We knew it wouldn’t be long before another Skylanders game came to fruition, especially since Disney have announced Disney Infinity, a direct competitor in the world of digital toys. Skylanders Swap Force is the next installment in the Skylanders series and it will be available on all of Nintendo’s platforms.

While the focus of the last game was on new larger Skylanders called giants, as suggested by the name, the focus of the new game will be on the ability to swap out components on your various Skylanders. Each character will come with a top half and a bottom half, allowing you to swap out the various halves and create new characters of your own.

No release date has been announced for the game, but given Activision’s propensity to turn franchises into yearly releases, we think it’s safe to say this one will be available by the holidays. Now that a new Skylanders is available, are you excited or are you more interested in Disney Infinity’s offering? Let us know in the comments below.

Ironically, if games like this perform well on the Wii U sales-wise, more 3rd-party support from smaller developers will come.

  • Nintendofreak

    im speechless

  • they will slowly kill that franchise like they did with guitar hero…

    • My thoughts exactly.

    • Anthony Sibilla

Spyro’s already been killed, long before Skylanders.

  • Graphics actually look better than the last few Skylanders games… still not going to buy it though

  • It’s games like this that give the Nintendo a bad name of being a kiddy machine.

    • Pay attention Donald, Skylanders Giants came out on every console INCLUDING PS3 and XBOX360 and Swap Force is doing the same.

    • Maybe Donaald you could back up your statement or have you forgotten that both skylanders games have been released on ps3 and 360 aswell, so those consoles are also kiddy then.

Own wait I forgot, when a game like this (which acually is lots of fun to play) comes to a nintendo console it’s without a doubt kiddy, but when the SAME game(s) come to ps3 and 360 all of a sudden they’re Cool and not kiddy? Yes, makes sense Donaald. Once again IF you TRY to make a statement which isn’t futile, make sure you can BACK IT UP, instead of doing it like this.

      •  I did not write that it is cool on the other two, but I am saying that Nintendo spends too much of it’s time promoting and allowing baby games on it’s systems that it is the only identity that Nintendo has.  Put the baby games on the back burner and then Wii U sales can happen, but they had better hurry up!

    yes can’t wait

I am more interested in Disney Infinity because of the sandbox mode it has which is really the whole appeal of that game to me well besides the fact that the characters in Disney Infinity bring back great childhood memories.

  • Anthony Sibilla

Please stop publishing these games, Activision. Do something to make original Spyro fans proud. Get rid of that thing you call Spyro. The madness must end!

  • Cole Holbrook

disney infinity. doubt i’ll buy it though

  • andrewjcole

Nah… I’m gonna get Disney Infinity.

  • Metal_Man_v2

Activision’s latest annual cash grab series?

    • SoulSilverZero

      That’s Call of Duty.

  • SoulSilverZero

    Swap Force eh? Sounds… Interesting…
