Animal Crossing: New Leaf has only been available on the Nintendo 3DS since June, but it has been a resounding success for Nintendo. Despite that, the company is looking to the future and is now deciding which platform will get the next game. Animal Crossing began its life as a home console title on GameCube, before jumping to the Nintendo DS with Animal Crossing: Wild World.

The Wii also saw its own release with Animal Crossing: City Folk, so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say we may be looking at the beginnings of an Animal Crossing Wii U title. Here’s what series creator Katsuya Eguch had to say:

“We have already started thinking about what to do next, but there is no concrete direction yet. First, we need to decide which hardware to develop a new Animal Crossing for, and then we want to use that hardware and find out what it’s capable of and what kind of features it provides. Then we can start thinking of elements of Animal Crossing and how we can realise them using the hardware. So until we discover these new inventions, we will not decide the direction.”

With the Wii U being Nintendo’s first high definition console, if Animal Crossing Wii U is the next title in development, I hope the team plans on taking advantage of that fact. Every Animal Crossing title to date past the Game Cube version has had a rolling pin world that the player runs around in, bringing new things into view as you move closer to them. The Wii U has the power to support a fully rendered world without the need for panels or rolling pin worlds, which would be a first in the series.

What would you like to see from Animal Crossing Wii U?

  • Gameonfool

You need this game to add to your rainbow and pink fairy wii u, lets hope it’s not released after march when wii u is discontinued

    • starwars360

I had planned with Mario, Link, Master Chief, Batman, Donkey Kong, Ratchet and Adam Jensen. They enjoy what you talked about and we agreed it is time we make new secret device and plant your shitty basement and we all exciting to press device in 2 secs blow up then you dies!!!!!

We hate you and many people here agreed. We hate troll like you. Not because of you bashed on Nintendo and Sony for Wii U and PS Vita but the fact you talked really horrible rubbish.

We so exciting that Nintendo still around here forever. Life 4 Gaming and Life 4 Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Nintendoplaystation

You did it, you fed the troll. I thought we was all ignoring him. I agree with you though.

        • Gameonfool

You need to be a real gamer

        • Maxime Lemieux

So close to a hungry troll, I agree…

      • Gameonfool

I’m not springer whoever and I don’t bash sony

  • Maxime Lemieux

I think animal crossing should actually be a system OS, you open your console and the first thing you know, you pick your mii and you wake up in your house… don’t have a game ? Just wonder around in the city and play animal crossing. HAve one ? Just click on the console in your house and start playing it ! Seeing how they want people to come closer with miiverse, an animal crossing-based console would be the best thing to connect everybody together.

And about achievements ? You add that so you get exclusive furniture from the games you play. Come on Nintendo !
And knowing how well this game sells, they would actually sell consoles only for it I’m pretty sure.

    • Nintendoplaystation

You should work for Nintendo, fabulous idea.

      • Jacob D. Taylor

Nintendo doesn’t hire people with good ideas. Lol.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

          Certainly the truth.

        • ItzameyaToad

    • Nintedward

    • This is seriously the best thing I’ve heard in the world! dude you have to pitch to them! Seriously.

      • iamserious

You have the same name as the guy who pitched this idea… Hmmm… Lol

    • wober2

ikr they made a skin of miiverse with animal crossing, they should take the idea further. I love your idea.

Why go through the effort of making hd character models if they were not planning on bringing the franchise to the wiiu.

    • Fred

That’s a genius idea nice work, now the hard part, getting Nintendo to listen to this idea.

      • beerkin

Nintendo has their head so far up their own ass they couldnt hear you if you had marty mcflys guitar amp ffrom the first back to the future. they are too busy figuring out how not to make money. thats was a great idea though.

        • Nintendoplaystation

Shut up. Your making too much noise.

        • ItzameyaToad

” figuring out how not to make money” Sorry but how are they not making money? Out of the big 3 Nintendo is one of the only ones that makes a huge profit. And yet they are figuring out how not to make money? Hopefully your joking.

          • beerkin

NOt make more money would have been the proper way to state my point. think about the ambassador program. there are games on that list that would sell like crazy! minnish cap, thee gba metroids to name a few would sell very well. the virtual console is also another lost opportunity. They should have had 50 to 100 titles ready for launch.really all the wii vc should have been ready then they can add n64 and gc titles.

One of the reasons Nintendo designed Miiverse was so they could get customer feedback.

        • mch

Like your Mary McFly quote, dislike your comment’s context

    • Leo

Fantastic idea!! You should find a way to hand this idea for Nintendo!!

    • brison dickey

the AC os…MAKE IT HAPPEN DUDE!!!

    • Nuno

Ok…. someone just call Nintendo right now. There’s this Lemieux guy that Iwata needs to hear about πŸ™‚

    • Ducked

Don’t take this weird, but I love you!

    • Julio

OMG this is the best idea ever!

    • Krzysztof

      Petition anyone ?

    • Jason

I thought something similar about the animal crossing plaza they released. I felt like they should just allow us to update our own wara wara plaza with the skin we want. Make the AC plaza an option to be my wara wara of default, or a Zelda themed wara wara, or a Mario themed wara wara. Anything but that boring white one!

      • Simon Stevens

So it would be like Playstationhome… only fun?, the social media people would go crazy for it, could see it being the newest biggest fad very fast if it’s marketed right πŸ˜€

    • Juilen Cardenas

    • Wiiluigi

wow! thats impressive! very cool idea.

If you can get this idea on Miiverse somehow I’d definitely support it πŸ™‚

    • CEObrainz

Realistically it may take too long to develop to justify it being on Wii U, however the next console Nintendo releases in several years should have it. I’m surprised I haven’t heard of such a good idea like that before, now if only there was someone on the inside of Nintendo who could pass along the idea.

    • Nathan DeFalco

The more I think about this idea, the better it sounds. The entire console is one big game. Why bother with a pack-in game when the console itself IS a pack-in game. It’s so simple in it’s idea, but so genius. Playstation attempted this with Home, but that was a patchwork of mediocre ideas with no central unifying theme. This has that central unifying theme.

And it has the unintended benefit of pissing off the dudebro gamers that hate Nintendo. They’d be left slack-jawed wondering how such “kiddy” system is owning their console of choice once again.

Unfortunately, we’re left with only fantasy. I still like my Wii U, but you and your brilliant idea took some shine off of it today for sure.

    • Zakariyya Al-Quran

Dude you should really e-mail them, I did and they actually listen, please

    • atl hawks

dude why are you wasting time typing it here. GO TO MIIVERSE AND WRITE THIS ON THE UPDATE PAGE!

    • WiiU4life

Ashley King, is there a way we can pitch this idea to Nintendo….like yesterday! Over 98% of Wii U daily wants this idea to happen.

    • iamserious

With great wisdom comes great responsibility. Post this on Miiverse and the idea shall pass. Really though this is a wonderful idea just look at all these responses!

  • Nintedward

It needs to be on Wiiu so they can sell more consoles…. If they put it on 3DS then they’re just being money grabbers and not thinking about the success of Wiiu. 3DS also already has an exceptional Animal crossing game that people will play for years to come. It doesn’t need another one.

    • Truthteller

If put on the 3DS they are not being ‘money grabbers,’ they are acting like every other publisher who prefers profit over loss. Any other time, you people brag about Nintendo’s money and smart money making decisions, now it’s a problem?

      • BIG Franky

I know… so dumb… the money grabber comment was an embarrassment. these gaming companies (yes, nintendo included) do exist for the sole purpose of generating profits you know… and there isn’t anything wrong with that!

      • Nintendoplaystation

Truthteller that actually a good statement but equally they need give people a reason to buy a wii u and this could be one of them. If they support the wii u with animal crossing to help wii u then they can profit more with two successful platforms, 3ds is already doing well.

        • Truthteller

Wii U has only sold 3.6M units, so unless 3M owners bought the game, there is not much to be made. When the idea of business is to get paid, you know that you have a better chance of getting paid from a successful platform over the unsuccessful one. There is nothing hard about that, it is all simple math. Some people just have to accept that the Wii U has flopped.

          • Gameonfool

          • Nintendoplaystation

That 3.6M was from months ago, probably 4M now and we still have Christmas o get through. With some good bundles for the holiday season and donkey kong, mario kart, smash, x, and bayoneta next year we will see well over 10M by April. Animal crossing will push that figure even higher.

          • Truthteller

My man, no on is waiting for Bayonetta 2 and none of these games coming will push the Wii U to 10M. That rah rah stuff sounds good, but I like to stay grounded to reality.

          • Nintendoplaystation

Your not grounded to reality your up there in space somewhere. We will talk in a few months when I’m right and your wrong. Got my microwave popcorn stored by ready to laugh at you with.

          • Nintenjoe82

I agree with the first part of your first sentence but Mario Kart will sell a few consoles. Bayonetta won’t flop but wont do great and most of the people who buy it already have a Wii U.

          • beerkin

So the vita has flopped too?

          • John Andalora

When’d he ever make a statement about the Vita, or his support to the Vita? When did he claim that the Vita is better than the wii U?

I mean, I personally like the Vita and think it’s a really fun console, but that’s beside the point.

          • beerkin

Most of these idiot trolls are sony fanboys.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Indeed, trolls are idiots. However, saying that most of them are Sony fanboys is generalizing. Lol. Microsoft and PC fanboys are just as bad, if not worse and see them often in NIntendo forums on other sites. Let’s not make baseless claims and act like fanboys ourselves now. Comments like these are why trolls exist.

          • Jacob D. Taylor

            Amen and Hallelujah!

          • Gameonfool

Microsoft should buy Sony and Nintendo they are both crap
Microsoft is the only cool one and the xbox one os is very slick

          • Nintendoplaystation

I agree the Xbox one os looks very slick but it’s because of people like you is why I won’t by one. I had a 360 and playing online was a very unpleasant experience.

          • Jacob D. Taylor

Haha, by nature of this guys name I think he’s a joke.

          • elleryjk

9/10 trolling skills. New achievement unlocked: ‘dudebro gamer’.

          • ItzameyaToad

People seem to forget that in order to grow that install base games like AC are needed. Also you can’t just look at it’s current install base right now and determine which to sell a game for. Sure they could make alot of money off of putting it on 3DS but if they put it on Wii U they have a chance of making a double profit. By getting people to buy the game and a Wii U thus growing the install base. It could essentially grow the install base by attracting 3DS only people to pick up a Wii U for the new AC which pretty much throws out the notion that the games sales will be determined by the Wii U’s current install base. Also don’t forget that final sales aren’t a few months after a game is released, they are over a long period of time in which time the install base could grow and more people would be able to buy the game.

          • Jacob D. Taylor

Guys! I found one! I actually found one! Someone with a brain! WOOHOO!!!

          • Truthteller

That’s sounds good, but they know what will sell and what won’t. They also know which titles will move systems and which won’t. AC is better suited for a 3DS instead of a Wii U. When you have an X1 and PS4, they come out with few games, but looking at their history of 3rd party support and the system specs, these systems have potential and we know that it WILL only get better since most of these games are leftovers from last gen, just enhanced. I don’t even think that they us Direct X 11, which should be standard.

When it comes to the Wii U and Nintendo’s track record, we cannot expect greener pastures from the Wii U. Lack of 3rd party support, mystery specs and a useless controller don’t make people too optimistic about Wii U survival. The 3DS is a success so you can predict profitability. With the Wii U, you have to hope that practically ALL Wii U owners buy your title in order to come off. Since they won’t and they go by previous sales of said title, they have to make a judgement call. On that same note, Nintendo should hit the Wii U with all that they have. If not, then it shows me what I already knew – they are pulling out.

          • TrueWiiMaster

By that logic the PS4 and Xbox One should never have been developed. After all, it will be years before they ever get the kind of audience the PS3 and 360 already have, if they ever get there at all.

          • Truthteller

The point was, there is trust in those systems that more and better games will come. There is trust that sales will increase as well. If Madden and NBA 2K14 were on PC with Next-gen graphics, I would get them for PC. Since that is not the case, I will have to settle for PS4.

Now if the X1 cut the price by $100 and ditched that Kinect, I would go with that since I have 4 months left on my Live account. The Wii U and Nintendo don’t have that trust, only in their handhelds. So with the Wii U, we cannot expect it to go much further than it has gone thus far. Part of the reason is that even Nintendo cannot keep the games coming and it is their system!

          • TrueWiiMaster

There is that same trust in the Wii U. Apparently you don’t have it, but others do.

My point was that, if sales were all that mattered, there would be no point in making new systems, essentially returning to start. Why put the resources into making a game for the PS4 when you’re guaranteed more sales on the PS3 due to its drastically larger user base?

“So with the Wii U, we cannot expect it to go much further than it has gone thus far.”
Quite the contrary. We can only expect it to do better from here.

“Part of the reason is that even Nintendo cannot keep the games coming and it is their system!”
That has probably been the biggest problem the Wii U’s had, but it’s pretty much over. While there were only a handful of 1st party games in its first year, we already know of 5-7 games for next year, some of which rank among the biggest names in the industry, and Nintendo certainly has more they haven’t announced yet. Next year will look nothing like this year.

          • Truthteller

Listen, most gamers don’t have that trust or else they would have purchased it. Sales ARE all that matters, what do you think, they give them away for free. PS4 is the future as I explained before.

You cannot expect the Wii U to go further, as if that is the only direction that it can go. You also cannot make the claim that Nintendo’s upcoming games will be amongst the biggest names (well, you did write NAMES instead of games…) because we don’t know how they will turn out. The Wii U flopped, so why not their games?

          • TrueWiiMaster

I disagree. Many gamers are waiting for the games to come out. There’s no reason to buy the system now if there are few to no games they want yet. Even if there was an infinite supply of PS4’s at launch, only a small fraction of people who want one would buy one. Many would wait for the right game(s) to come out, and/or a price drop. The same applies to the Wii U.

That doesn’t answer my question. If sales are all that matter, why make games for the PS4, where they will certainly sell worse than on existing hardware, while likely costing more to make?

Actually, I can. See, up to now the Wii U hasn’t gotten a single huge exclusive. It would be logical to think that it will only do better when such exclusives arrive. Or do you think the Wii U will do worse when 3D World, Mario Kart, and SSB come out?

Again, I can. The names (Mario, Mario Kart, SSB, DK, etc) have already been proven to be some of the biggest in the industry. I didn’t say the specific Wii U games would be among the best or best selling this gen (though I I expect they will).

“The Wii U flopped, so why not their games?”
Wow. That’s just bad. The Wii U has sold poorly (not “flopped”) because it hasn’t gotten games like the ones it’s about to get. No system would sell well without system-selling games, because every system is dependent on games to sell.

      • Nintedward

They’re not any other publisher, they’re the ones who are responsible for selling the Wiiu and pushing the console forward.
It would be retarded for Nintendo EAD to put another AC on 3DS instead of putting one on Wiiu which could potentially sell hundreds of thousands of consoes, which is what they need MORE than making a petty dollar off of another 3DS instalment. Simple.

        • Truthteller

I don’t know where you guys get your fantasy numbers from, but AC won’t sell ‘hundreds of thousands’ of systems, the Zelda remake and Pikmin 3 did not do that and neither will Mario 3D. AC has a better chance of success on 3DS. You know the Wii U has problems and will be discontinued by March when Nintendo must consider if they are to release a game on it!

          • Fred

Discontinue the Wii U by March?

          • beerkin

Youre an idiot. im sure they will release mario kart 8 and the next smash bros then discontinue the wii u. go away clueless troll.

          • Truthteller

When they fail to move units they will.

          • Nintedward

Animal crossing is huge. It would sell hundreds of thousands of Wiiu’s guaranteed.
It would be in Nintendo’s best interest to put the next Animal crossing game on Wiiu rather than 3DS. Sure it would sell more copies on 3DS, but if it was on Wiiu it would shift units and that’s what Nintendo needs more. Period.

Don’t understand why I’m being downvoted when I’m right.

          • Jacob D. Taylor

While I DEFINITELY don’t side with Truthteller, saying the Wii U will be recalled/discontinued by march is beyond asinine I do not think Animal Crossing will sell ‘hundreds of thousands’ of units. It will sell/move units, yes I’m sure, but not that many. That’s rediculous.

          • TrueWiiMaster

It’s not as ridiculous as you think, actually. Animal Crossing: City Folk sold about 4.5 million on the Wii. If even 5% of that number bought a Wii U for a Wii U Animal Crossing, that would still be hundreds of thousands.

          • Nintedward

You’re a troll with multiple accounts. I’m onto you.

          • Truthteller

No, but I do have a sick cyber stalker who won’t leave me alone, all for my making comments against Nintendo. He has been following me for months and he thinks he is annoying me but he is only proving himself to be sick and he clearly has no woman nor has he had relations yet. He may not even be into women. I never saw anyone so obsessed with Nintendo, let alone what people say on the internet. I guess since I and most people could care less about him, he wants to insert himself into the lives of important people.

          • Guest

That fuckin’ “scienceenthusiast-something”, right? that friggin’ asshole is getting on my nerves too -.-“

          • shinitaru

I suppose that you think that you are important? and Nintedward is the OP & you are the one who replied to him so how is he stalking you?
Wait, don’t answer that, I don’t really care. Just wanted to point out that you aren’t fooling anyone

          • Arthur Jarret

oh, you said ONTO you… as I’m ON TO you is written with two seperate words, I read INTO…

          • andrewjcole

Yeah… they’re gonns stop selling Wii U’s in March just like Apple’s gonna stop selling Macs.

          • Truthteller

The difference is – Macs are selling while Wii U’s are not!

  • BIG Franky

It’ll be for Wii U, as it should be.

  • Justin Montgomery

Hopefully this game comes to Wii U and actually sells some consoles. Either way, if it is anything like New Leaf it will be amazing.

  • I could see it coming to Wii U, seeing how they already rendered all the villagers in HD for the Plaza anyhow…

  • TheWiiviewer

I want an online only version of animal crossing. The possibilitys could be endless. It could have micro transactions, special events, and real friendships.

This like a Pokemon MMO could be a system seller.

  • Josiah Parsons

    Wii U Wii U Wii U!

    • Gameonfool

The sound of the ambulance coming for Nintendo soon to be in hospital laying on its back hope they a good donor give a few ips to Xbox and a few to playstation they will do a better job

      • starwars360

You are rubbish troll. Nintendo will alway be around. You crying because Nintendo still around. Lmfao.

Nintendo had said before if Wii U still sales not well so they still try their hard on it but they also said they will never gone. 3DS sales amazing moment and Nintendo had plenty money business.

Wii U sales moment still grow up each months since Pikmin 3. πŸ™‚

So I knew who you are. You are Springer85. Lmfao hahahahaha you make new username hahahahahahahaha

When Nintendo fails all your fanboys will be crying and your tears will fill my soul with pure joy

          • audi lover

Nintendo don’t fail they move on

          • Leo

Why would you have joy to see a videogame company fail (if it fails)? The last time i checked, Nintendo is the reason we all play videogames today, so if anything you should be grateful of its sucess .

          • alex toschi

The very notion that you would be overjoyed about a company falling that has brought millions of people joy, and also cause many people to lose jobs and bring the end of era and a fantastic company that basically made the industry revive and become something great makes you an unbelievable piece of crap. Regardless of how you feel that company is important to people, and gives people jobs and joy in their lives.

          • Gameonfool

nintendo were good in the retro days but now they dont have any place to belong in the true gamer world. they cant make a story driven game like the last of us or an bid open world like fallout 3, yeah whatever move allong. people will loose jobs but change comes

          • TrueWiiMaster

No, they’re still among the best, if not the best. Don’t take my word for it though. Look at what critics say. Nintendo continually makes some of the best games on the market.

Story driven games? Like Xenoblade, considered by many to be the best JRPG all gen? Actually, it also has a huge open world…

Besides, those are two types (not even really genres) of games. Nintendo makes the best platformers, RPG’s, and party games on the market, while also having excellent games in almost every genre (fighting, racing, strategy, puzzle, action, etc). They aren’t going anywhere.

          • Gameonfool

xenoblade please looks old might have been good on the gamecube and x looks like a 360 game, nintendo just cant help running behind everyone eles theres a reason wii u is a complete flop

          • Nintendoplaystation

you don’t play nintendo games do you. also everyone is running behind nintendo. stop smearing you shit on this website. why are you even here.

          • TrueWiiMaster

Critics say you’re wrong about Xenoblade, and X hasn’t even shown any final footage yet.

“nintendo just cant help running behind everyone eles”

            Yeah, obviously Nintendo’s the one who’s behind…

“theres a reason wii u is a complete flop”
Actually there are two reasons for the Wii U’s slow sales. First, the marketing was terrible, and second, there were few to no system-selling games at launch. Of course, current sales don’t make the Wii U a “flop” anyway. It hasn’t even been out a year after all.

            ignore this retarded troll

      • Orange Lada

Well … lets see. Nintendo, billions in the bank. Sony … suffering, selling real estate, trying to stay alive. MS … not doing that well on the gaming end of things, and they have bigger things to worry about (Apple and Google).

Really, I think you are worrying about the wrong company laying on its back.

        • Gameonfool

we shall talk when we see nintendo games on the xbox

            Which will never, ever happen.

I would just love to see it!

What would I like to see in Animal Crossing for Wii U?

Since online works well on Wii U, lets take advantage of it and turn Animal Crossing into a non-restricted MMO.

-Have the ability to open your town up to the public to visit, without no friend code crap.
-Have the ability to leave your town and go to a public hangout, where you can freely communicate with other Animal Crossing gamers.
-Interactive multiplayer fun, add a bunch of mini games, or perhaps an old school NES arcade, a pool table, a bowling ally that you can actually play with multiple animal crossing gamers at once in the public.
-Design your own clothing in high detail and have the ability to sell it to other AC gamers.
-Add new environments for AC gamers to explore together. Perhaps a Mario environment… a Luigi environment… holiday environments…third party environments! If I had the ability to create an environment… I would create a Nintendo museum… a Sega Club where you can get Sega clothing, hats, ect… an interactive amusement park… a bowling ally… a go kart track… a casino… an arcade… a flea market where you can sell and trade stuff as well…

-I think animal crossing should have its own version of “ebay” where you can literally auction or sell stuff to real AC gamers from all over the world through a special computer, and it immediately ships to the other gamer.

      4 thumbs down…

Some people really disappointment that they don’t like innovative ideas. This would benefit Wii U gamers. Having the ability to do all that stuff would be positive for AC and the console. It will draw more people into wanting the console. I’ve played Animal Crossing many times on GC, DS, Wii and 3DS and its time to more forward… not just a little bit, but a lot. Sure, keep the traditional gameplay but with MMO functions, with many interactive fun environments, that would be so awesome and a buy for me.

      • Nintendoplaystation

Well I thought some of that was quite imaginative to be honest. We living in the future now (I know we always in the now but you know what I mean) and things need to move forward.
Edit: why down vote me it can just be added features Nintendo always cater to main campaign too. I’m not saying I agree with everything but a least the mans got ideas which more than what I can say about you down voters.

      • kevin nun—-

I know, most Nintendo fans don’t like change. I wrote Nintendo should add online multiplayer to Mario 3D World and I instantly got like 10 downvotes. Disappointment. I feel like I am in the wrong console team.

        • CEObrainz

Maybe if you explained how it should incorporate online you would have got less downvotes? It’s not change that Nintendo fans don’t like otherwise the only series with real sales would be Mario and PokΓ©mon to an extent…but I get ya point.

      • Rinslowe

        “4 thumbs down…”

        Not important… Nice idea’s by th way…

        Oh and;

“8 thumbs up..” and counting, lol.

    • TrueWiiMaster

I’d love to see specially made themed towns based on seasons, games, etc. I also love the idea of selling designs (perhaps in some sort of online mall) and Animal Crossing ebay (I’ve been wanting that since the DS game). Appropriate, optional mini-games would be a nice addition too. As for friend codes, the Wii U doesn’t really use them. You can friend people on Miiverse pretty easily, so it wouldn’t be hard to get some friends on an Animal Crossing board there. Ideally there would also be some sort of hang-out (like you said) not unlike the island in New Leaf, but with the ability to friend people you meet. I don’t know why you can’t do that on the island. I’ve already met several people I would have friended, but I couldn’t.

  • Arthur Jarret

I’m betting it’s already far in development for the wii U.
    This is all:

  • Jon

I hope it is Wii U, the 3DS got an animal crossing

  • Yobrolo

    both !

  • Zuxs13

At the rate they bring these games out it will be on the 4DS or the Wii3

  • Ducked

Bring back Mayor mode, have Mii playable, and expand town features.

  • Justagamer

I would buy it…I have the 3ds game and it is awesome

  • Sonic 2099 The Hedgehog

choose the Wii U Nintendo WII U

  • Gibosdog

Of course the Wii U. We need to get as many games on the Wii U so the can sell more systems. Mario Kart 8 should have been release yesterday.

  • Nintenjoe82

Translation – We know we need to make a Wii U version but we’re still waiting on Iwata-San to tell us whether there’ll still be a Wii U to make it for.

I love the OS idea, haha but I really like to see an Animal Crossing on the WIi U. New Leaf was truly phenomenal but just doesn’t have the same capabilties as the Wii U. I’ve always found the world to be a little small still. I would love a larger scale animal crossing with some advanced decorating/designing that only a high processor like a console could handle.

  • TrueWiiMaster

Actually, Animal Crossing New Leaf has been out almost a year in Japan, and the series began on the N64 months before the Gamecube came out.

Anyway, I really hope the next Animal Crossing comes to the Wii U. I doubt there’s really any chance that it won’t, since every console and handheld has gotten one Animal Crossing since the first game, but if by some chance the Wii U was skipped, I’d be very disappointed.

Also, I don’t think they’d abandon the “rolling pin world” even if the system could load the entire town. In addition to the technical advantage it offers, it also gives an ideal perspective for the game.

  • Julio

Lol I don’t know why Nintendo said which platforms the next animal crossing should be in. This is not rocket science. If they announce it for Wii, then what’s the point making it for Wii since it’s lifespan ended? The 3DS already has AC, so the Wii U should be the Supreme.

  • IcyCatt

Raises Mexican girl into the air. “Why not both?” she says

    • MetroidZero

I was thinking of the same meme lol

  • bizzy gie

    Wii U

  • Squid

Well honestly, I think AC fits the portable systems best. But with that touch screen on Wii U it might work

  • ScrewAttack

HEY NINTENDO, have you heard about this console, Wii U? Maybe it’d be good idea to focus on that one for a little bit rather than constantly jizzing all over the 3DS?

  • Rinslowe

“The Wii U has the power to support a fully rendered world without the need for panels or rolling pin worlds, which would be a first in the series.”

Couple that with gamepad support and it’s seems like an absolute no brainer to me…

  • Falcoxcalibur

This needs to be on Wii U. Wii U needs this. And it should be a MMO game, for real.

  • Juilen Cardenas

I would love for Animal Crossing to be and the Wii U and I would totaly buy it in a second.

  • Linksawakeningisazeldagame

    Wii U.

  • Merrfn

Hopefully it will come out on Wii U!

  • like2nap

Wii. Put it on the Wii. Or Android. Whatever keeps the wife from playing it on the Wii U and taking up my gaming time πŸ™‚

  • mch

Bring it on Wii U with cross-play to 3ds!
There are almost unlimited possibilities where this game-series can still go.
I want my character to be able to play icehockey, incl. building a stadium in town πŸ˜€

  • Brentt

What a Wii U Animal Crossing? I haven’t even played New leaf yet:)

  • Saul Strange

Why is this even under consideration? Wii U desperately needs new, popular software. An E3 2014 announcement of a new Wii U Animal Crossing game is surely a no-brainer from a business perspective.

  • Chris Bishop

I would love for animal crossing to just come to wiiu period so i can get my wiiu out of the closet. With Xbox one coming up in a few weeks I gotta say nintendo needs to come on and release some good games on wiiu like smash bros, zelda, and animal crossing because right now they are in the toilet. Ive been a hugh nintendo fan since the first system and have owned every system they have ever released but I gotta say the wiiu is a great concept but for it beig out for a year nearly its games are pathetic
