintendo. You can’t put inferior hardware specs into a console and than try to compensate whit a controller you yourself don’t know what to do with it. I love the AC franchise and it unfortunately means that I will have to buy a ps4 to be able to play it. That means less and less games for the wii u because people will be forced to buy ps4 or x1 to play third parties and that in the end is the end of the wii u. Philosophical disputes about this or next gen consoles are a complete waste of time. The wii u is most probably a last gen console by all standards. And I’m not happy with it. bizzy gie YOU STARTED IT. lololololololololololololol Daniel Gonzalez Or no version at all. DragonSilths You mean LAST GEN. SamusPrime Must be for the PS5 since it says next gen starts here. Mercurio2054 haha right now there’s no next gen… just… current gen… Daniel Gonzalez Now that all three are out, indeed. Ony As a French, I’m ashamed. Sorry for that. I’m on my way to kick some arses at Ubi’. andrewjcole They better put it on Wii U! What’s the point of putting previous games on the Wii U, then dropping it altogether. I have a couple friends who only have Wii U’s and love the series. Sydney Ultrasyd Why ? – Because people or very critics toward Ubisoft, because of Rayman’s delay. You can often read “I won’t buy your games anymore”, or “you don’t bring the DLC ? I don’t buy”. – Then, because sells on Wii U are very low, because of low install base and perhaps also less people playing this kind of games on Wii U. – And 3rd, because they are clearly focusing on next gen, as stated in this footage. So far, the Wii U performed as a PS3 or an XBOX 360 for this serie. Some say that’s because the guys of Ubi Bucarest were lazy and they didn’t push the hardware very far. But I don’t think it’s the only reason. The new Ubisoft’s engine is very amazing. If they want that “wow” factor, with many atmospheric effects (some were missing on Wii U, PS3 and 360) with 1080p and 60fps, we can’t compete, it’s clear. What’s the point with putting the previous games ? Some games is better than no games at all. I’m happy that I could play at least play 2 episodes on Wii U. I think that Ubisoft are unhappy with the results on Wii U, and the Wii U player are not happy with Rayman’s delay or missing DLC … then why should they continue ? lonewolf Dude go and take a nap you need one. Sydney Ultrasyd Seriously, guys, you are funny. Christian Schoff No dude he’s right. Half of your rant is unreadable. Sydney Ultrasyd Sorry man, english is not my native langage as you can easily guess, I do what I can. Damn, I commented quite a lot yesterday. I’m just sick of reading the same complaints without any arguments. Daniel Gonzalez He brought up good points. Lol. I think it’s you who needs one, or many. Don’t be so offended by a comment. ;P tomtank91 How can you enjoy the series when Nintendo have only had it for 2 years. The two worst games in the series. BrandonIsAGod I do what I can to buy all 3rd party games on the Wii U instead of on my 360, PS3 or PS4 or PC, but this is greatly disappointing. Sad to see that once again, were losing even more 3rd party support. Looks like in this gen, the Wii U will be mostly a first party and indie game console… Ashley King Actually, the PS4 has already surpassed the Wii U install base in less than six months of being on the market. The Xbox One is pretty close as well, if not already surpassed thanks to Titanfall. So yeah, the Wii U had a two year head start that it squandered. BIG Franky not disagreeing in principle, but Nintendo “only” (LOL) squandered a one year head start… not a two year head start… again, your point still holds true and is valid, it just isn’t as accurate when you round up by a year. 🙂 Sydney Ultrasyd Exactly, the fact that the game is missing on Wii U won’t affect their sells at all, sadly. 3rd party game on Wii U always account for a very little part of total for this kind of games. A whole team could work on it and it wouldn’t pay off. Jan The hype sorrounding the PS4 was so big that they could have achieved the same results even without a single game released (not so far from the truth anyway…). It is all about marketing and target audience. Nintendo this time failed at both. Daniel Gonzalez Major fail at that. ChrisCamp Based on the current rate of sales for XBox 1 and Wii U, Microsoft won’t surpass Wii for another year and a half. and that’s assuming the big games coming up for Wii U won’t rally hardware sales Nintenjoe82 2 year? November 2012 to November 2013? Mercurio2054 that was my tough nexxus6 Please back up that statement about Titanfall. I do not believe that Titanfall moved 2.5 million Xbones. That was the difference between WiiU and Xbone prior to its release. Nintenjoe82 It’s nothing to do with the low specs or install base. It’s AC3 only selling 240,000 copies and AC4 and Splinter Cell selling even less than that combined. They’re just not selling at all on Wii U. I don’t think the fact that there are no adverts for Wii U versions of these games, most stores aren’t stocking them and they’re coming out on other systems that people already own is helping. BrandonIsAGod If they’re selling low numbers on all platforms combined, wouldn’t it make the most sense to release the game on more consoles than less? Or just not sell any at all. The fact that first party games are coming out so slowly, with little to no third party games coming out, other than some eshop games from some indie devs kinda bothers me. It’s hard to continue supporting a platform that has little to no games compared to its competition. I have no problem waiting for first party games to come out, but when there’s literally no third party games coming out for the Wii U other than a few to keep me busy during the long wait for the first party games, it leads me to question why I even bothered to be an early adopter of the console. Yeah DKCTF is a great game, and there’s MK8 coming out shortly, other than that, there’s been and will be almost nothing. We’ve been getting very few updates from Nintendo as of late, which gives very little hope of anything else besides MK8 and Smash Bros 4 coming out in 2014. Hopefully Bayonetta 2, X and Hyrule Warriors and Sonic Boom come out this year, but I highly doubt they will be big console sellers, other than maybe Hyrule Warriors. Zelda U and a new Metroid game, I doubt will be coming out anytime soon, and I predict a release of holiday 2015, which is probably being generous. Having what like 6 games to look forward to, and almost no third party games kinda sucks. Xavier Lopez Chabelo I tell you, whenever I go online on COD I only see like 1500 people playing, and at MAX only 2700…. Yep, thats A LOT… Gregg Wii U specs are far from low. And Wii U is getting plenty of great games from Nintendo, others, and especially smaller and “indie” developers. This is great, because, with a pile of consoles on my center, who needs the same games available for all of them anyway… Sydney Ultrasyd True, but indie game generally don’t need a lot of power ressource. I think we didn’t see yet what the Wii U is able of, but I think it can’t compete with the PS4 honestly. I can’t afford an other console for the moment 🙁 Yen So… they put a big U in the title and they’re not putting it on the Wii U? Missed opportunity there. Levi Johansen Yup, the only thing lacking with the Wii U is advertisment, all games that are properly advertised are selling like crazy. I’m betting they’ll release this game on Wii U eventually though. Daniel Gonzalez The odds are against it. GABRIEL GARCIA Whazaaaaa http://youtu.be/FyusSlPf6rI Sydney Ultrasyd Guys, we are talking of a next gen game here Yen Okay? Well this game must not be that good since it’s only going to be on PS4 and XBox One. I expect my next gen games to be on the PS5 and XBox TWO. Sydney Ultrasyd Well, OK you got a point, PS4 and XBOX One are current gen now, which makes, sadly the Wii U previous gen according to devs. I think that the Snowdrop Engine looks really good, on the “current gen” Yen Last I checked, Wii U is the current generation Nintendo home console. Therefore, Wii U is a current gen system. Sydney Ultrasyd OK as you want, play with the words. I love my Wii U with more than 20 games so far, but technically though, I think it’s not compatible with the upcoming games. Nintendo yet have to demonstrate the power it has. You have to look at the ambitions of Ubisoft. With stuff like their Snowdrop Engine, i think we are talking about things that don’t run on the Wii U or PS3/360 as they would expect it. So what’s wrong with choosing the latest hardware ? Dunno what they will use for the next AC, I’ll ask my friend who works there about that. But generally you seek for hyper realistic environment at 1080p and the best framerate possible now. PS3, 360 and Wii U struggle hard on the latest Assassin’s Creed. The framerate is very inconsistent, and visually the game lacks some details compared to “newer” hardware. Nintendo delivered some very nice games like Mario 3D World (I’m playing it right now as I’m writting), everything is smooth, but there isn’t a lot of textures, details or atmospheric effects for example in this game, and it is 720p. The game I spent most time playing, Lego City Undercover, has terrible clipping and low framerate despite the fact that there isn’t a lot of effects displayed. So, from what I see, I doubt the Wii U will meet the requirments to Ubisoft’s ambitions for their next games, simply. You can play with the words “current” or “next” gen, that doesn’t change the facts. I’m not queen on technic, but I find their new engines very promising, and I think this is why you won’t see it on Wii U. Yen See, what you’re saying now is completely different than what you originally said. You’re talking technology. So let me ask you, if Ubisoft wants to maximize their games for the latest hardware, why don’t they just go PC only? PS4 and XBox One are nothing compared to a decent PC. Should I consider PS4 and Xbone past gens as well because they don’t compare to a PC? I don’t think that’s true which is why I don’t think Wii U is past gen either. I wasn’t the one playing with words. I just pointed out what those words mean and Wii U is current gen. I agree that Nintendo hasn’t demonstrated the power of a Wii U. I also think 3rd partys aren’t putting enough effort into it either. I’ve seen how great games can look on Wii U. Windwaker HD and Pikmin 3 look amazing. Yes they’re simpler to render, but that’s also a skill in development. Knowing how to make your game look great with what you have. I’ve never played an AC game. I never said anything about needing this game to be on Wii U. I think if Ubi don’t want this game on the Wii U then it’s fine because they got their reasons. I just think it’s funny that this game’s title has a big U in it that would be easy to advertise with if it was a Wii U game. Sydney Ultrasyd The term current / next gen always refers to technology, no ? Because this is what makes an hardware new when it’s released, right ? Dunno, I always use next gen in a way to say more powerful, a new console can’t really be less powerful I hope. Sorry if you misunderstood me. Comparing a PC to a console is not a good thing in my opinion, yet we see that everyday when fanboys bash Nintendo, or Sony or Microsoft, then the PC gamer says “mine is better”.For a console, there is one standard. You got it, you play the game. There is no real definition of a PC at a giver time. One can compare consoles in the same generation, but the PC is constantly evolving, one component after an other … I think that most people own a PC that is not much more powerful than a PS4 by the way, all the more than casual people prefer to use a tablet or a little laptop nowadays. The simplicity of a console is the main point, plus the fact that the controllers are also standardised and fit for local multiplayer. PC is a very different market. Here, I have a very good PC, plenty of memory and power, that I use for music production or graphics work. I totally stopped playing on PC. Why ? Because you play the console in your sofa. It’s fast to boot. Many people don’t like to stay on the very same chair and desk to work and play. Also, when you’re done with a console, you can sell it. or keep it for collection. The PC lacks all this surrounding context, and I think that’s why there will always be consoles and PC at the same time. Also, consoles sell very well, so there is no point in avoiding this market. I really hope that the Wii U can be pushed further than what we saw so far. We all know it’s the case, the difference between the early games and the last in the life cycle of a console are very important. But here, the issue is the difference between Wii U and the consoles released at the same moment, at least for this kind of game, and I would lie if I say that I don’t care. I really bought the Wii U thinking that, unlike the Wii that I really disliked, I could play all kind of games :'( Well, I’ll buy a PS4 at some point I guess ! or an oculus rift, because this looks like the future of gaming. Maybe Nintendo has something like that too, who knows 😀 Yen Look Nintendo already has its version of the Oculus Rift! http://imgur.com/AZxjCwR Jokes aside, I agree with you. Comparing PC to console really isn’t fair nor is it a useful comparison. But take me for example. I have a Wii U, and a fairly powerful PC. It’s even hooked up to my TV in the living room. Steam also has AC games WAY cheaper than for console. If I’m playing these games on PC but still in my living room, why would I need to play AC games on a console? For Nintendo exclusives or games that are ported that I enjoy, I can go to my Wii U. So thinking of it like that, I don’t see why PS4 and XBox One are so popular. That’s just me of course. The Wii U has been proven to be more powerful than the 360 and PS3. So it’s at least better than last gen. So I have a problem with people considering the Wii U a last gen console, but I know where you’re coming from. I see potential in the Wii U. With the gamepad technology, if done right, we can even eliminate having to sit at only one place to play games. Sofas can get uncomfortable too. Daniel Gonzalez Only if you have a bad sofa. Wighead Yeah your sofa is probably a last gen sofa… Daniel Gonzalez Sounds like a last gen response. ;P DragonSilths Yet to demonstrate the power? Nintendo may have not yet, but are we forgetting someone by the name of Shin’en? And Zelda HD at E3 will shut up the people who want to see the “graphics” Also that old Zelda HD tech demo and Japanese garden tech demo with the Wii U that wasn’t even the finalized version showed off its power. Its like the Nintendo made the Wii U with power but then went back to not using it… 504HotBoy I’m still wondering why people still expect Wii U first gen software to push the limits of the system, when it’s totally custom hardware? The reason why PS4 & Xbox One games are coming out the gate using 75% of the systems full potential or as CD Projekt Red states nearly maxing it out (so over 90% of systems full potential) with The Witcher 3. Cause they’re already familiar with that X86 PC architecture. Wii U completely custom. Why no one question how games on 360 & PS3 got to the point of developers being able to max out the consoles after working so many years on there and finding ways to get the systems full potential with games like Uncharted 3, The Last Of Us, Gears Of War 3, Halo 4, etc. Correct me if im wrong, but did any 360 or PS3 games looked on that level in the first few years of its life let alone, its first gen software? They were custom hardware. Took developers some time to get the Cell processor to work to their its benefits. 360 & PS3, as well as the countless of hardwares that came before them got a pass from games looking better over time. So why are people questioning Wii U? How strange? Sydney Ultrasyd Your arguments are interesting, and it’s true that PC architecture is easier to handle. But I don’t think it’s strange to question the Wii U, as we are here discussing the case of a game to be released soon and probably skipping the Wii U. For many potential reasons (or if you want, for no reason beside the fact that they don’t like Nintendo (?)), but maybe for technical reasons too. Of course the Wii U is young. No one can deny that, and games will be MUCH BETTER in a few years. No doubt. This is NOT the issue. But if the Wii U cannot do right now what the other systems do, there is the problem, I mean for 3rd party games. As Nintendo said they would have plenty of 3rd party support. I’m pretty sure Wii U will deliver awesome graphics after some time, but if they need something like the Snowdrop Engine RIGHT NOW, Nintendo themselves didn’t demonstrate that the console can handle such a level of details. We could argue that the developers are not familiar with the system, and that they don’t really take time to explore it correctly when they are porting a game. It must be a part of the problem. But so far we don’t know what the Wii U can do, Nintendo didn’t show anything mindblowing, in my opinion. I insist on that. Zelda will be, hopefully, mindblowing. For the moment, I saw platformers (DK, Mario Bros) and very fun but rather simple games like Mario 3D World, Pikmin, or Nintendoland, Wii Sport and Wii Fit U with their Mii and environments without any complex details. I don’t say that’s bad. But on the other side, I see what Ubisoft is preparing, and we are talking about a game that could skip the Wii U. The problem would be very different if we had lazy developers on one side, and Nintendo already delivering complex games running 1080p 60 fps right now. I agree that power and graphics don’t make a good game, but if we want 3rd party games, the Wii U should be able to do the same as PS4 and XBOXone. And not in 4 years. I think it’s the same for PS4 and XBOXone by the way, we can’t judge their real power now, even if, as you say, their architecture is more classic. 504HotBoy I don’t expect Wii U games to start really pushing the system until late 2015, to be totally honest( who knows it may be a bit earlier). What I mean by that is seeing games on Wii U, that people thought wasn’t graphically possible. Also the difference is, developers have come forward themselves, Nintendo included saying they’re taking time adjusting to working with the Wii U hardware. In Nintendo’s case the move to HD have made them totally unprepared. That’s not the case with the PS4 & Xbox One. Even before they were released developers were saying they can get the best out the hardware from the jump. That spawned so many artitcles on next gen systems being maxed out before they’re even released. Furthermore was CD Projekt Red’s statement on The Witcher 3 will nearly max out the graphic capabilities of the PS4 & Xbox One. Which is quite believable, considering that the PC version is the main platform their developing for and it will display in 4K resolution and use a lot of things on max settings. Then ported down to PS4 & Xbox One. They’re trying to squeeze all they can out the home console versions. I do know the PS4 & Xbox One still will have untapped potential, but I also believe that developers will max them out before Wii U, for the simple fact, they more in tuned with the hardware. Either way as I stressed out many times before 8th gen systems doesn’t make 7th gen systems graphics looked outdated, compared to previous gens before this. There in no way the huge leap a lot of these delusional fans would leave you to believe. Unless they all of sudden can do 4K resolution, running games at 120fps with graphics that rival James Cameron Avatar or beyond, I will still say 8th gen is just a upgrade from 7th gen and not a true evolution. Still loving it though, cause like you said, in the end, it’s all about the games. 504HotBoy My 8th Gen library will continue to grow…. http://postimg.org/image/hmdz9b5ib/ Keep in mind I had my Wii U a year before my PS4, so of course I have more Wii U games. But im going to rack up on some more PS4 games such as The Evil Within, The Order 1886, etc. Sydney Ultrasyd I love Shin’en, Manfred’s team does a great job. I totally love how Nano Assault looks so great on Wii U with a size of 80 Mb or something. And I personally talk from time to time with one of their member. But they are a small team. No matter how much talented they are, they can’t produce THE big game, the one that could sell a system, and that other players would envy. They can’t compete with a studio with $$$ and plenty of people. I wish I’m wrong though !! The next Art of Balance game is not really the one to show the power of Wii U. We will see with Fast Racing Neo. As said, I’m really waiting for Zelda. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t say that the Wii U is not more powerful than most people think. But SO FAR, Nintendo didn’t show it. And it’s right now that Ubisoft is developing Assassin’s Creed V and The Division, and that they need a bit of power for their engines. Honestly, yes, I want to see “graphics”. I’m not ashamed to say that. But with a deep story, great gameplay, totally awesome use of the Gamepad. I’m tired with the Mii style games for example. Nintendo are good at what they do with gameplay, but why not adding a bit more polishing ? Why not get both ? DragonSilths Wont be another Xbox from Microsoft they will withdraw from the gaming industry after the XO fails. And Sony…seeing as the PS4 is the only thing making them money right now they will be lucky to not disappear from the planet part way through this generation. Daniel Gonzalez In terms of sales, probably not. Frankie That is not Alpha footage, it is prerendered in Maya more than likely. Xavier Lopez Chabelo Do you remember THE DIVISION??? Yep, it looked like rendered cinnematics, but it was gameplay all the time. We are just getting to that cinnematic quality Frankie Except we are not. Sydney Ultrasyd Of course it’s skipping Wii U. Why would they put a team on that when people here keep on complaining for just a missing DLC, saying that they are done with Ubisoft, telling that those games are crappy and buggy anyway. With the install base of PS4 compared to Wii U and the little previous sells of 3rd aprty games on Wii U, they won’t miss much though. I really enjoyed playing III and IV on Wii U :/ Xavier Lopez Chabelo THIS. Most of this community is fulled with DELUSIONAL NINTENDO FANBOYS… Im sad cause I love AC… Im sad cause I love Kingom Hearts… Im sad cause I love Final Fantasy… (XIII SAGA is awful) So in the end I will buy a PS4 as my primary console, and my Wii U… well, lets say its going to be there, waiting for a new first party game. Im just an open minded Nintendo fan, thats all. Logan Wayman Who knows? They might be already making Assassin’s Creed Unity for the Wii U, they’re just keeping it secret for now. BrandonIsAGod They’re probably pulling an Activision, where it’s a mystery as to whether Call of Duty is released on the Wii U or not until a month or two before release, but I won’t be surprised if games like CoD and AC, Batman Arkham series don’t come to the Wii U now that third-party devs are straying away from producing games for the PS3 and 360. Xavier Lopez Chabelo Man… if the Wii U lose support from ACTIVISION that will be horrendous… I clarify, I dont like COD matthew garcia Wishful thinking. All developers are jumping ship on wii u MerryBlind . There are rumors Ubisoft are working on two different AC games at the same time. This one for PC, PS4, X1, and another one for 360 and PS3. My guess is that the one for PS3/360 will also be for Wii U, maybe PC too. CydeFxt Figures. This is why i won’t be buying anymore Ubisoft games on my ps3 then later my ps4 unless its used. 00EpicGamer00 Are you kidding me? I’d understand if you’re not into the games Ubisoft makes, but to not buy them because they are not putting it on the Wii U? First of all, there’s a possibility that this will be the same situation as COD: Ghosts. It wasn’t mentioned for a Wii U release right off the bat. This could be the same scenario. Second, if it turns out not to be what I said before, then have you ever thought that Ubisoft, as a game company, needs to make money? Like everyone else?Ubisoft barely gained any profit from any game they released on Wii U. I think the only game that sold better than the other consoles was Rayman Legends. Ubisoft tried to support Wii U, but the sales told them that no one really wants their games on Wii U. Unless the Wii U starts selling very well, then most likely Watch Dogs will be the Wii U’s last game from ubisoft. Yen What’s wrong with not buying a game because it didn’t come out on a console you want it on? 00EpicGamer00 That’s not exactly a huge problem. It was a problem when he said “won’t be buying anymore games from ubisoft on PS3 then later my PS4 unless it’s used.” I completely understand if someone’s angry that it isn’t on their console of choice, and doesn’t want to buy it. But to buy it “used” on another console that they own? That’s obviously the result of too much anger. Daniel Gonzalez Yep. If it’s not on your console of choice, then either move on or buy a console that will have that game. Having more than one console is a good bet in situations like this. 00EpicGamer00 Agreed. That’s why I have a PS3 and maybe I’ll get a PS4 for Christmas. Hopefully the price will be down a bit. And hopefully there will be an Assassin’s Creed PS4 bundle. 😉 Daniel Gonzalez Not a problem at all. It’s just the logic of Wii U owners upset that they don’t get the same third party as other platforms, and when they do, they ignore it despite if it was gimped or not. That’s about the only thing that is wrong. Rinslowe Similar to every platform owner that only has one system really… Bayo 2 is a good example. 🙂 Your particular brand of logic is through the looking glass… Xavier Lopez Chabelo I tell you, I Bayo 2 sells poorly then the Wii U…. It will only prove that Delusional Nintendo fanboys dont really know what they want Daniel Gonzalez It’s likely that it’s going to sell low. I believe around 250k, maybe 300 at most. Rinslowe No idea what you’re talking about. But I can tell you it has nothing to do with the point being made… Yen How do you know the ones upset about the lack of 3rd party support is the same group that ignore 3rd party games? If you do then call it wrong otherwise it’s just different opinions. If a third party doesn’t make a game for the Wii U it’s their decision. I enjoy my Wii U and if their game isn’t on my system then I guess I missed out on their game and they missed out on my money. It’s not worse than the logic of people asking for Nintendo to make games for Playstation. You want a Nintendo game? Then buy a Nintendo system. CydeFxt I’m not kidding you. I will admit, Ubisoft has been Nintendo’s most dedicated 3rd party supporter. So my initial post may seem a bit contradicting. I probably would get their games new, but not on release. So maybe i am kidding you. But other companies like WB and EA are used purchases for me. I stopped buying used LONG ago, but when devs decide to give half-assed ports with missing modes and content, and decide to still charge full price, i give my cash to the middle man. 00EpicGamer00 Can’t argue with that. I agree it’s a good idea to buy used games when the company themselves barely put any effort or literally nothing the other versions get into the Wii U version of the game. I appreciate Ubisoft’s contribution to the Wii U. They made really good games for Wii U. But…if you think about it, it’s not Ubisofts fault that this is happening…it’s the consumers, a.k.a. us! I myself have bought every assassin’s creed game for Wii U so far. But…the act of one person doesn’t change much. I know there are other people (like yourself) that bought their games on Wii U. But…obviously by the sale numbers, not very many people actually bought them. Which is kind of sad. I bet Ubisoft feels pretty crappy. They put so much effort into their games for Wii U, and they barely get rewarded for it. Daniel Gonzalez Not surprised that the Wii U got left out. Ubisoft I think is moving on after Watch Dogs. Can’t say I blame them. Third party sales, gimped or not, sell bad on the Wii U. To the dismay of others, I support their decision. lonewolf Watch dogs is not the even out yet. Daniel Gonzalez That matters to what I said how? I said it’s probably the last major game that Ubisoft will bring to the Wii U. I don’t see how that changes my opinion, which could learn towards fact mind you. DC777 Really don’t care after the Watchdogs fiasco. I have most 3rd party Wii U games. Sometimes it’s a good port sometimes not. Tired of COD, Arkham and AC at this point ans I haven’t even finished them yet. The thing I wonder is…WHAT are Wii U owners buying? Even Mario 3D World, Windwaker and DK have not even passed 4 to 5 million sales. So are 6 million Wii U owners happy with a one game bundle? No idea. Daniel Gonzalez I wonder that myself. Even 1st party sales are low. Only major game so far this year, is Mario Kart 8 and even that I doubt will be another Mario Kart Wii. Especially if no one is buying even Nintendo’s own games. Xavier Lopez Chabelo I got a bleeding theory…maybe most of the Wii U owners are just kids that know nothing about gaming, buying Ben 10, Barbie, and I dont know what games. I think thats the only explanation. Sydney Ultrasyd One game bundle XD Sadly maybe true… dforce79 Agreed. I want 3rd party support but they got to make money for them to remain interested. When is comes to Watch Dogs, and it being delayed (again but just for Wii U so it’s OK. lol), I have an “Alien” feeling about it’s release. Daniel Gonzalez It’s possible. If Watch Dogs turns out to be a major flop, then the Wii U version might end up being canceled. In a case like that, fans should thank Ubisoft for being so merciful. dforce79 I know, right? I’m still thanking Sega. Lol Xavier Lopez Chabelo Not trying to be an asshole but… I think the Wii U wont be able to run this game… Gentle Robot Speaking from experience or talking out your ass? Daniel Gonzalez I think he’s talking from his opinion. Quite touchy. Xavier Lopez Chabelo Well… if my opinion is hurting your feelings then yep, Im talking out of my ass. Also if you get mad it only proves you are just a delusional fanboy. Gregg Of course it can. Daniel Gonzalez Downscaled, maybe. Saul Rivera Who knows though..if the Wii U starts selling like crazy after Mario Kart and Smash…than we’ll start to see the Wii U logo on there Gentle Robot Good riddance That guy who hates Spike Question for Wii U Daily: When are you going to improve your sad list of games? I know the Wii U doesn’t have alot, but it definitely has more than what you put in the list. val berger or take that list away. something that badly updated is far worse than some empty space. The Pikmin 3 article is just ridiculous. JeanKLores Assassin’s Creed IV on Wii U compared quite poorly to PS3 and XBOX360 according to The Digital Foundry 🙁 You can blame the devs if you want, and say that it’s their fault because they are not able to program correctly on Wii U … Maybe. http://num.to/523883795861 jrob23 same ole same ole. As evidenced by low sales Wii U owners don’t care. AC is the new COD. Change name, setting and repackage. Same game. If you like the game and need to play it, buy a PC, PS4 or Xbone. Save the fake outrage. If you are attempting to put the Wii U down for not having it please look at the dismal sales and ask yourself if Wii U owners really give a fuck. Their wallets say no. Yen Another way to look at it is, Wii U owners don’t care, because Nintendo fans don’t have as big of an attachment to the series. The AC series has always been on PS3 and 360. Meaning the majority of the AC install base is already established on those consoles. Any Nintendo fans that was interested in the series probably ended up buying the earlier games on those systems or PC as well. Chances are, they’re going to want the newer games of the series on a console they played the older ones on. So the majority of the AC install base were probably already set on getting the games on PS4 or XBone, even the Wii U owners. The only way these games will sell well on the Wii U is if there is a consistent release of these games for a while. Long enough for potential new fans to try the games, and enough for existing fans to believe that the series might continue on this console. If they stop, that’s basically telling Nintendo fans, don’t hold out for a Wii U version, so they’ll just buy it on the other systems instead. jrob23 exactly. These devs have to be willing to invest and cultivate a following on Nintendo platforms. But they don’t care, it’s all a cash grab. So why should we? I always liked the ‘idea’ of AC games but I play them and I am bored to tears. They can be pretty and have elements I like a lot but the fighting and go here, no go there…just isn’t my thing. To each their own Yen Also for the topic of install base. Wii had an install base of 100M. I just took a glance at the wiki and there was no AC games for Wii. So, I understand not wanting to support the Wii U because 3 and 4 didn’t sell that well. But they might’ve sold better if Ubi took a chance with the Wii at some point! Rinslowe It also wouldn’t hurt for Nintendo themselves to share some of the costs involved for their platform… And/ or try more aggressive marketing as well. The AC series has quite the following. I would be more inclined to buy on PC. But for Wii U only owners, I think Nintendo needs to meet a company like Ubisoft half way if they are serious about cultivating real interest from them… jrob23 so true. Nintendo are the worst at that. They barely give lip service to 3rd party. I actually think Nintendo doesn’t really care all that much. If they could get the install base up, sans 3rd party, they’d be perfectly content as they make their money off of games and accessories. gtosheex Yeah i agree, they are milking that shit just like COD. Same game over and over. Almost as bad as Madden. greengecko007 It’s no more the same game than Mario and Pokemon which also release every year. nexxus6 Point being, that depending on your likes and opinions, this argument can be made for every single movie and video game series that exists. Depending on how you want to analyze and dissect aspects of games/movies you can make this statement about anything. I could say “that 2014 BMW is no different than the Ford Model T, they both have a motor and 4 wheels and drive on the road. What is the big deal? They release one every year.” greengecko007 That’s exactly the point. Everything can be overgeneralized and made to sound worse than it actually is. Why the hypocrisy (not from you)? It’s ok to buy Mario every year with just as little gameplay changes but not Assassin’s Creed? Nintendo fanboy logic. Yen Coming from the person that criticizes the Wii U. greengecko007 I criticize many things. Criticism is how we get better, not by pretending everything is good enough. Yen I meant the hypocrisy part. You said everything can be overgeneralized to sound worse than it actually is. Just like how you and a lot of others try to make the Wii U sound worse than it actually is. greengecko007 How so? Saying that the Wii U doesn’t have support from most 3rd parties, isn’t as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox One, etc. isn’t overgeneralizing the Wii U. Those are facts. Yen You’re not okay with people criticizing CoD, yet you’re okay with criticizing Wii U. That’s a form of hypocrisy. “Wii U has no games.” “Wii U is doomed.” “Nintendo will keep screwing up.” Statements like those aren’t facts they’re overgeneralized, and there’s way too much of it about the Wii U. Not that I’ve heard you say those things specifically. I’m just saying it goes both ways. greengecko007 I’m totally fine with criticizing CoD, but in a way that is fair. For years I complained about not having the same variety of game options for local multiplayer. I would, and do, defend other series like Mario and Pokemon when those are brought up in the opposite way. Like if on a Mario forum people post “Mario is milked”, I usually respond with “Not any more than CoD or Assassin’s Creed”. And yes, I would be a hypocritic if I were somebody saying “Wii U is doomed”, etc. but as you noted, I am not. Daniel Gonzalez Is criticism such a bad thing? Or is it only bad when it comes to Nintendo products? Rinslowe That question is loaded and off topic. Just because the guy used Wii U as a point of reference doesn’t automatically make him a biased Ninty fanboy. dforce79 Yes it is because the world would be all sunshine and lollipops without it. lol Daniel Gonzalez That would be quite a lame world. Lol. Fanboys on this site need to come to grips and realize that everything gets criticized. It’s a part of life. Deal with it. Yen Only when it’s done blindly to annoy the fanbase. Daniel Gonzalez Good answer. Though, everyone has their right to do so. As you just did with greengecko hours ago. Yen Pokemon games come out on average every 2 years. Only recently did they come out as soon as in 1 year. Super Mario 3D World is 4 years after Super Mario Galaxy 2 and 2 years after Super Mario 3D Land. New Super Mario Bros. U is 3 years after New Super Mario Bros. Wii. There is literally a new CoD every year since 2005. I can admit they’ve been milking Mario as a franchise a bit hard lately, but game wise it’s not like CoD at all. greengecko007 2003 – Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire 2004 – Pokemon Firered/Leafgreen 2005 – Pokemon Emerald (reboot of a 2 year old game) 2007 – Pokemon Diamond Pearl 2009 – Pokemon Platinum (reboot of a 2 year old game) 2010 – Heartgold/Soulsilver 2011 – Black and White 2012 – Black and White 2 2013 – X and Y And that’s just the main series in the past decade, during which, there was only a 2 year gap twice. Additionally, countless spinoffs were also released, resulting in at least 2-3 games per year, sometimes more. The only reason why it seems like Mario isn’t milked as badly is because Nintendo at least releases the games separately and specifically for either their handheld or console systems. Still, the series sees at least one game per year, sometimes more. Sydney Ultrasyd No matter the time between 2 games, the important thing is : is it very different or not ? This goes for CoD and Mario. When I played Mario Bros U after getting the previous one on Wii, it was like a scam. I think that people really don’t like to admitt that Mario don’t change a lot ! greengecko007 I enjoy Mario, Pokemon, and Assassin’s Creed. I’ll never understand why franchises being milked personally offends people, but I guess that means more games for me. Yen Okay, point well made for Pokemon, even though some of those years are off. But I ask you this. How different is Ruby/Sapphire from Diamond/Pearl? How different is Black/White from X/Y? Now look at how different MF2 is from MF3, or MF4 to Black Ops. Can you honestly tell me, that they’ve tried to change the formula for the series? That they’ve tried to change the game and how its played? For Pokemon, even from just Ruby/Sapphire to Firered/Leafgreen, there are big improvements to the graphics and engine of the game. I don’t see that in each of the CoD games. greengecko007 The years on the Pokemon games are correct… You can even check them yourself on the individual games. “For Pokemon, even from just Ruby/Sapphire to Firered/Leafgreen, there are big improvements to the graphics and engine of the game.” Um, no. They are both gameboy advance games using the same engines, mechanics, and sprites (with the only exception being some Pokemon have different sprites in Firered/Leafgreen) and are part of the 3rd generation of Pokemon. Anyways, the core gameplay isn’t going change very often no matter what series you play. CoD has always been a shooter, and Pokemon has always been a turnbased RPG. What they can do, and have done, for both games, is add a variety of things to each game and change the way you can play the game. New guns, equipment, perks, game modes, etc change the way you can play an FPS like CoD. Likewise, new monsters, items, and abilities change the way you can play Pokemon. Yen Ruby/Sapphire was late 2002 (your point still stands) Emerald was 2004 (which supports your point even more) Diamond/Pearl was 2006 Platinum was 2008 HeartGold/SoulSilver was 2009 Black/White was 2010 Your point still stands, the difference is just months. It’s just because you’re using western release dates. For the purposes of these arguments original release dates matter because it’s very possible for some foreign releases to be way too different and be closer together. “Um, no. They are both gameboy advance games using the same engines, mechanics, and sprites (with the only exception being some Pokemon have different sprites in Firered/Leafgreen) and are part of the 3rd generation of Pokemon.” For RS vs FRLG, sprite wise there wasn’t much improvement, but the look of the overworld, the animations, were all improved even if it’s the same engine. “Anyways, the core gameplay isn’t going change very often no matter what series you play. CoD has always been a shooter, and Pokemon has always been a turnbased RPG.” Yes, I agree with you, I just personally don’t think CoD made enough changes for them to be different enough. greengecko007 Yes, I was using localized release dates. When you said the dates were wrong, I didn’t realize you were thinking of non-localized dates. Some of the sprites were reworked for Firered and Leafgreen, but it’s still the same sprite editor. In that sense, I wouldn’t say it’s a graphical improvement at all, but rather a slightly different style. An example being the trees. The sprites are slightly different, but neither is better, they are just different. gtosheex No, its’ not the same as COD. Pokemon – they don’t come out every year, they have remakes of old games in between. Not saying that isn’t milking, because Nintendo definitely milks those franchises to a degree. Thus the reason i dont play every pokemon game that comes out, or Mario game. I dont think anyone really does right…? but at least in Mario they have different kinds of games (sports, racing, adventure, etc) I’m not saying AC or COD are bad games, I loved the first COD games, but after a while it’s the same formula and just too often (every damn year at the same time…). But least new Pokemon generations come out every 2-3 years. Sydney Ultrasyd Seriously, I love Mario, but eh : Mario 3D World ? Mario Bros U ? Luigi U ?? I’ve been playing Mario since the NES. back in the time, I was already jumping on heads and collecting coins. It’s just a question of taste dude. Why should we have to choose one tyle over an other ? i’d like all kind of games for my console. And sorry, Assassin’s Creed IV is nice, milking or not. gtosheex (see other comment) Xavier Lopez Chabelo But still it sells like hot cakes -_- Googs Disappointing, but expected. 00EpicGamer00 Hmm…I guess I’m going to have to get a PS4 now (not right this second, when this and more games I’m interested in come out.) Sucks this isn’t coming to Wii U…or at least PS3. oontz you wont be disappointed with the ps4, solid game machine. 00EpicGamer00 I know. I’m just waiting for more games I’m interested in to come out. Yoshi5081 Fuck Wii U -.- this got me tired… I don’t want comments under this… save your words! Nintendofreak words Rinslowe Classic… ACE I sold My Wii U last week DO IT!!!! nexxus6 They are making a 360/PS3 version, so lets wait and see until an official announcement comes out from Ubisoft. For some reason, companies are afraid to include WiiU when they announce anything “next-gen”. They are probably trying to amp up PS4 and Xbone owners by separating themselves from the WiiU to make the title sound that much more intense. Ubi still may slip a WiiU version out, but we know it will have zero advertising and backing besides the shelf it will sit on. Jon eh… I have to question what the quality of this game will be, the time frame between AC III to AC IV was quite quick…. now this one is coming even faster….. jhell wii u will get it Daniel Gonzalez Doubt this one. Perhaps the rumored AC Comet which is slated for 360 and PS3. jhell yeah maybe Gregg Nothing like marking to the uneducated. How is that NEXT GEN shaping up anyway? Guess no point getting a Wii U, X1, or PS4, unless you already have them…. oontz Next gen is awesome. Been loving my ps4 and my wiiu. leo Well its about time to buy a ps4 since wii u failing miserably . No 3rd party means no sales. Wii U is going to be coming in 3rd place this gen RichM This is so obvious it’s practically non-news. Daniel Gonzalez Despite Xbox One being slow on sales, eventually, it’ll pass the Wii U as well. With little third party support, Wii U will certainly be in last place. You can survive on 1st party, but you won’t be on top without third party help. nexxus6 All cinematics, I thought we would see some initial gameplay footage. Xavier Lopez Chabelo You know what? With THE DIVISION, at first I though it was a cinematic, but… So yeah, maybe you were watching real gameplay, at least except for the last part Sydney Ultrasyd Yeah, i watched The Division trailer again today. I wonder if they are using the same Snowdrop engine. It looks amazing, so realistic oontz You understand what “alpha footage” means right? It’s running in the engine. leo Nintendo is just screwing up soooo bad. the wii u should have been more powerful, nexxus6 It wouldn’t make a difference with the third parties. leo yeah your right. Nintendo would have fucked up either way nexxus6 Nintendo could have the most powerful system and third parties would still avoid it. greengecko007 Because even if they had better hardware, they’d screw something else up with their console like make it have completely different architecture and use their own specialized technology. Oh wait, that was the gamecube… leo NintenLogic Daniel Gonzalez Logic that apparently has flaws. Touya Black Power is not the issue, the issue is support. Obviously the fan base didn’t support AC3 and AC4 therefore, no AC U; similarly, the Arkham series took the same course. No support for Arkham City and Origins, therefore, no Arkham Knight. But hey as long as no one bitches about it all is good. greengecko007 I think power is absolutely the issue. Both this game and Arkham Knight are not going to have last gen versions. But why? If they really wanted to maximize their profit, they would port the games to those systems as they obviously have larger install bases. Obviously install base isn’t the issue, but rather developing the games on the platforms that they would actually work on. Yen Wii U is absolutely powerful enough to run any current game on PS4 and XBone. A game would have to push the PS4 to its limits before Wii U can’t run it. greengecko007 Source? Yen I don’t need one. I know for a fact that all three systems can run games from the other. The issue isn’t whether they can it’s optimization and how much it costs. Wii U can run anything the PS4 and XBone can, they just have to be optimized to be run on the Wii U. The most noticeable change would be downgrading the graphics. If you really need proof, here’s one by logic. We know that Wii U is more powerful than the PS3 and XBox 360. There are sources all around you don’t need me to google it. If PS4 and XBone games can be ported to PS3 and 360, they can be ported to Wii U. greengecko007 “The most noticeable change would be downgrading the graphics.” Then what’s the point? I’m sure the original Wii could run Killzone Shadow Fall if they made it 360p, got rid of AA, shaders, etc. Everything can be downgraded enough to work on weaker hardware, but if we are going to keep on using inferior technology why bother trying to improve it? “If PS4 and XBone games can be ported to PS3 and 360, they can be ported to Wii U” Sure, that makes sense, and I would agree to that. But developers are already moving away from last gen technology. Upcoming games are not going to be available on last gen systems. Nintendo fans already say they don’t want inferior versions of games, and don’t even buy games when they miss out on menial features. Do you think the Wii U could run upcoming games like Deep Down, The Witcher 3, The Elder Scrolls Online, etc without being so inferior that people would buy it? Yen Yes actually, I think it could run those games. Plus, there are people that play a game for the game and not because it looks good. The point is, Wii U can run those games, just with a slight downgrade in graphics and some time spent optimizing the game. I didn’t say that it would have to be a huge downgrade like going from 1080 down to 480. Wii U can run games at 1080. For a game that was built for PS4, it might need to be downgraded to 720. Point is, those games can still be ported. So power isn’t the main issue for not porting to Wii U. You claimed that Wii U should have been more powerful and I’m saying power isn’t the problem. greengecko007 Never said the Wii U should have been more powerful, but I have said that it is not powerful enough to run quality versions of PS4 and Xbox One games that are not multiplatform. I’m not a developer by any means, but it’s going to be hard to convince me that the Wii U could run games like Killzone Shadow Fall without suffering a major blow to quality. When the most recent Wii U game, Donkey Kong Country : Tropical Freeze, a 2D cartoon game, is 720p, I can’t imagine the Wii U running Killzone above 480p and having to remove a lot of visual affects. Yen Oops that was the original comment. I know developers can make it work if they want to. I also know DKC:TF could’ve been 1080p if they wanted to as well. I believe there was an article somewhere about why it wasn’t. Something about how they were focusing on getting 60fps more than 1080p. If Bayonetta 2 can run at 1080p I’m pretty sure DKC can. I think Wii U has the capability to run a lot more than we’ve seen. There’s just something holding it back. It’s the developers job to know what they have and figure out how to use it. greengecko007 But why couldn’t DK have been 1080p AND 60fps, instead of one or the other? That’s what I mean. Killzone Shadow Fall is 1080p AND 60fps and is far more gracphically demanding. “I think Wii U has the capability to run a lot more than we’ve seen.” I most certainly agree on this, and feel that a big problem is Nintendo being cheap. The thing is though, if not even 1st party developers can show off the Wii U’s real capabilities, then it’s only going to be harder to convince people that the Wii U is a viable console. Yen Again that was a choice. I don’t know why they didn’t they just decided not to. Developers are known to not do something just because they don’t think it’s worth it. Maybe 720 looked good enough to them? I don’t like a lot of the criticism Wii U and Nintendo has been getting lately. But one I do agree with, Nintendo could be doing way more. I understand reasons for why DKC isn’t 1080p, doesn’t mean I agree with it. I also think 3rd party aren’t doing their jobs either in making their game/port as good as it can be on the Wii U. greengecko007 I guess we just have different perspectives then, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m fine with the criticisms, and think a lot of them are justified. I find it strange that so many people on this site are offended by criticism toward a company that they do not own any part of. I also think a lot of people forget how the PS3 was initially bashed for being outrageously priced, hard to develop for, and how the PS Vita is still the butt of many jokes. Nintendo is hardly the only company getting criticized. jrob23 I can’t speak for others but I own NTDOY stock leo I heard upscaled 1080 4 killzone jrob23 Nintendo and their devs are behind the times. They are playing catch up. They are literally just now trying to wrap their heads around HD while the others have been doing so for years. I think that is why it’s not 1080p and also why the flow of games has been slow. They just aren’t capable of delivering 1st party quality they are used to with their current skill set. But they will catch up if they haven’t already done so with MK8 and Smash. I don’t think it’ll be enough to save the Wii U though, too late for that. matthew garcia So why would wii u get the 360 version of the game and not ps4. None of us here are developers and I’m sure they know something we dont. U have to remember when 360 and ps3 came out games looked like crap still. About 2 years in games started looking way better. Once ps4 hits about that time and it stops being held back by last gen consoles wii u will be in trouble. It kinda already is Yen “So why would wii u get the 360 version of the game and not ps4.” Could be lot’s of reasons. Maybe it’s easier to work with or maybe the architecture is more similar? If that’s what gives Wii U trouble then it’d be a little sad. It doesn’t matter if Wii U is less powerful as long as the games built for it are well designed and fit the system. Wii U games look awesome but because PS4 games look better people think Wii U games look crappy. They really don’t they just look different. Yes PS4 games will look even better once they start tapping into it’s real potential but that goes for the Wii U as well if developers are willing to take the time. jrob23 you can’t argue with stupid. The troll is strong with many here leo The only xbox one game that i know of that is being ported to xbox360 is titanfall. Give me one PS4 title please jrob23 COD Ghosts, BF4, AC4 and several more. Did you seriously just say that? Stooge leo all lead platforms for those games were xbox360 and ps3. You said ps4/xo games can be ported over to xbox360/ps3. So your telling me Ps3 can run infamous secon sun which was purely made ground up for ps4? Multi plats are the stupidest excuse to use. Of course they run on xbox360/ps3, because there is more of them than ps4/xo. More consoles = More $$$. So of course Ac4 IS a ”nextgen” title but really is it when you u just get a resolution boost and betterr fps? jrob23 no, Second Sun cannot run on PS360 but yes, it could run on a Wii U. Pretty much any of the Xbone game thus far can too. Yen Um… games out there that are multiplatform? jrob23 the proof is also in the fact that Rayman Legends looks as good on Wii U as the PS4/xbone and despite minimal dev effort the versions of COD Ghosts and AC4 are in the neighborhood. If you need more proof than that you are a hating troll with no life and should get off the Wii U centric site. matthew garcia I just purchases infamous and I highly doubt it can run that game. Now I’m sure it can run a lower tech version of it but by the way it looks on ps4 no way it could handle it. infamous looks very impressive from what I playing Yen Well, only the developers know exactly how much lower it’d have to be. My point was more, I don’t think power is why they’re not porting this game. Making the Wii U a more powerful system wouldn’t change that. matthew garcia I’m sure it’s alot of politics also. Nintendo must have done something for everyone to give them the cold shoulder Xavier Lopez Chabelo How do you know that? It can, but with lower framerates, less resolution, etc. Better go and buy a ps4 or a gaming PC Daniel Gonzalez Exactly. Why would someone want a lower quality product? It’s always good to have a second platform on hand. jrob23 how do you know that? Yen I know that because I know how technology works. You mentioned gaming PC (I do own one btw which is why I don’t have a PS4), what do you do when your frame rate is low while playing a game on your PC? The first thing to try could be to lower the resolution. So if you have a less powerful PC, you can sacrifice resolution for frame rate. Does that make it a different or lesser game? I don’t think so. Same concept here. Yes, Wii U isn’t as powerful hardware wise. I’m not arguing it is. What I’m saying is that there are areas you can cut back on so the game run smoothly on Wii U. It would still be the same game. Anyone who doesn’t judge a game based on the resolution would be able to enjoy it just as much no matter what system its on. matthew garcia I do think wii u is weak but nintendo never releases anything with a sense of realism. Most of there games are just cartoons. It’s hard to really show alot of detail in those games Yen Hmm I disagree with that. The art style is different with most Nintendo games that’s for sure, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be as detailed. Pikmin 3 for example is a very cartoony game, but the environment looks amazing imo. It can also be argued that Zelda TP and SS, or the Metroid Prime games have a lot of realism in their environment. I’d be interested to see what the Wii U can do with those. matthew garcia Nah man those are still cartoons. I mean like the last of us or skyrim or metal gear dark souls. Xavier Lopez Chabelo Lets not forget the Wii U´s architecture, maybe its more complicated to program in that platform Brandon Resolution is not the problem. These games like batman arkham knight and ACU, are using more advance engines. AI, physics, certain gameplay mechanics cant run on the wii u, and developers are not going to waste there time on dumbing down a game, because there trying to make the best version of there game. leo Power does play in. If the Wii U Cant run it. Then OBVIOUSLY they cant release the game Daniel Gonzalez Exactly. leo Power does play in. If the Wii U Cant run it. Then OBVIOUSLY they cant release the game. Rinslowe That comment would be true in this context, if only supposing the Wii U couldn’t run it… In this case, can we be 100% certain that “power does play in” to the equation? Xavier Lopez Chabelo Its the power dude, and not only that but the architecture of that console, the DELUSIONAL FANBASE, the lazy developers, NINTENDO itself with Iwata and their leaders, etc. jrob23 no..it’s really not darkcreap Bad news indeed. I bought both AC3 and 4 for the WiiU. I guess low sales on WiiU are to blame. Nintendo should’ve done better to promote the games and attract the adequate audience. nexxus6 Ubisoft should be advertising their own product. They didn’t do anything to pump up the WiiU versions of their games. They are going to give WatchDogs the same lack of publicity. Daniel Gonzalez If they do give the Wii U good publicity and advertising and it fails to sell, will you and other Nintendo fans complain that they didn’t do enough? Rinslowe Again a loaded question. Hypothetical in nature as what you are describing hasn’t actually happened. Therefore it would be unwise to suppose an outcome of your thinking… leo Ubi should atleast try Daniel Gonzalez I agree, they should. If it fails to sell despite that, then Nintendo fans should find a new excuse for third party issues. Rinslowe “Excuse” is a biased term here Gonzalez. There are real issues, points and reasons as to why the Wii U and arguably Nintendo are struggling with third parties. It’s not something you can trivialise within stereotypical generalisations… It just makes you look like a low key hater of some sort. dforce79 I think it should be a mixture of both. Nintendo advertising what games they have out for the system to make the system more appealing (beyond their own that is) and Ubi promoting their game on the system so people know they can get that experience there as well (they did spend money on porting it after all). i hate seeing advertisements for games that are on multiple systems, including Wii U, but the Wii U is magically missing. As far as 3rd parties are concerned Wii U is the redheaded step child that they ignore but every now and again give scraps to. starwars360 MARIO KART 8 COMING 30TH MAY!!!! CAN’T WAIT!!!!! Hehehehehehehehehe matthew garcia Lol I’m sure u can’t wait considering the last major wii u title came out in febuary that’s along time to wait Nintendo Dragon You’re telling me it’s taking too damn long.I’d settle for some damn HD versions of old games if they made them like 20 or 30 bucks of course matthew garcia Yeah me to man Nintendo Dragon I love Nintendo, but they really, really, really need to replace their management it’s just not working. val berger I’m kinda on your side but gotta say that’s the way Nintendo did it for decades now and with the WiiU they got 99problems but the major-game-launch-schedule ain’t one. It has been always like this. months between a major release. During the SNES era, that wasn’t a big deal as we didn’t really know anything different. But I guess it was Sony’s PSX which just speeded up that process. And over the years that launchcycle became more and more ridiculous and on the Wii I already felt like there’s nothing ever coming out for that console which actually isn’t even that wrong. After the Wii era I own less Wii games as I did after the gamecube-era which is strange as the latter was far shorter and the GCN used to have like a quarter of the success the Wii had. And on the WiiU everything seems to be kinda Gamecubey to me, as there are at least a few major third party-AAA titles available, I still haven’t finished games like ZombiU, Arkham City, Most Wanted U and not even bought Black flag, so there’s quite some non-Nintendo games to play. The thing is, that I don’t really think Nintendo has the resources to throw out a major 1st party game every two weeks and in the end neither sony nor MS do. The competition just has a better plan for third party support and exclusive content from them, stuff Nintendo prefers to handle on their own, which isn’t such a bad thing but causes these huge holes in their calendar. oontz “During the SNES era, that wasn’t a big deal as we didn’t really know anything different.” No, during the SNES era you couldn’t find a developer who WASN’T making games for SNES. Now it’s hard to find ones that are making them for the wiiu. Completely opposite. val berger mmmmh yes and no. wouldn’t say complete opposite, but yeah, SNES was quite the place to be for devs. I was more talking about 1st party support there as during the SNES era, Nintendo’s own gameschedule didn’t really bother anyone as much as it does today. Sure, might also have been because of more 3rd party support but I for example didn’t play too many 3rd party games back then and still, although I was in the very best age for doing nothing but playing videogames, I didn’t need more games released than they did at that time. Today after they released NSMBU, Pikmin 3, W101, SM3DW, TloZ:WWHD and DKTF within a year, people are complaining as if they haven’t released anything, and for today’s standards, they even might be right. oontz “after they released NSMBU, Pikmin 3, W101, SM3DW, TloZ:WWHD and DKTF within a year” Actually those games were within a period of 15 months. 2 of which (NSMBU and WW-HD) were basically just upgrades of older games. Regardless it still worked out to a new game every 2.5 months. Which in a normal situation isn’t an issue but when Nintendo is the sole supporter of the wiiu… those gaps between releases start to seem much longer than they should be. Shaise Well, AC4 sold poorly on Wii U. And Nintendo still needs more aggressive leadership. MetroidZero Wait…wait…wait…another AC??? Touya Black Yep. RichM You know what? This has nothing to do with the Wii U and everything to do with the Wii. Sure, the Wii sold like hot cakes, but these franchises totally skipped the Wii because of no HD and so the whole install base is already with Sony and Microsoft or the PC. HD is here to stay and motion control was cool for a bit and then phased out. Nintendo has just come to the HD table but it’s too late for these franchises. Besides, why did we buy our Wii U’s in the first place? It wasn’t for this rehashed/same game stuff. It was for Nintendo games like the ones coming out this year. MK8, SSB and Zelda (maybe). We need more of these 1st party games or else no one is going to see the need to get the system. This year we have some good games coming, but next year we need to see Metroid, Kirby, Star Fox, F-Zero, Pokemon, bring back Turok, bring back Earthbound, bring back Eternal Darkness, get Square Enix to do a new Chrono Trigger (pay for it), do some HD versions of N64 games, bring all past console games to the eshop (Mainly N64 and Gamecube as promised), and fix the Miiverse. Is that too much to ask? Sydney Ultrasyd I agree only partially. 1st, I think they everyone has rehashed games. I was playing Mario Bros U and 3D World again today, the mechanics stay the same. Find 3 stars, get coins, jump on heads … I know no game with music more rehashed than Mario. And I think it’s always better when you can play Nintendo games AND 3rd party support. I really don’t want to buy several consoles. I think you are underestimating the number of people who would like to see good 3rd party games. With statments like “why did we buy our Wii U’s in the first place >> It was for Nintendo games like the ones coming out this year”, we show maybe sometimes too much that, indeed, we don’t need 3rd party games, so it’s not a big issue if devs skip the Wii U, right ? I think that it wasn’t too late when the Wii U was released, whatever was made with the Wii. With a better line-up at launch, maybe things would be different now. I think that no one was reluctant to make games on Wii U at the begening, or even before it was released. I’m really looking for great and amazing Nintendo games. Part of the issue, I think, is that they have to impress people and show that what 3rd party want to deliver is technically possible on Wii U. We can’t blame the developers too much, I think that Nintendo has to demonstrate what the Wii U is able to do. Technically, but also with the GamePad of course. Can’t wait for the new Zelda for this ! I’m not excited by HD remakes though, because they are damn expensive and this is rehashed games (and I love playing on original hardware so much). But next year, even with great Nintendo games, it will be too late, because many will already have make the choice to play on other platform :/ But ehh, we’ll have 1st party games. Ace J finally someone other then me realized that super mario 3d world and super mario bros U is the SAME GAME. leo Yeah because Mario platformers aren’t re-hashed . Xavier Lopez Chabelo I did it because we were going to see the Nintendo games on HD and “apparently” all the GREAT THIRD PARTY SUPPORT…. Ace J i bought a wii u because nintendo promised better 3rd party support. so far i’m being let down left and right. GregoryTheRainMaker It’s the norm…so yeah. LJay Who cares? AC games are dull n simple, quite good story but run to one flashing green thing to another flashing green thing-sheesh yawn-give me metroid,X an most importantly zelda. Xavier Lopez Chabelo Still, its a game that this semideath console needs dude. greengecko007 Ubisoft has stated that they still plan on supporting last gen consoles for a while. Although Unity probably won’t be coming to the Wii U, there have been rumors to suggest that 2 separate AC games could be in the works. Regardless, whatever games Ubisoft plans to bring to last gen consoles, being the PS3 and 360, I would expect to be on the Wii U as well. ActivesiN I have assassin creed 3 and 4 on Wii U, and its really disappointing not to get this version coming to the console. hopefully that other version going to 360/ps3 is also coming to Wii U themizarkshow Not surprising. Your article was dead on with reasons why they won’t support it any further out than Watch_Dogs (if that even happens). To make truly “next gen” games, you have to drop support for PS3, 360, and unfortunately WiiU in a lot of cases. Here’s hoping they tailormake some experiences for the platform though. That would do better with the install base anyway. Lil J Moore Milking Petri So far, I have bought AC games for Wii U just to support, so I’m ok with this. And if that “last-gen” AC game does come to Wii U, I’m not buying it. BIG Franky huh? wait, what? so… you bought the AC games to support, but if another one comes out, you wont? Petri If they are making 2 different AC games, I dont really care for the cash in and run version of the game, even if it would be just to support. Sure, WIi U can’t handle the same graphical detail as PS4 and xbone, but it still could run those games if optimized. Sydney Ultrasyd If optimized… This is a good question. I think everyone wants to know the answer. I really don’t know ! Daniel Gonzalez It could be, but the bigger issue is sales. Last one didn’t sell well on Wii U. jrob23 it can handle anything the others are doing right now. It takes more time, effort and money that devs aren’t willing to devote. Big difference. Come 2016 the differences between PS4 and Wii U will be stark…Xbone not so much. Hopefully there will be a new console by then as I can’t imagine the Wii U surviving past 2015. It will have hit the consumer with all its big guns by then to no avail I fear Petri I’m afraid the industry can never evolve to the point where it can use the hardware we presently have (PC included) to the full potential. Making games is just getting so expensive. Miss the times when it was more about the games and less about satisfying investors. jrob23 not sure. I think DKCR and Xenoblade were able to max out the Wii and TLOU maxed out the PS3. But I get what you are saying, it takes commitment and money and that is a rare combo devs will rarely give Petri John Romero claims that he could still get more out of last gen hardware. I do hope that this transition to x86 architecture will mean cheaper development costs, but hopefully devs and publishers wont cut corners, just because some aspects has come cheaper. And hopefully Nintendo follows them with their next console. Even though they most probably could pull it off, it does not help to be the only strange duck on the bunch. Of course I don’t mean they should drop gamepad or Wii motes, or trying new ways to play games. But there is a lot for developers to learn, for example, I hear that multithreading, coding for multiple CPU cores is insanely difficult. jrob23 Anything more they get out of the last gen console is not due to the tech but more due to their understanding and skill levels. I suppose it is close to being the same thing. I don’t think TLOU could look that much better. But if that was ported to PS4 would instantly jump in quality. The Wii U is fine for what it is and the games Nintendo makes. This gen just won’t see nearly the same numbers as in the past and it’s not the Wii U tech that is holding it back, it’s Nintendo devs and marketing that are just behind the times by half a gen. They will either catch up by Holiday 2015 or the Wii U is toast and they will catch up with the next console imho Donaald Can’t say I didn’t see that coming. ETeach Whatever, Ubisoft’s been leaving a bad taste in my mouth lately anyway. I can’t say I won’t miss AC, but I can live without playing another one. steveb944 I knew it! We saw the signs since we didn’t get DLC this time around. So much for me spending $100+ on this series for my Wii U, it was good while it lasted. Mario Ahh! The French revolution. Ducked Well I can just buy it on my PS4 when I get it, but sad for Wii U owners. But really, its not like Wii U owners play these kind of games anyways. Daniel Gonzalez Yep, always good to have a PS4 or Xbox One to satisfy your third party cravings. Arthur Jarret Or a decent PC for third party cravings with better graphics, cheaper price, free online, free mods and user-generated online servers after the devs pull the plug to force you to buy the yearly update. Due to exclusives – I’ll be a 6-device gamer this gen. Daniel Gonzalez Well, sucks for those I suppose who don’t have a good PC. Speaking from my own experiences, I come prepared for those situations. Ducked I can relate to that, who wants to sit at a desk all day Daniel Gonzalez Exactly. I mean I don’t mind sitting down for a while, but not all day. I don’t know about everyone, but my body feels uncomfortable after a while and wants to lay back on a comfy couch with my legs up, playing a game. oontz You could connect your pc to your home theatre. I have a few mates that do that. Looks brillant on a 50″ LED. Rinslowe That’s what I’ve done in my cave. Ultra comfy. Seats up to 16 people…. oontz Yeah I don’t have a PC in my home theatre… ps4, ps3 and wiiu are fine for that. But I do game at my mates house who has his PC connected to his massive LED and we use XB360 controllers to play steam big picture and it’s lovely. Granted the price difference between his PC and a PS4 is about 1000usd so it’s quite pretty 😉 Arthur Jarret Yup, that’s how I PC game. Made a small box (smaller tgan my fat PS3) and… did you know the PC had joysticks? All hooked up to my beamer, which projects to the living room wall opposite my too comfy couch (too comfy as I often fall to sleep on it) oontz You forgot free spyware, free malware and free viruses. Daniel Gonzalez Free errors, free DRM, free crashes too. Arthur Jarret Also: free games, free scanners, free level building tools… oh, and free PC (the bossman pays, I need a graphical powerhouse for my job!) Also, full backwards compatibility without having to re-buy a game. I can still play Space quest and Zork on my current PC! Ducked Yep exactly. You get the best of both worlds. Plus Uncharted. 504HotBoy I don’t know about that man. My 8th Gen library is looking sweet http://postimg.org/image/hmdz9b5ib/ and it will only continue to grow (minus the Xbox One exclusives). NkoSekirei except for me dude i do play those games on my wii u Ducked Well its a part of the console wars. You either miss out on exclusives, or third party games. Unless you can afford both. Sylux It’s quite a shame, I read it yesterday on a dutch “general newssite” they wrote about a leaked screenshot and wrote about no mention of Wii U. I can’t blame ubisoft though. I’ll have to get it on ps4 probably then. I have only 3rd party games on my Wii U although there aren’t many it’s all I have at this moment I don’t have a single 1st party title on my Wii U for the time being. I also have AC3 and 4, but looks like it’s back to sony PS for AC5 and AC4.5… tom Well UBI. I did my part ! Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rayman Legends, AC 4 day one last year! I also plan to buy Child of light Day one! It is sad. But i think it is a mixture of Wii U owners, Nintendo( not advertising games) and the developers( delays, no DLC and bugs) fault for less than desirable sales. ben I tried to support Ubi, but I got stung with a couple of the games. The best 3rd party game ive got for the wii U is Need for speed most wanted U/ jrob23 eh, could be that the majority of Nintendo fans simply don’t like the games. Sadly, it is becoming very apparent with this gen that fanboys like 1st party games period. Sure, during the fad of party games they might have purchased 3rd party. But that fad is over. It’s all online now and Nintendo is very much behind the times. They are still focusing on local co op (not that that is inherently bad) i.e. SM3DW, Wiii U Party, Wii Sports U, etc. when that phase of gaming is over. It’s weird how on one hand they can be so innovative and on another so behind tom You have a great point! Also Nintendo missed a HUGE opportunity to make Super Mario 3d World and Pikmin 3 with online play!!!! I have no doubt those games would have sold WAY more!! ben Sooner or later devs are going to have to realize that even though the PS4 is more powerful than the other consoles, graphics like these are going to cause frame rate issues. Game play and quality of game content is all that matters after the bright lights have faded. If the New AC is a great game that not only looks good but is a vast improvement on game play and pacing then that will be next gen, not just pretty pictures. leo I think the whole 30 FPS scenario is going to happen eventually ben What do you mean? The developers will start cutting back on the visuals to give customers better games, or that people will just accept 30fps and frame drops as long as the games look pretty? Nintendo Dragon Wait is the new Assassin a girl?? Rinslowe PC it is… If it’s any good, that is. Viktor Comrade Von Reapper Just like Watch dogs, beauty “trailer”, but the final game gonna be like that? leo ohh yeah you know degraded graphics. And then we’ll have ubisoft saying ” Worse graphics? If anything there better” TheWichi What a surprise!!! OMG! I didnt see that one coming! Jeez! leo Now were going to have people saying” yeah fuck AC I didn’t even like it” when in secret there thinking” damn why not on wiiu” Daniel Gonzalez On this site, there’s no doubts there. oontz Or… “this just shows deveopers are fucking lazy!” Sheiky Baby I feel like Nintendo has obviously known this would come, and have big plans for us after Mario Kart 8. I think they’ve been quietly working on something relating to the Eshop, and it’ll be the first step into their surprises for the Wii U. If that is the case, I’ll be happy with that. There’s honestly nothing on those other consoles that gets my interest. I gave Titanfall a chance, and I just felt like… “what am I doing?”. Infamous bored the hell out of me. The only thing I’m looking forward to, is Batman AK. Once Mario Kart is out, I’ll be glued to my couch. That game never gets boring, and having online keeps you playing even more. I cannot wait. Rinslowe Honestly. I think they all need to come back from holiday and get to work… Put their house back in order. oontz well said. David Horowitz Is this ANOTHER full length Assassins Creed game!? How do they generate games this quickly!? Kenshin0011 They’ve been working on this game for 3 years David Horowitz So if there’s a next one, they’re already two years into it? Kenshin0011 Yes David Horowitz And if there’s a next one after this next one, then they’re already 1 year into it!? That’s working too far ahead. How many teams does Ubisoft have? oontz “How many teams does Ubisoft have?” A lot. They have studios all around the world. The Devourer of Dimensions Ubisoft Montreal are usually the main studio that works the most on numerical titles, when it comes to others; it’s the smaller teams around the world. discuss Dammit …. I love this serie 🙁 HydePark1980 I’m pretty sure I’ll still be playing MK8 when this game drops. I’m not looking for the same annual releases on my PS4, these third parties are gonna have to step up their efforts if they want my money this time around.. FutureFox It’s like why even buy an AC game when there’s a new down the pipeline. Its one of the reasons I’ve stopped playing CoD. BF4 looks great but same idea. Plus ACU has all the knowledge and experience of developing for a next-gen console more so than AC4. It’s a shame because I actually wanted to play AC4 when I got the PS4, hinging on WatchDog’s release. Guess I’ll be skipping AC4. The Devourer of Dimensions Or you could buy AC IV? FutureFox I don’t have a PS4 yet. ACE I am glad i sold my Wi U last week this prove I was right ben I don’t believe you owned one. You may as well sell your PS4 too, no games for that either. oontz Funny as I am loving my ps4 gaming experiences. ben I was not attacking the PS4, I was attacking the troll, when are you two ever going to learn to read? oontz simmer down. I was being sarcastic, towards your sarcastic comment. ACE I am not a troll And I Sold my Wii U After See Batman Arkham Knight wasnt coming to Wii U (BTW i like Rocksteady) ben So, you bought a WIi U to Play Arkham games even though they were all on Xbox and Ps3? Why would anyone buy a Nintendo for games other than the first and second party? It’s been like this for most of my life. Daniel Gonzalez Quite touchy aren’t ya? tom Perhaps if Ubisoft released their inferior AAA games( wii u) version in particular. They should consider selling them cheaper (40-50 bones tops) becasue of delayed/major bugs or missing DLC/ lack there of. Maybe the sales figure will improve greatly. Watch Dogs would be a great place to start with the Wii U version. There is no way Watchdogs will sell well on the Wii U version with such a delay! Also Ubisoft and other 3rd party companies need to be more realistic with sale expectations with all things considered. . Just an idea. Daniel Gonzalez I’m quite sure even Nintendo has sales expectations for the Wii U and even it’s games. Interesting idea, but then it would have to apply to everyone, and not just third parties like Ubisoft. Dark-Link73 Seeing Ubisoft dropping support for the Wii U gives me that same unsettling sinking feeling I got when movie studios slowing started dropping support for HD-DVD in favor of Blu-ray; specially when WB announced complete exclusivity toward BD over HD-DVD. I’m just thinking right now: “here we go again.” 🙁 Daniel Gonzalez Well, Blu Ray was the better choice overall. It holds more space. So I don’t think anyone was surprised when it won that war. Dark-Link73 BD didn’t win because it was “the better choice overall”. Sure BD had more capacity, but a lot the features (such as the online connectivity and interactivity) that BD movies offered later after winning, HD-DVD offered from the beginning (HDi allowed for those features, and more, from the start while BD-J was still implementing them). HD-DVD was also cheaper to produce vs BD. BD movies took longer to lead than HD-DVD movies (Toshiba players had faster loading times BD players)The video quality was better on HD-DVD than on BD at the time, most BD movies couldn’t do pure black features right looking washed out, and most BD movies (at the time) looked grainy compared to their HD-DVD counterparts. But there were two main reasons for BD win over HD-DVD: 1.- PS3: This is an interesting one because while having BD support included allowed BD to get a huge foothold on households (people who bought PS3 were basically “forced” to adopt BD over HD-DVD. Most PS3 consumers thought: “since we already had BD, why even bother trying out HD-DVD?”), the same inclusion of BD made the PS3 look like a “BD player that can play games” as suppose to be the other way around, causing the PS3 to struggle in the beginning. Microsoft didn’t include a HD-DVD player from the start because they didn’t have complete faith in the format, instead they released the HD-DVD add-on. If M$ had released a built in HD-DVD from the start, we would be watching HD-DVD movies instead of BD. 2.- Money! Money! Money!: The reason why Disney, New Line Cinema, and all movie studios that supported BD exclusively in the beginning was because HD-DVD was Region Free vs BD being Region Locked. Unlike video game studios, movie studios acquire distribution rights according to the region. For instance, StudioCannal has distribution rights in Europe for a lot of Hollywood films, while the Hollywood studios release their own movies in NA. Region Free HD-DVD movies allowed people to import a version of the movie with better features than the local, reducing the revenue for the local distributor studio. In my opinion, BD won not because it was “the better/superior format” (it wasn’t), they won because of the many mistakes Toshiba made and the greed of American movie studios. Daniel Gonzalez Well, that’s your opinion. In my eyes, it was the better media. I had no problems with HD-DVD. I just never saw it as impressive in comparison to Blu-Ray. Dark-Link73 Actually, that isn’t my “opinion” per say, it is the collected “opinion” of reviewers, analysts, aficionados, and many other contemporaries of the era. Many of their “opinions”, in the form of reviews, blogs, and other articles; can still be found on the internet. Something I’ve learned is that, in research and debate, an individual’s “opinion” it’s not worth anything. Doesn’t matter how much we’d like to think so. The Wii won, the PS2 won, the PSX won, the SNES won, the Game Boy won, VHS won. NONE of those machines and/or formats were considered superior than their competition and yet they won. Just because Blu-ray won, doesn’t make it the better format. Winning isn’t everything kid. Daniel Gonzalez I never said winning was everything. My opinion is my opinion. No use making a novel out of this. Relax kid. jrob23 nice schooling! Kenshin0011 What’d you expect? Not only would it take a ton of extra time and money to port Unity to Wii U, but the Wii U version wouldn’t look nearly as good as the PS4/Xbone version. What will surprise me is if the 360/PS3 version is not on Wii U. Now that’d be a low blow to Nintendo Daniel Gonzalez There is no 360/PS3 version. Just PS4, Xbox One and PC. Kenshin0011 Yeah I know, but I think it’s rumored that there’s an entirely different game called Assassin’s Creed Comet that’ll just be on PS3/360. Maybe that’s not true, probably isn’t if Ubisoft hasn’t said anything Daniel Gonzalez I doubt it, but I guess we’ll see soon enough. oontz Yeah they are saying that there will be two different new AC games. One for next gen and one for last gen. I guess Ubi doesn’t feel the wiiu is next gen enough. This is surely a trend that will only continue as we move forward and the 360/ps3 are phased out. Rinslowe Sales returns or lack of and Nintendo’s own reluctance to get in the fight is the only reason why Wii U misses out on further ubi support in future. it’s not a power debate. oontz “it’s not a power debate” So far the experiences I have had on both my machines tell a different story. I really don’t think the wiiu will be able to compete visually now and in the future. I still enjoy my wiiu but seeing what’s coming down the pipeline in terms of game visuals, and can’t see the wiiu being able to keep up. Rinslowe That‘s actually not what I was getting at and further just assumes titles going head to head… oontz Sorry I was speaking directly about games that are created for PS4/XB1/PC and not Wiiu. Daniel Gonzalez Very true. Wii U won’t keep up in the long term in terms of visuals. It’s not the whole reason why third parties gave up on it, but certainly one of them. James060394 *Sigh* The Wii U is the Wii without the USP. Yes the gamepad is the USP, but it hasn’t took off like the Wiimote did due to a variety of factors such as marketing (I’ve yet to see a single advert for the console in the UK, not including game adverts) and the majority of people have no idea what it is. My family and friends don’t, but they sure as heck know what a PS3/PS4 and an original Wii is. Such a shame. Sydney Ultrasyd Same here. No one knows it, no one gives a fuck. oontz You can just make this a weekly column, because as the 360/ps3 era is slowly phased out, so will the ports for wiiu. It will be just like last gen all over again. We’ve already seen it with the new batman and now the new AC. This trend will not end and will only continue to create a schism between games made available to the wiiu and the XB1/PS4. Rinslowe This may well be the case. But if so Nintendo would still have a chance at making Wii U more and more relevant regardless, should they choose to invest more in exclusive third party content. Full AAA titles. Two or three per year, including their own first and second party offerings and a real shot at N64 and Gamecube remasters/ remakes. In fact from a technical point of view it would be more feasible for a studio to port down from next gen platforms on multiplats than to port over or up from current gen. That is because regardless of what the haters want to believe, the architectures of PS4/Xbox One and Wii U are closer in feature set compatibility than last gen…. Of course this is not the reason why Wii U will not see many more third party multiplats. But the result is still the same, being that Wii U will not likely see too many more third party multiplats… Then funding more exclusives, releasing more first party content etc… Is really their only available offensive options. Plus the continued cultivation of indies and back catalogue titles – including remasters like WWHD… Mr Ninty next gen doesnt refer to the technology in a console but its refers to a next generation. like grandfather->father->son. if the son listens to techno music and therefore he is a retard that doesnt mean the son is past/last gen. its still a next gen son only a dumb one. if you look a the videogame history its nes->snes->n64->ngc->wii-wiiu ps1->ps2->ps3->ps4 xbox->xbox360->xbox1 we are in the 8th console generation the first 2generation dont matter because those ware before the gamecrash. but still matter in the timeline. after the crash nintendo ruled the earth and so on, as gamer you should know the history after the crash or else…. but what i wanted to say is. the wiiu x1 and ps4 are all 8th generation next gen consoles. one is slightly weaker then the other, one is slightly beter then the other and one is slightly spying one you. and for all those nitwits out there that always gets a hard one if a console has beautiful colours. the legend of zelda: ocarina of time is still the best game ever made. 64bits and 100%nintendo Marcus Larsson I have no idea what this have to do with anything but i agree that OoT is the greatest game ever. M64 is the best platformer ever too. But it Seems Nintendo wont rule the earth anytime soon again, SamFZGames Why is this Wii U news? Jonathan George Anaya Because, like everyone in this thread is saying, the WiiU is pretty much dead at this point. No third Party titles and only 5% of Indies are actually interested in developing for the WiiU. the WiiU will only be getting 4 Nintendo first party titles a year Marcus Larsson Latest Wii(ll) U (not buy me?) news. The wii u lost Ubisoft today and no longer have any third party-support. Nintendo will focus on their indie-Support and 5 exclusive titles a year. gerome nothing is coming to the wii u. nothing will come the way i do. asdfg Ok I already lost any hope I had left for the Wii U. Let’s just hope Nintendo get their shit straight with their next console. Vriska Serket “Alpha Footage” (Its really not. Its not even footage. Its just a cg anim8ion) Xavier Lopez Chabelo Think again. Do you remember THE DIVISION? WellWisher Can’t blame them. It would have taken a lot of work to get it running on the Wii U and looking at the sales of previous entries on the system, it just wouldn’t have been worth it. It’s really up to Nintendo to sell the system now. FutureFox And what a bang up job Nintendo’s been doing on that front so far. Thomas Vienna Lol, I just got one of these this Christmas, why would I even think about getting the next one yet? Andre R from now on, the wii u will stand on the side , watching ps4, xbox one an pc race agains each other. i recent felt that the pc was a big step ahead of ps3 and xbox 360. the wii u is just ahead of them, and the ps4 and xbox one is far ahead line with pc , so, if nintendo isnt coming up with something extraordinary soon, they are doomed zajac1661 The only reason it is “on the line” with a pc, is because the entire game development and focus, is aimed at engines able to run on all platforms. We already know that high-end hardware is way more heavy, than what you see in the “next gen” consoles. fabio when the first of the series would be released, also shows these graphs, and when released had a very big downgrade. I want to see when this is released David Lein Okay seriously, why is this even big news. Wii U got Deus, Mass Effect, Arkham, and CoD and no one friggin bought it anyways. Oh wow big loss. Lets face it, we as a consumer market just hate nintendo. We didn’t go crazy when Resident Evil 4 was an exclusive for Gamecube, we made Eternal Darkness a money loser, and next up, Bayonetta 2 and X will end up putting those companies at a loss. THe consumer market just doesn’t like Nintendo period. IT’s not about “graphics” not about being powerful enough, or lacking third party support. In people’s eyes, Nintendo just isn’t a desirable brand anymore. If Nintendo had the ability to pay Rockstar tons of money to make GTA a Nintendo exclusive, hell we still wouldn’t buy the damn system. It’s true, other than handhelds and the original Wii ever since the N64 days, people think Nintendo sucks. Sony’s advantage is “branding” they can give us shitty games for year and we’d still buy the system til the heavy hitters come a year later. Rob Pretty simple here.. the WiiU just doesn’t run these powerful engines. That’s all, no WiiU version because of this. Random12multi What if all the third party developers are teaming up agianst Nintendo ._. NowhereStarr14 Dang it, I wanna climb Notre Dame like Quasimodo! Link Slayer I don’t think the Wii U could handle this game. Its super sad but now that developers are moving to more powerful and advanced machines Ps4, Xbox One, and high end PC’s Wii U wont see any true Multiplats just like the Wii. Maybe it will get watered down versions or versions that are good but created for just the Wii U. But the Wii U just dont have the Tech to handle future games that are Multiplat just like the Wii. I’m not bashing I love Nintendo games Zelda is my favorite franchise ever but I think Nintendo made really bad Decisions when making the Wii U. They had a chance to really wow gamers but just didnt do it. Its last gen tech with a touch screen controller “Which I like” as in terms of Hardware its not nowhere near the Ps4 and Xbox One. Just like the Wii was tech from the previous Generation with a motion controller. Metalica said it right Sad But True! Were going to have to be wowed by Nintendo First party and Third party games made just for the Wii U. JuleyJules It’s sad seeing this once again but we won’t really know what’s happening until Ubisoft gives more info later on. Sounds like déjà vu though as COD:Ghosts was announced for everything but Wii U and weeks or months later it was confirmed for Wii U. Perhaps Nintendo wants it to be announced later or during a Direct – or it’s skipping Wii U. I’m sure we’ll find out eventually. Haris Devine Ghozlani Well, it isn’t coming for PS3 and Xbox 360 either, so I think the absence of the game on Wii U is justifiable due to technical issues. Mwgly Ok. so, this is alpha footage. i guess, the finished game will look even more “next gen”… BUT, who the fuck is supposed to believe, that this would actually run on xbone or ps4? oontz Ummm watching the trailer and comparing it to the ps4 games I am playing now… Yeah it will run fine. Maybe not on xb1 but ps4 no problem . Gustaf Molin Assassins Creed is unbelievably bad so we’ll pass this one along. GABRIEL GARCIA Hey check this out !!!! http://youtu.be/FyusSlPf6rI David Lein Oh please, even if this game made it on the Wii U you’ll still hear “Wahh They got no third party support”. The consumer market should be honest in saying they don’t like Nintendo instead of making stupid excuses and acting like they’re getting a Revolutionary Gaming Experience playing a Call of Duty on the PS4.
